1. OUTLINE
The PRSeriesisa serial control- type
regultedDCpowersupply.Itisa constant
voltage/'constantcurrentpowersupply
whose output can.bevariedfrom0 upto
theratedvalues.
, Itisa compactunit which, provided with
bothvoltage— andcurrent- calibrated
meters,allowsbothvoltageandcurrentto
bemonitoredsimultaneously.Intermsof
operability, theunitenableshigh- precision,
continuous variability viacoarseandfine
adjustknobs.Weareconfident that the
unit'sdesignconceived with theuser's
convenienceinmindtoenableadvantages
such asarrangementineasy- to- use
configurationsandits reliability will
satisfy your needs very well.
With thePRSeries,multipleunitsof
thesamemodelcanbeconnectedinparallel
tosetupa "one- control"master/salve
configurationhavingincreasedcurrent
output.
2.FEATURES
. 1 .The PRSeriesisa constantvoltage
/constantcurrentsupply which features
extremely lowvoltageandloadfluctuations
andripplenoise.
2.The unitfeatures separate voltage
andcurrentmetersso that bothvoltageand
currentcanbemonitoredsimultaneously.
3.Outputvoltageandcurrentcanbe
adjustedcontinuouslytoanydesiredvalues.
Furthermore,thevoltagecan-.bepreset
easily andpreciselyusingcoarseandfine
adjustknobs.
4.The constantcurrent circuit poerates
toprotectagainstoverloadand output
shorting.The limiting current.canbe.preset
from 0 uptotheratedcurrent,andthe
unit canalsobeusedasa Constantcurrent
supply.
5.The unitsenables .."one - control"
operationviaconnectioninseries,orvia
parallel connectionina master/ slave
configuration.
6. Using anoptionalrack- '.mounting
frame (sold separately),thePRSeriescan

4.PRECAUTI0NS FORUSE
1. Confirming the supply voltage
* Usethisunit within thespecifiedrange.
The unit'sratedvoltageissingle- phase
100/120/220/240 V AC+ /-10%(max,
250 V)at50/60Hz.
* Theratedvoltageisindicatedonthe
specification andnameplatelocatedbeside
theinputconnectorontherearpanel.
* SeetheMaintenancesection(7- 2.
Changing thesupplyvoltage) for
information onhowtochangtherated
voltage.
2. Precautions for connection of output
terminals
This unitisa floatingtypepower
supply. Forordinaryuse,besure that the
MASTER/SLAVE switch ontherearpanel
is setto MASTER, and that eitherthe(
+) output terminalorthe(-) output
terminal isconnectedtotheGNDterminal
(case GND)viatheshortingbar.
3. Set- up environment
* Besuretousethisunit within the
specified ambienttemperaturerangeof0
to40degC.
* Becausetheunitiscooledbynatural
convection, donotplaceobjectsontop,
placetheunitonornearany heat - emitting
device, orusemultipleunitsinanystacked
configuration. Also, usetheunitinan
environment that isas well cross- ventilated
aspossible.

(1) POWER ON /OFF a
The power switch. Thepowersupply
should beonandoperatingwhenthis switch
is depressed.
(2) POWER LED
A redLED that indicatestheunitisin
operation.
(3) Voltmeter
A DCvoltmeter that indicatesthe output
voltage.
(4) Ammeter
A DCammeter that indecatesthe output
current.
(5)VOLTAGECOARSE
Coarse adjustknobforthe output
voltage.
(6)VOLTAGEFINE
Fine adjustknobforthe output voltage.
(7)CURRENT
Knob forsettingthecurrentvaluein
theconstantcurrentmode.Itcanbeused
tosetthe limiting valueforthe output
current.
(8) Outputterminal( + )
Terminal fortappingof(+) output
voltages.
(9) Outputterminal(-)
Terminal fortappingof(-) output
voltages.
(10) GNDterminal
The groundterminal,itisconnectedto
themainchassis.Normally,thisterminalis
connectedtoeitherthe( + ) or( - )
terminal.

6. OPERATION PROCEDURES
6 - 1.Stand - alone operation
* Whenusingthepowersupplyinstand-
alone, simply operate bymanipulationofthe
panelswitchesasneeded.However,besure
that the MASTER/SLAVE switch issetto
MASTER.
6-2. Serial connection'. - • ' . •
* Twoormoreunitsofthepowersupply,
can behooked:up:inseriesto.achievein
increasein output, voltage...The .final' output-
will bethesumofthe outputs ofthe
individual units..Inthissituation,however,
caremustbetaken that.. thevoltage . of

voltage.
* Inthecaseof serial operationoftwounits
(bothsamemodel);
a. Forconnectionasin Fig.4, the output
voltage,but output current will be limited
to within thevaluespecifiedfora single
unit.

intermediatepointishookeduptoground,
theconfigurationcanbeusedasa plus/
minuspowersupply.

HOOK - UP PROCEDURE;
1) Turn thepowerswitchesofthemaster
unit andslaveunit(s)allto"OFF"
2) Turn the MASTER / SLAVE switch
(located onthebackpanel)onalltheslave
unitsfrom "MASTER"; to. "SLAVE". \
3) Hookuptheparalleloperation-usete-
rminals (IN/OUT, locateci therearpa-
nel) ofthemasterandslave(s)asshown
in Figure6.
4) For connectingthe output terminalsof
each ofthemachinestotheload,useall
cordsofthesamelength.
5) For ( + ) and(-)groundingtotheGND
terminal, hookupthemasterandslave
machinesviatheterminalson.the'.panels.
Figure 7 showsthe output connection
schemefor(-).grounding.
8) Setthe:voltageand.currentknobsof
all theslaveunit(s)tothemaximum
setting.
7) Turn thepowerswitchesofthemaster
unit andslaveunit(s)allto"ON".
Control the output voltageandcurrentas
desired viathevoltageandcurrentknobs
on themasterunit,
* Whenthe output goes to0 amperesin
theparalleloperationmode, output voltage
can nolongerbe.controlledbythe.master
machine. Besuretokeepa current flowing
thatisseveral% c heratedcurrent.

thescrewsonthetopandsidepanelsand
pulling thecaseupwards.

transformerandfusespecificationsasshown
in thefigurebelow.

When a fuseblows,replaceitafter
investigating thecauseoftheblow~ out.
Furthermore,sincealterationsof'the
supply volrtageisaccompaniedbya change
in fusetype/selecta fuse that hasthe
appropriateratingaccordingtothechart
below.
NOTE ; Whenchangingthesupplyvoltage
orreplacinga fuse,removethepowercord
from theACoutlet,
