SettinguptheAquarium
WehaveproducedyourJUWELAquariumwiththeutmostcareusingmostadvanced
productiontechniques.Extrastrongpackaginghasbeenusedtopreventdamageto
theaquarium.Pleasenotehowever,thatyouraquariumhasbeentransportedand
handledseveraltimespriortoreachingitsfinaldestination.Werecommend
therefore,thatyoutesttheaquariumforleaksinasuitablearea(e.g.garage),by
fillingitwithwaterandcheckingitverycarefully.
Havingmadeyourchecks,youshouldselectthemostsuitableanddesirableposition
foryouraquarium.Thepositionselectedshouldhaveanevenandlevelsurfaceand
shouldbeabletosupporttheweightofthefilledaquarium.Inordertoprevent
excessivealgaegrowth,werecommendthatyouselectapositionthatisnotexposed
todirectdaylight.
WestronglyrecommendthattheappropriateJUWELAquariumcabinetisused.They
haveawater-repellentsurfaceandtheyhavebeenmadetomatchthedimensionsand
tobeartheweightofthefilledaquarium.Thecabinetmustbepositionedonalevel
surface.TheJUWELAquariumisbuiltwithaspecialbottomframeforsecurity.The
aquariumshouldbeplaceddirectlyontothecabinet.DONOTplaceanyadditional
support,e.g.polystyrene,undertheaquariumsincethisisnotnecessarywithour
aquariums.

SettingupyourJUWELAquarium
Inordertosetupyouraquariumandtoprepareitforitsintendeduse,pleasefollow
thefollowingguidelines.
1.MakeuptheappropriateJUWELAquariumcabinet.
2.Placetheaquariuminitschosenlocation.
3.Ensurethatthefiltersystemissetupaccordingtotheinstructionsasdescribedin
thismanual.
4.Placeyoursubstrateinthebottomoftheaquariumandplantasdesired.
5.Filltheaquariumwithroomtemperaturewaterslowlythroughthefiltertothered
filllineindicatedinsidetheaquarium-Important-donotoverfill!
6.Connectthepowerheadandheaterandcompletebyplacingthelightunitandflaps
onthetopoftheaquarium.
7.Fortropicalset-ups,allowtheaquariumtoreachthedesiredtemperaturepriorto
theadditionoflivestock.
Youcanaddafewhardyfishafteronlyafewdayssinceyouwillneedsomelivestock
tostartthefiltermaturationprocess.Thefiltercantakebetween6and8weeksto
fullymature.Shouldyouchoosetoaddfurtherlivestockduringthisperiod,thenthis
shouldbeagradualprocess.

