1. Introduction
This manual provides information on the maintenance of HUVITZ refractor Model
CDR-3100. For the correct maintenance, it is necessary to understand this manual
thoroughly before beginning to perform maintenance. The design or specification is
subject to modification without prior notice for improvement.
In case the instrument cannot be repaired by the procedures described in this manual,
contact HUVITZ with product and problem status information like serial number of the product,
version number of the Operating System, details of the symptom, and etc.

2. Simplified QC Check Procedure
2.1 Purpose of the 2nd QC check
The purpose of this 2nd inspection is to find out any possible changes or unwanted defects
caused during its shipping and unshipping by improper handling of the product. This 2nd QC
procedure aids to check original alignment and settings of each product and to give first-aid
measures. It is generously desired to go through this procedure before sending the instrument
to customer’s place for installation.
2.2 Simplified procedures for the 2nd QC check
The simplified procedures for the 2nd QC check include tests and checking procedures listed
below.
Aging test for the Refractor Body
Post aging test procedures for checking the Refractor Body
2.2.1 Aging test for the Refractor Body
①Preparations
-Install each Digital Refractor to be checked.
-Check if each Refractor is performing the initialization sequence correctly.
-Check the software version of the Operation Panel whether it is a QCs version or
not.
ÆOnly the versions with “QCs” in their version information support QC check functions.
②Procedure
-Turn all the Refractors off.
-Network the Refractors by daisy-chaining(refer to the figure in ‘Recommended
System Configuration for QC Check’ section).
-Connect the QCs version of Operation Panel to one of the Refractors on its
Junction Box, or the power supply unit.
-Turn on the power of all the Refractors.
-Follow the key sequence below to enter the aging test mode on the QCs version
of Operation Panel after all the Refractors finishes their initialization sequences.

2.2.2 Post aging test procedures for the Refractor Body
①Check the PD adjustment function
•Press PD button.
•Check if the PD-check lenses are inserted properly.
•Turn the dial clockwise or counter-clockwise several times.
•Press PD button again to finish this step.
②Check the convergence function
•Press F/N button several times.
•Check if the Refractor Body is converging correctly.
•Finish this step with the Refractor in the FAR mode for the remaining steps.
③Check the initialization sequences again
•Turn off the power.
•Turn on the power again.
•Check if the disk plates in the Refractor Body are aligned properly after the
initialization sequences.
•Repeat this step 3 to 5 times.
④Check the auxiliary lenses
•To enter the lens-checking mode, press the following key sequence.
ALT + MENU
ALT + START
ALT + OPEN/CLOSE
•Change the selection of eye to binocular:
ÆPress the OU button.
•Skip SPH lenses by turning the dial clock-wise or press NEXT button.
•Check the auxiliary lenses one by one.
ÆCompare the lenses in the test windows with the information on the LCD of the

Operation Panel.
•Finish this step when all the auxiliary lenses are checked.
ÆPress the ESC button.
⑤Check the direction of rotary prism lenses
•Reset the Refractor Body.
ÆPress the CLEAR button twice.
•Select rotary prism lenses.
ÆPress the BIBO or BDBU button.
•Confirm that the direction of prism base is downward.
⑥Check the initial position of the dual cross cylinder lenses in the cylinder mode.
•Select dual cross cylinder lens on the right.
ÆPress the dots group chart button twice.
•Confirm that the split line of the lens is vertical.
•Change the selection of eye to left.
ÆPress the LEFT button.
Confirm that the split line of the lens is vertical.
ÆThe split line is laid horizontal in the <+> cylinder mode.

2.3 Recommended system configuration for QC check
2.3.1 Configuration for Aging Test
(*) The Operation Panel used for this configuration should be a QCs version.
(*) Refractor Bodies can be connected together for the QC check as many as the total
length of daisy-chained connection is less than about 500m.

3.3 Replacement procedure for PI sensor
(1) Remove the covers of the main body, front and rear.
(2) Disconnect the connector of the sensor to be replaced.
(3) Unscrew the screws and remove
the sensor.
(*) With a cutter knife, draw lines along
the shape of the sensor board on the
metal frame as shown in the figure 3-3
so that you can replace and fix a
new sensor board on its original
position as closely as possible.

-After replacing a sensor according to the procedure here, it is required to check the
initial position of the open aperture in the related lens disk. Ideally all the open apertures
in 6 disks should be aligned concentric (refer to Fig. 3-4).
-If it is found to be non-concentric, ‘Motor Calibration’ should be performed on that lens
disk for re-aligning it concentric (refer to Appendix A: Motor calibration for the refractor
body).
