GENERAL
FEATURES
The PD series arecompactDCpowersuppliesregulatedby
phase control.Theyhavesufficientreliabilityandaccurate
electrical characteristicsandaresuitablefor research, ex-
periments, agingofmanyhours,andforcontrol,etc.Theyare
provided also with meansofprotectionandremotecontrol.
They aredesigned totally forthe ease ofuse.
*The size iscompactowingtothebuilt-inphase-controlled
preregulator.
*Characteristicsofvoltageregulationandagainst noises in-
cluding ripplesareverygood.
*Bothvoltageandcurrentvary little with temperature.
*Theoutputvoltagemaybechangeableinsmall steps with
a potentiometerturnableasmanyastenpositions.
*TheV/l CHECK switchprovidedpermitsto check the
preset valuesofvoltageandcurrentevenduringoperation.
*TheOUTPUTswitchturnsonandofftheoutput.
*Protectioniscomplete from overvoltage,overcurrent,and
excessive temperature rise. TheOVP CHECK funcitonpro-

11 Keeptheoperatingtemperaturerangeof0°to40°C.
Iftheambienttemperature rises excessively,the
device's protectionsystemworksandcutsoffpower.
2) Keepcleartheventilationopenings(at sides andbot-
tom)andthepassageoffanair.Installanyother
devices morethan30cmapart from thoseopenings.
3)Avoidtoinstallthepowersupplyina dustyplaceand
wheretherearemuchcorrosive gases.

cord.
2)Turnthevoltageadjusterknob(VOLTAGE)fullycounter-
clockwise.
3)Turnonthepowerswitch.ThePOWERfred)indicatorlight
andthedeviceisoperated.MakesurethattheOUTPUT
switch isoff(theindicatorisout).
4)Seta desiredvoltagewiththevoltageadjusterknob
(VOLTAGE). Novoltagedevelopsattheoutputterminals
still.
5)Seta currentlimit.
Keeping theV/I CHECK switchdepressed,seta desired
limit ofoutputcurrentwiththecurrentadjusterknob(CUR-
RENT).
6)Turnonoutput.
TurnontheOUTPUTswitch,andthepresetvoltageisout-
putattheoutputterminalswiththeoutputindicatorlit.
Motm:
{1)If excessive currentflowsaswhentheloadisshorted,
thedeviceperformsconstant-currentoperationatthe
preset limit ofoutputcurrentandtheoutputvoltage
falls.
(2) Iftheovervoltageprotectionlevelissetlowerthanthe
preset levelofoutputvoltage,thepowerswitchwillbe
turnedoffbyovervoltageprotection.

ASA CONSTANT-CURRENT POWER SUPPLY
1)Checktheratedinputvoltage,thenconnectthepower
cord.
2)Turnthecurrentadjusterknob(CURRENT)fullycounter-
clockwise.
3)Turnonthepowerswitch.ThePOWER(red)indicator
lightsandthedeviceisinconstant-currentmode.Make
sure thattheOUTPUTswitchisoff(theindicatorisout).
4)Seta desiredcurrent.
Keeping theV/I CHECK switchdepressed,seta desired
constant currentwiththecurrentadjusterknob(CUR-
RENT).
5)Seta voltagelimit.
Set a desiredvoltage limit withthevoltageadjusterknob
(VOLTAGE). Itistheovervoltageprotectionlevel.
6)Turnonoutput.
TurnontheOUTPUTswitch,andtheoutputindicator
lightsandthepowerisoutputthroughtheoutputter-
minals.
Note:
Ifitisnotpreferabletoapplycurrentsuddenlyliketoa large
inductance load,turnthecurrentadjusterknob(CURRENT)
fullycounterclockwiseandincreasecurrentgraduallyafter
turningontheoutput.

HOW TO CHECK VOLTAGE AND CURRENT
11Voltage/Currentpresetting
Whenthe V/I-'CHECK'switch isdepressed,theconstant-
voltageisindicatedonthevoltmeterandconstantcurrent
is indicatedonthecurrentmeter.Hereupon,itispossibleto
set a desiredvoltageorcurrent with thevoltageadjuster
knob(VOLTAGE)orcurrentadjusterknob(CURRENT).
2)Voltage/Currentcheck
WhentheV/I CHECK switchisdepressedatconstant-
currentoperation,thepresetcurrentandthepresetvoltage
can bechecked.
HOWTOSET OVERVOLTAGE PROTECTION
(OVP) LEVEL
Keeping theOVP CHECK switchdepressed,theovervoltage
protectionlevelindicatedonthevoltmeter.
(1)TurnofftheOUTPUTswitch.
(2)KeepingtheOVP CHECK switchdepressed, screw the
OVP adjuster with a screwdriverandsetanovervoltage
protectionlevel.
(3)TurnontheOUTPUTswitch with noloadconnected(the
indicatorlights).Raisingtheoutputvoltagegradually,
check ifthepowerswitchturnsoffatthepresetover-
voltageprotectionlevel.
(4)Settheovervoltageprotectionlevelatthemaximum
readingoftheoutputvoltmeterifovervoltageprotection
is not necessary.
USE OF REAR-PANEL TERMINALS
The outputandcontrolterminalsshownaboveareequipped
ontherearpanel.Theseterminalsmaybeusedtoperform
remote sensing, remotecontrolofoutputvoltageandoutput
current,master/slavecontroloperation with powersupply
connected in series orparallel.
REMOTE SENSING
Whenthedeviceisconnectedtoa load,voltagedropsdueto
contact resistanceattheoutputterminalsandresistanceof
conductors. Remote sensing isperformedtocompensatefor
thevoltagedrop.
1)Turnoffpower.
2)Removetheshortbars© - <J§) and© - <3>.
3)Connect(£§)and<3)totheload.Usea two-coreshield
cable forthese sensing linesandconnecttheshieldlineto
©output.

PRECAUTIONS WHENUSING REMOTE-CONTROL
This unit adoptsthe floating circuit system. Ithasterminals iso-
lated from theframeandcontrols output poweronthe basis of
thepositive(-+outputterminal.
To controlthe constant voltageandconstantcurrentsettingsus-
ingexternalvoltage,connectthepositive(+) output terminaland
GND terminalonthe front panelasfollows:
The GNDandpositive( + ) terminalsshouldbeconnected with
theshortbar(asshownabove)oropen(asshownbelow):
