THE MUSIC THAT BRINGS YOU TO YOUR FEET IN
THE WORLD’S LEADING CONCERT VENUES? It’s a
joint production of your favorite bands and their favorite audio brand. From the
Royal Albert Hall to the Grand Ole Opry and all the best-known halls, stadiums
and amphitheaters in between, JBL®has been the recognized authority in the
amplification of live music for more than 60 years. But when the concerts
are over and the equipment packed up, JBL brings the excitement home.
JBL Performance™Series home theater and music systems utilize technologies,
materials and engineering that duplicate professional-performance characteristics,
letting you enjoy them day in and day out. With a variety of in-wall, on-wall
and traditional loudspeakers, not to mention advanced electronics components,
distortion-free, arena-quality JBL sound now fits into your life – and your living
space – as never before.

YOUR HOME, THE ARENA.

MOVIES AND MUSIC AS YOU’VE NEVER HEARD
THEM AT HOME. Individual tastes in movies and music vary widely, of
course. But critical listeners demand a consistently high level of sonic accuracy,
whatever the program material and wherever they listen. Rock or jazz, thrillers
or love stories, in large rooms or small – even outdoors – JBL Performance Series
components are designed and manufactured to deliver uncompromised,
full-spectrum sound anywhere in your home. Choose systems with unobtrusive
built-in loudspeakers that outperform many high-end traditional systems. Or
choose hybrid systems that match in-wall surrounds to shelf- or wall-mounted
front-channel monitors. Or design your own home theater or distributed-music
system from more than 30 different speaker configurations. Performance Series
systems are designed to satisfy your passion for movies and music, as well as
to accommodate where and how you live.

Toappreciate the full impact of today’smost popular digital media – to achieve the highest possible resolution and fidelity – takes versatility, connectivity and
more than a little raw power from your system’s electronics. The state-of-the-art electronic components of the Performance Series deliver brilliantly on all counts.
THE POWER TO PERFORM.
With 7X120 WATTS OF POWER, the AVA7 delivers
superb sonic performance, and INTERFACES DIRECTLY
WITH THE AV1, enabling superior remote control. It’s also vented
from the rear and the sides, rather than the top, for direct stacking above or
below the AV1.
THE INSIDE INFORMATION.
7
6
The SOFTWARE-UPGRADEABLE, HDTV-compatible AV1
speaks THX®and THX Ultra2™
, DTS-ES®and Neo:6®
, and Dolby®DPL, DPL II
and EX, not to mention JBL’S EXCLUSIVE LOGIC 7®
PROCESSING, which can create discrete multichannel sound from
two-channel sources. And with eight analog audio inputs, four coaxial and
four optical digital audio inputs, five S-video, five composite and three com-
ponent video inputs, it plays well with others.
AVA7 7-Channel Power Amplifier
AV1 7.1-Channel Surround Processor/System Controller
FORCED-AIR
COOLING
Two variable-velocity fans pull
cool air from the back of the
AVA7 chassis, over the unit’s
heatsinks and out the sides.
OPTIMAL
OPERATING
CONDITIONS
Continuous tracking of the
input signal strength and
the amplifier temperature
determines optimal airflow,
which increases durability
and longevity.
SIDE-VENTED
Because the AVA7 is vented
from the sides, it can be
stacked directly on or under
the AVA1.
The JBL PERFORMANCE AVA7 seven-channel power amplifier uses forced-air cooling to ensure the highest level of performance,
durability and longevity, even under extended high-power-output demands.

This crossover design provides
the shortest route from the input
terminals to the transducers.
Minimizes signal loss and noise.
BENEFIT: Ensures that a
strong, precise signal arrives at
each driver.
INVERTED-DOME
WOOFERS
Pure, undistorted bass even
at the highest listening
levels, enabled by rigid cast-
aluminum frames that are
sonically neutral.
FREEFLOW™-PORT
ARCHITECTURE
Couples internal air motion to
acomputer-designed aperture
that allows for maximum air flow
without audible “port noise,”
extending bass response.

The K2 S9800 wins more prestigious awards
than any other loudspeaker in history: Golden
Sound Award (Japan), Hi-Fi Product of the
Year (Great Britain), Design and Engineering
Showcase Award (USA), Diapason d’Or (France).
The VerTec system inaugurates a U.S. president.
(Well, not single-handedly, but 300,000 people
did hear every word of the speech.)
2001
2002
Several JBL engineers are
recognized by the Academy
of Motion Picture Arts and
Sciences for technical
achievement. (That makes
JBL very highly decorated,
especially if you count
Lansing’s 1937 A.M.P.A.S.
citation, which we some-
times do.)
2003
JBL Synthesis system reigns as the world’s
most powerful home theater, offering more
than 8,000 watts of power and the new
SDP-40 digital processor.
The patented JBL Synthesis S4A is the
world’s first THX Ultra2™in-wall, flush-
mount, multipole surround loudspeaker.
It is awarded the International CES®
Innovations Award.
2000
JBL debuts the
VerTec®line
array system at the
Democratic National
Convention in
Los Angeles.
2004
JBL brings Pro sound to your desk-
top. JBL Creature®II and JBL On
Stage™* offer cutting-edge sci-fi
design and superior sound perform-
ance for computers and portable
devices, proving that excellence can
indeed come in small packages.
2005
JBL Pro receives a
Technical GRAMMY®
from the National
Academy of Recording
Arts & Sciences.
