deviceisnotintendedtosustainorsupportlife.

Theoxygenconcentrationleveloftheoutputgasrangesfrom87%
to95.6%.Theoxygenisdeliveredtothepatientthroughtheuse
ofanasalcannula.Whenthedemandforoxygenisdetected,the
oxygenisdeliveredthroughpulsedflowwithpulseflowsettingsof1
through5.
TheInvacareportableconcentratoriscapableofoperationbythe
patientinahomeenvironment,inaninstitutionalenvironmentor
inavehicleorothermobileenvironment.Devicestandardpower
optionsincludeanACtoDCswitchingpowersupplyoperatingfrom
ACpoweroutlet(120VAC/60Hertzor230VAC/50Hertznominal),
aDCtoDCswitchingpowersupplyoperatingfromaccessory

Start-UpIndicator TheXPO2concentratorwillturnonalllightsbrieflyandcheckforstuckbuttonsuponpowerup.Itwill
thenoutputabriefaudiblebeepwhenfirstturnedontoindicatetheunitisoperational.
BreathDetectIndicator
TheXPO2concentratorwilldeliverameasuredpulseofoxygeneachtimeitdetectsaninhalation.The
blueflowsettingindicatorlightwillblinkeachtimeaninhalationisdetectedandtheXPO2concentrator
outputsapulseofoxygen.
InternalBatteryChargingIndicator Whentheconcentratorisnotturnedon,buttheAC,orDC,chargerisconnectedtotheconcentrator
andprovidingpower,theBatteryGaugeDisplaywillsequentiallyilluminateeachofthefoursegments.
Periodicallythesequentialilluminationwillbeinterruptedbytheactualbatterychargedisplay.
Iftheconcentratorisfullycharged,allfoursegmentswillbeilluminatedcontinuouslyuntilthe
concentratoristurnedon,orremovedfromchargerpower.IfnoBatteryGaugeDisplaysegments
areilluminated,theconcentratorisnotcharging.Thelackofchargingcouldbeduetoeitheralossof
power,loosechargerconnectionsortheinternalbatteryisnotatthepropertemperatureforcharging.
Allowtheunittowarm,orcool,torecommendedchargingtemperaturerange(see2.1TypicalProduct
Parameters,page9),checkforlooseconnectionsand/ortryadifferentpoweroutlet.
AudibleAlarms Totemporarilysilencetheaudiblealarms,quicklypresstheOn/Offbutton.ExceptforthesystemToo
Hot/TooColdalarms,thisfeaturewillresetitself,every30seconds,eachtimeanewalarmistriggered,
oriftheunitisturnedOff.WhenperformedduringthesystemTooHot/TooColdalarms,theaudible
alarmwillbesilenceduntilanewalarmistriggered,ortheconcentratoristurnedOff.

andproperlypositioned.

specifiedbyIEC/EN60601-1-2.Theselimitsaredesignedtoprovide
areasonableprotectionagainstelectromagneticinterferenceina
typicalmedicalinstallation.
Otherdevicesmayexperienceinterferencefromeventhelowlevels
ofelectromagneticemissionspermittedbytheabovestandards.To
determineiftheemissionsfromtheXPO2concentratorarecausing
theinterference,turntheXPO2concentratorOff.Iftheinterference
withtheotherdevice(s)stops,thentheXPO2concentratoriscausing
theinterference.Insuchrarecases,interferencemaybereducedor

