8. Turn on the power to the computer, making sure that
the power is turned on to the SAS devices and the
SATA II devices before or at the same time as the host
computer. If the power is turned on to the computer
before it is turned on to the devices, the computer might
not recognize the devices.
INSTALLING THE SERVERAID M5000
SERIES PERFORMANCE ACCELERATOR
KEY ON THE SERVERAID M5025 SAS/
SATA CONTROLLER
Perform the following steps to install the ServeRAID M5000
Series Performance Accelerator Key directly to the
ServeRAID M5025 SAS/SATA controller.
Step 1 Turn off the computer and unplug the power
cords from the rear of the power supply.
Step 2 Remove the cover from the computer according
to the instructions in the system user’s manual so
you can access the controller.
Step 3 Ground yourself before you touch the controller
or the key.
Step 4 Remove the key from the package.
Step 5 Hold the key so that the J1 connector is up and
the connector lines up with the J1A2 shielded
header on the controller, as shown in Figure 3.
Step 6 Insert the J1 connector into the J1A2 header so
that the two connectors are firmly joined.

Step 7 Reinstall the computer cover and reconnect the
power cords.
Step 8 Turn on the power to the computer, making sure
that the power is turned on to the SAS devices
and the SATA II devices before or at the same
time as the host computer. If the power is turned
on to the computer before it is turned on to the
devices, the computer might not recognize the
devices.