Mise en service
Pour mettre votre aquarium en service, procédez de la manière suivante:
1. Installez le meuble le cas échéant.
2. Placez l'aquarium à un endroit approprié après l'avoir contrôlé au préalable.
3. Collez les parois arrière structurées JUWEL, si vous le souhaitez.
4. Préparez le filtre comme cela est indiqué au chapitre "Mise en service du système de
filtre JUWEL".
5. Procédez à la décoration en remplissant le fond etc. selon vos souhaits.
6. Garnissez l'aquarium de plantes le cas échéant avec des espèces de faible croissance.
7. Remplissez lentement d'eau jusqu'à la moitié du volume de l'aquarium par
l'intermédiaire du filtre.
8. Garnissez l'aquarium de plantes le cas échéant à croissance en hauteur.
9. Remplissez lentement d'eau jusqu'à la ligne de niveau par l'intermédiaire du filtre.
10. Raccordez la pompe de circulation et le chauffage au réseau.
11. Installez la lampe de recouvrement et raccordez-la.
12. Refermez l'aquarium à l'aide des clapets prévus à cet effet.
13. Nous vous conseillons d'introduire l'effectif en poissons étape par étape. Vous
pourrez introduire les premiers poissons (4 à 5) quelques jours plus tard. Ils
contribueront aussi à l'élaboration du filtre biologique. La phase de mise en œuvre du
filtre peut durer 6 à 8 semaines. Durant cette période, vous pourrez augmenter votre
effectif en poissons étape par étape.
Indications:
Pour l'utilisation de pierres diffuseuses ou de dispositifs d'aération similaires, veillez
à les placer au milieu de l'aquarium. Ces dispositifs peuvent projeter l'eau sur la
lampe ou former de l'eau de condensation qui pourrait s'écouler sur la paroi
extérieure de l'aquarium. Cet effet ne peut être incombé à un vice du produit.
Ne transportez pas l'aquarium s'il est rempli d'eau.
Veillez à ne pas endommager les joints lorsque vous nettoyez votre aquarium.
N'utilisez aucune substance toxique pour nettoyer votre aquarium.
Le Système Filtre JUWEL Compact Super
Le Système Filtre JUWEL Compact Super est un système de filtration biologique à 2
phases dont les composantes sont parfaitement adaptées les unes avec les autres.
L'installation du filtre dans l'aquarium rend les raccordements de tuyaux inutiles et exclut
les risques de fuite. La puissance de la pompe ne sera ainsi pas diminuée par des
raccords de tuyaux, des tuyaux d'aspiration et autres. L'eau reste à l'intérieur de
l'aquarium.
La capacité de la pompe est conçue de sorte de garantir une filtration biologique
parfaite car l'eau passera au travers du matériel filtrant de manière optimale.
Le Système Filtre JUWEL Compact Super vous permet d'avoir un aquarium dans lequel
aucun mouvement d'eau vient troubler l'aspect. Les poissons ne sont ainsi soumis à
aucun courant et vous obtenez un environnement naturel calme pour vos poissons et vos
plantes.
Le tuyau ascendant ci-joint vous permettra de visualiser le courant d'eau si vous le
souhaitez bien sûr.
L'important volume du filtre assure une excellente filtration mécanique et permet de
s'aménager de larges intervalles de nettoyage.
Ouate filtrante (blanche)
Cette ouate joue le rôle de premier filtre mécanique. Elle empêche aux particules de
saleté grossières telles qu'aux morceaux de plantes mortes de pénétrer plus profondément
dans le filtre.
Mousse de charbon (noire)
La mousse enrichie de charbon actif lié purifie l'eau des métaux lourds toxiques et des
impuretés organiques.
Cartouche dénitrateur (vert)
La cartouche contient des agents biologiques très efficaces, car ceux-ci consument les
nitrates et enlèvent ainsi aux algues la nourriture de base.
Mousse filtrante à pores fins (bleue)
La mousse filtrante à pores fins qui se trouve dans la partie inférieure du filtre retient
même les matières en suspension les plus petites et garantit la production d'une eau
claire comme du cristal.

Installingthefilterintheaquariummakeshoseconnectionsunnecessaryandprevents
leaks.Thepumpoutputisnotnegativelyaffectedbyhosecouplings,intaketubesetc.
Thecapacityofthepumpisdesignedinsuchamannerthatanideallevelofbiological
filteringisensuredbyasufficientlevelofpercolationthroughthefiltermaterial.
Inthatcontext,thelargefiltervolumeensuresexcellentmechanicalfilteringand
facilitateslongcleaningintervals.
TheJUWELfiltersystemBioflowenablesyoutoachievealookintheaquariumwhich
ischaracterizedbyalmostnodiscernablewatermovement.Accordingly,thefishis
exposedtolesscurrents,andyouachieveasemi-naturalpeacefulenvironmentforfish
andplants.Theconstructionofthefiltersystemenablesyoutoquicklyaccessthe
individualheater,pump,andfiltermediacomponents.Thisway,thefiltersystemmay

Theblackactivatedcarbonspongesitsontopofthebluecoarsefiltersponges,and
removeschemicalimpuritiesfromthewaterwhichcannotberemovedbiologically.
NitrateRemovalSponge(green)
TheSpongecontainsmicro-organisms,whichwill,oncedeveloped,resideinsidethe
spongesandinthewater.Thesemicro-organismsfeedofnitratesandwillreducethem
significantly.TheJUWELFiltrationsystemprovidestheoptimumhousingforthese
micro-organisms.
FilterSpongeCoarse(blue)
Thecoarsebluefilterspongesallowbacteriaculturestodevelopquickly,cleaningthe
waterwhichisnowfreefromchemicalimpurities.
FilterSpongeFine(blue)
Thefinebluespongesandthebacteriacultureslivinginthem,cleanthewaterofeven
thesmallestimpurities.