ontheairlineofchoiceandstillwanttotakeitwithyou:
•Carryitandanysupplementalbatteriesonboard
withyou.
•Ensuretheunitisturnedoff.
•Stowitproperlyfortheflight.
•DONOTplacetheXPO2concentratororany
supplementalbatterymodulesincheckedbaggage.
2.Contacttheairlinetoseeiftheyhaveseatswithapoweroutlet
thatyoucanusetopowertheXPO2concentratorduringthe
flight.Ifapoweroutletisnotavailable,besuretobringenough
supplementalbatteriestolast150%oftheflighttime.
Theremaybeunexpecteddelaysbeyondscheduled
flighttimes.Carryyourpoweradapterswithyousoyou
canrechargebatteriesbeforeandaftertheflight.
3.Ensureyouhavealicensedphysician’ssignedstatementona
standardform(p/n1154266),thedoctor’sletterheadoran
airline-approvedformthatcontainsthefollowinginformation:
•Yourneedforoxygenduringtaxi,takeoff,flighttimes,
landing,ortheentiretimeyouaretraveling.
•Theflowrate(s)thatyouwilluseduringyourtrip.
•Yourunderstanding,orthatofyourtravelcompanion,
ofallthecautions,warnings,andalarmsoftheXPO2
concentratorandwhattodoifthereisanalarmsituation
withthedevice.
•Yourpersonalinformationsuchasname,dateofbirth,and
themodelnameornumberoftheportableconcentrator.
YouMUSThavethisformwithyouatalltimes
duringyourtravel.
4.ChargetheinternalbatteryoftheXPO2concentratorandany
supplementalbatteriesfullybeforeyoudepart,thusextending
theoperatingtimeoftheXPO2concentratorduringtravel.
RefertoRechargingtheBatteryintheowner’smanual.
5.Ensuretheunitisfreeofallgrease,oil,orotherpetroleum
productsandthattheunitisingoodworkingorder,isfreeof
damage,andtheairfilterisclean.RefertoMaintenanceinthe
owner’smanual.
6.Contactyouroxygensuppliertomakearrangementsifyouneed
tohavebackupoxygenatyourdestination.

ArrivingattheAirport
1.AllowthesecurityagenttoinspectyourXPO2concentrator,
evenifyouareusingit,whengoingthroughthesecurity
checkpoint.
Theyarerequiredtoallowyoutotravelthroughthe
checkpointwithyourPOC,buttheyMUSTinspectit
forsecurityreasons.
2.UseyourACpoweradapterwhileyouareintheairport,if
possible.Thiswillkeepthebatteriesatfullchargeandgiveyou
themostbatterypoweredoperatingtimeontheaircraft.
BoardingthePlane
Youarenotpermittedtositinanexitrowifyouplantouse
yourXPO2concentratoratanytimeduringtheflight.
1.IfyouplanonusingtheXPO2concentratortheentiretime
youaretheplane,verifythatyourXPO2concentratordoes
notblockaccesstoanemergencyexitoraisleway.Ifitdoes,
requestaseatchange.
2.Showthepilotorflightcrewyoursignedphysician’sstatement
regardingyouruseoftheXPO2concentrator,ifasked.
3.Inorderfortheflightcrewtoensurethesafetyofyouandall
oftheotherpassengersontheflight,allowthemtoinspect
theXPO2concentratortoconfirmthatitisFAAapprovedfor
useontheflight.
4.IfyouarenotplanningtouseyourXPO2concentratorduring
taxi,takeoff,orlanding,youMUSTstoreitinanapproved
storageareasoitdoesnotblocktheroworaisleaccess.
Contacttheflightcrewaboutlocationofapproved
storageareas.
OnthePlane
YouMUSTstorethesupplementalbatteryeithersecurely
connectedtotheXPO2concentratororinyourcarry-on
baggage.ThesupplementalbatteryMUSTbeprotectedfrom
damageandshortingouttheexternalpowerconnector.
1.YoumayuseyourXPO2concentratorwhenmovingaboutthe
cabin,ONLYafterthepilotturnsoffthe“FastenSeatBelt”sign.
2.TurnofftheunitiftheXPO2concentratoralarmsduringthe
flight,unlessthealarmresetsitself.Ifthealarmdoesnotreset,
theXPO2concentratorMUSTbeturnedoffandstoredinan
approvedstoragearea.
3.IfanACpoweroutletisavailableontheflight,performthe
following:
a.ConnectthepoweradaptertotheXPO2concentrator.
b.Pluginthepoweradapterintotheairlinepoweroutlet.
c.Turntheuniton.
Ifyouhaveanytroublemakingtheconnectionstotheplane’s
poweroutlet,contacttheflightcrewforassistance.
AftertheFlight
1.EnsureyouhaveenoughpowertorunyourXPO2concentrator
whileleavingtheairport.Rechargethebatteries,ifnecessary.
RefertoRechargingtheBatteryintheowner’smanual.
2.Contactyourmedicalgassuppliertoobtainyourbackupoxygen
supply,ifnecessary.
TravelingbyBoat
Contactthecruiselineandinformthemyouaretravelingwitha
POC.ThereshouldbenorestrictionsonyouruseoftheXPO2
concentratorduringyourtravelbutitiswisetocheckwiththem
