1.0 Introduction
1.1 Scope
The purpose of this document is to provide specification followingenvironmentalregulations.
3958-DD6 DOES NOT HAVE FRU SERVICE FOR BATTERY, CUSTOMER OR ENGINEERING SERVICE
SHOULD REQUEST CANISTER FRU AND REPLACE PART FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED IN
INSTALLATION MANUAL GA32-0921-13 / 2726100
For details in disposition handing refers to document PRODUCT SAFETY DATA SHEET in ECO M13676.

Remove the system battery:
a) Turn off the canister and remove it from chassis.
b) Carefully remove top cover from canister
c) Remove screws from remaining top cover in rear side of canister, as shown in following picture

d) Locate the battery closer to rear side of canister
e) Remove the system battery
I. If there is rubber cover on the battery holder, use your fingers to lift the battery cover
from the battery connector
II. Use one finger to tilt the battery horizontally out of its socket, pushing it away from the
socket.
Attention: Neither tilt nor push the battery by using excessive force.

III. Use your thumb and index finger to lift the battery from the socket.
Attention: Do not lift the battery by using excessive force. Failing to remove the battery
properly my damage the socket on the system board. Any damage on the socket may
require replacing the system board.
IV. Disposal the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations. See the IBM
Environmental notices and User’s Guide on the IBM Documentation CD for more
information.