Thehighlyporousfiltermaterialutilizesitsextremelylargesurfaceforeffective

Youshouldpreparethefilterforoperationpriortosettinguptheaquarium.However,
donotconnecttheelectricalcomponentstothepowersupplyyet.

1.Insertthebaseofthepumpintothepumpholderofthefilterandfirmlypushit
intoposition.Inthatcontext,thepumpoutletfacesinthedirectionoftheoutlet
opening.
Confirmtheproperarrangementofthegasketintheoutletopening(itisusedto
minimizethetransmissionofvibrations).
2.Carefullyattachtheoutletnozzlefromtheoutsidethroughtheopeningtothe
pumpoutletandensureitsfirmconnection.
3.Inserttheheaterholderintotheguiderailofthefilterseparationwall.
4.Inserttheheaterfromaboveintotheheaterholder.
5.Nowstartpreparingthefilterspongesbyremovingtheplasticpackagingfromthe
carbonspongeandthenitrateremoverspongeandtheCiraxfiltermedium.Thoroughly
rinsethebluefilterspongesonlyunderrunningwater.
6.Afterthis,inserttheblue"fine"filterspongesandtheCiraxfiltermediumintothe
lowerfilterbasket.Followingthat,placetheblue"rough"filtersponge,thegreen
nitrateremoversponge,thecarbonsponge,andfilterwoolinthetoppositionintothe
upperfilterbasketandpushbothfilterbasketsintothefilterhousing.
7.Placethefiltercoveronthefilterhousing.
8.TheJUWELfiltersystemBioflowisnowreadyforoperation.

TheJUWELAquariumFilterSystemisabiologicalfiltersystem.Forittowork
effectively,bacteriacultureswillneedtogrowinsidethebluesponges.Thisprocess
cantakeup6-8weeksforthefiltertofullymature.Consequentlywerecommendto
decorateandplanttheaquariumandaddjustafew(3-5)hardyfishinordertohelp
thematurationprocess.Pleasetestthewateronaweeklybasistomonitorthewater
conditionsandoncethewaterissafeyoucanbegintoaddmorefish.

ThespecialJUWELAquariumAirDiffuserprovidesadditionaloxygentotheaquariumif

CareandmaintenanceoftheJUWELFilterSystem
TheJUWELFilterSystemrequiresverylittlemaintenanceifyoufollowthefollowing
instructions.
-Replacethewhitefilterwoolpadonceaweek.Ifyouhavelargefish,thenthismay
requirechangingslightlymorefrequently.Thiswillensurethatthefilterspongeswill
notbecloggedbylargerdirtparticles.
-Replacetheblackactivatedcarbonspongeevery4-6weeks.Again,ifyouhavelarge
fishthenthismaybetobemorefrequent.Thisensuresthatanychemicalimpurities
fromthewaterwillberemoved.Pleasenotethatthechemicalswhichareabsorbedby
theactivatedcarboncontainedinthesponge,willbereleasedtothewateragainif
thechangeintervalsaretoolong.
-Ifthefilterwoolandtheactivatedcarbonspongearereplacedassuggested,thenit
issufficienttocarefullycleanorreplacethecoarsebluespongesat6-12weeksand
thefinebluespongesat3-6monthsonly.
-CleaningorreplacingthebluespongesortheCiraxfiltermediumaffectstheimpact
ofthebacterialculture.Forthatreason,itisrecommendednottocleanorreplacethe
bluespongesandtheCiraxfiltermediumatthesametime,butrathersuccessivelyin
analternatingmanner.
Youdonotneedtoworryabouttheliquiddirtaccumulatingatthebottomofthe
filterhousing.Normally,thisdirtcontainsimportantbiologicalsubstanceswhich
enhancethewaterquality.
Pleasedonotworryifsomedirtgetsintothewaterduringthecleaningprocess
causingcloudiness.Afterthefiltersystemisbackinoperation,thewaterwillsoon
clearagain.
-Inordertoallowaproperlevelofmicro-organismsinthefiltrationsystemitis
recommendedtoexchangethespongeevery6weeks.Thenitrateremovalsponge
containsbacteria,whichwillafterawhilereducethenitratelevelintheaquarium
significantly.
Important:
AlwaysuseoriginalJUWELAquariumfiltermediatoensuretheoptimum
performanceofyoursystem.
MaintainingtheJUWELPumpBioflow
TheJUWELaquariumpumprequireslittlemaintenance.Regardless,youshouldconfirm
thefunctionalityatregularintervals.
Pleaseperformthefollowingstepsinordertotestandmaintainthepump:
1.Disconnectthepumpandtheheaterfromthepowersupply.
2.Removethenozzles.
3.Removethepumpfromthepumpholderofthefilter.
4.Removethepumphousingfromthemotorandremovetheimpeller.
5.Thoroughlycleanallpartsandparticularlychecktheimpellerforsignsofwearat
themagnet.
6.Afterthat,pleasereinstallthepumpinreverseorderinthefilter.

TheJUWELaquariumheaterissuppliedwiththeheaterholder(fig.1)whichyouwill
needfortheinstallation.
PleaseperformthefollowingstepsforallJUWELAquariumfiltersystems:
(Youmayneedtostartbyremovinganinstalledseparationwallholder.)
1.Installtheheaterholder.
2.Attachtheheatertothefilterhousingontheinsideofthefilterand/orinitially
inserttheheaterholderintotheguiderailoftheseparationwall.
Theheaterisproperlypositionediftheheaterholderrestsontheupperedgeofthe
housingand/ortheseparationwall.
Theheaterisnowoperational.


Compact, Standard H, Jumbo Compact Super Bioflow
Recommendation:
TheJUWELautomaticheaterwarmsthewaterofyouraquariumupto28°C
dependingonanomalroomtemperatureof18°C.Ifyoukeepyouraquariumin
roomsbelowthisoryourfishneedahighertemperature,werecommendto
purchaseasecondheater.
Safetyinstructions:
Onlyconnecttheheateroncetheaquariumisfilledwithwateratleasttothe
minimumwaterleveloftheheater.
Neverusetheheateroutsidetheaquarium.
Operatetheheaterindoorsonly.
Operationoftheheater
TheJUWELAquariumheaterhasanadjusteronthetoptoallowindividualadjustment
ofthetemperaturetosuityourownrequirements.
Inordertosettheheater,turntheadjusteruntilthetemperatureindicator
correspondstotherequiredtemperaturevalue.
Itcantakeuptotwelvehoursforthewatertoreachthedesiredtemperature
dependingonyourambientroomtemperature.Thereaftertheheaterwillmaintainthe
desiredtemperatureautomaticallyclickingonandoffasrequired.Whentheheateris
heatingasmallredlightcanbeseenfromthetopofthefilterbox.
Werecommendthatyoucheckyourwatertemperaturewithaseparatethermometer.
Pleasecheckyourheaterfrequentlyforanysignsofdamageandreplaceimmediatelyif

Thelightsystemitselfiswaterproofandconsequentlyallowsyoutomaintainthe

Installationofthe"Multilux"LightingSystem
Thewatertightnesscanonlybeguaranteedifthetubeholdershavebeenfirmly
connectedtotheirsockets.Werecommendthatyoucheckthispriortoconnectingthe
lightingunittothepowersupply.
Thelightunitcannowbeplacedontothetopframeandcanbeconnectedtothe
powersupply.Havingdonethispleasefittheflapstoclosetheaquariumcompletely.
Notice:
TheJUWELfluorescenttubesHigh-LiteinT5technologycomplementthe
electroniccomponentsintheJUWELHigh-Litelightunits.Forthatreason,only
usethesefluorescenttubesasoriginalJUWELAquariumsparepart.

CareandMaintenance
TheJUWELAquariumMultiluxlightsystemrequireslittlecareandmaintenance.Clean
theframesusingasofttowelandwarmwateronly.
ChangingtheTubes:
Pleasenotethattubesshouldalwaysbereplacedinpairsandthetubeholdersshould
alsobereplacedastheycontainthevitalsealsthatguaranteewatertightness.
Pleasefollowthefollowingstepstoreplaceyourtubes:
-Disconnectthehoodsystemfromthepowersupply-justswitchingoffisnotenough
-andunscrewthetubeholdersandmovethemtothecentreofthetube.
-Removethetubebypullingitgentlytowardsyou.
-Placethenewtubeholdersonthenewtube.
-Positionthepinsonthetubesinlinewiththeslotsonthetubeholders,pushthe
tubeinuntilitclicksandtightenthenewtubeholdersfirmlytoensureawatertight
seal.
-Placethelightunitbackontheaquariumandreconnecttothepowersupplyand
switchon.

Maintenance et entretien
La galerie d'éclairage JUWEL Aquarium n'exige que peu de maintenance et de soins.
Cependant les tubes fluorescents perdent tout naturellement au cours du temps de leur
puissance lumineuse. Ceci influence bien sûr la croissance de vos plantes dans
l'aquarium. C'est pourquoi nous vous conseillons de remplacer à intervalles réguliers ces
tubes fluorescents.
Remplacement du/des tube/s fluorescent/s:
•Pour assurer le parfait fonctionnement de la lampe, il est impératif de retirer la fiche
de courant avant de remplacer le/les tube/s fluorescent/s! Ne raccordez la galerie
lumineuse au réseau qu'après le remplacement!
•Sortez les anneaux de douille des supports et glissez-les sur les tubes fluorescents.
•Sortez le/les tube/s des douilles.
•Préparez les tubes fluorescents neufs à l'emploi en faisant glisser les anneaux de
douille sur les tubes.
•Insérez les tubes fluorescents neufs dans la douille et serrez à fond les anneaux de
douille en les tournant.
•Rebranchez la rampe.
Instructions de sécurité:
Retirez la fiche de courant à chaque fois que vous changez les tubes fluorescents.
Il ne faut pas réparer la conduite de raccordement. Remplacez toujours la lampe au
complet en cas de détériorations.

purchaserforaperiodof24monthsfromthedateofpurchaseaccordingtothe

performedbymeansofrepairorreplacement.Ifneitherrepairnorreplacementcan

demandareductioninpriceortoreturntheproductagainstrepaymentofthe
purchaseprice.
§2Guaranteeperiodandsettlementprocedure
(1)Theguaranteeperiodbeginsonthedayofthepurchaseoftheproductfromthe
retailer.Claimsunderthisguaranteewillnotbehonoured,if
(a)thedamageiscausedasaresultofimproperuseormaintenanceornon-
observanceoftheinstructionsgiveninthismanual
(b)theproductoritscomponentshavebeenmaintainedbypersonsorcompaniesnot
authorisedbythemanufacturertodoso
(c)theproductoritscomponentshavebeendamagedbymechanicalmeansof
whatsoeverkind,inparticularbrokenglass
(2)Allclaimsunderthisguaranteehavetobenotifiedtotheretailer,fromwhomthe
aquariumhasbeenpurchasedwithoutdelay,however,notlongerthan2weeksfrom
thedayoffirstoccurrenceofdefects.Rightsundertheconsumerprotectionlawswill
remainunaffected.
(3)Guaranteeclaimswillonlybeacceptedifthevalidityoftheclaimissupportedby
evidenceofpurchaseoftheJUWEL-Aquariumproduct.
