Your Sterling Toilet
Crafted from a clay mixture that is fired at an intense heat to vitrify
the clay and fuse the glaze, your Sterling toilet is scratch- and
abrasion-resistant. Its surface won’t stain, discolor, rust, or fade. Every
component in your Sterling toilet is specifically designed to increase
the toilet’s useful life.
Care and Cleaning
Clean the outside surface of your vitreous china toilet with mild soap
and warm water. Wipe the entire surface completely dry with a clean,
soft cloth. You may use soft abrasive cleaners when necessary to clean
your toilet. Do not use strong abrasive cleaners, as they will scratch
and dull the surface. Wipe any splashes of cleaner solutions from
plastic or plated surfaces immediately. Use toilet bowl cleaners on the
inside of the bowl only.
If the surface becomes excessively dirty, use a general purpose cleaner

Over time, hard water deposits may clog toilet rim holes and
trapways. To clean, use a commercial cleaner that is recommended for
removing hard water deposits. Follow the cleaner manufacturer’s
instructions.

Care and Cleaning (cont.)
WARNING: Risk of property or product damage. Do not use
in-tank cleaners in your toilet. Products containing chlorine
(calcium hypochlorite) can seriously damage fittings in the
tank. This damage can cause leakage and property damage.
Sterling shall not be responsible or liable for any tank fitting damage
caused by the use of cleaners containing chlorine (calcium
hypochlorite).

Install the Push Buttons
Press the large push button in the center of the cover, and use
your fingers to carefully pull out and remove the small push
button. Then pull out and remove the large push button.
Press the large push button onto the larger diameter rod, and the
small push button onto the smaller rod.
Insert the rods into the side holes in the push button housing in
the center of the cover. Press down on the push buttons until they
click into place in the housing.
Flush the toilet several times using first one push button and then
the other to verify proper operation.

Replace the Seal
Shut off the water supply to the toilet. Flush the toilet to relieve
water pressure in the flush valve.
Carefully remove the tank cover, and set it upside down on a
clean, soft surface.
Note the position of the colored buttons on the top of the flush
valve canister for reinstallation. Squeeze the tabs on both sides of
the canister, and pull the canister straight up and out of the flush
valve.
Remove and replace the seal on the bottom of the canister.
Reinstall the canister by pressing it into the flush valve so it snaps
into place.
Rotate the canister as needed so the colored buttons are in their
original positions.
Carefully reinstall the tank cover onto the tank.
Turn on the water supply to the toilet.
Flush the toilet several times using first one push button and then
the other to verify proper operation.
Check for leakage.

Warranty - Five-Year Limited
Vitreous China Toilets and Lavatories
Based on the classification specified above, Sterling Plumbing, a
division of Kohler Co., (Sterling) toilets and lavatories made of vitreous
china are warranted to be free of manufacturing defects for 5 years
from the date of sale. Sterling also warrants for 5 years from the date
of sale that its low consumption toilets will be free of manufacturing
defects that prevent one flush cleaning of the bowl per ASME
A112.19.6 1990 performance requirements, when installed and operated
per instructions packed with the product.
Sterling will, at its election, repair, rectify or replace a fixture when
Sterling’s inspection discloses any such defects occurring in normal
usage within the time period of coverage stated above. Sterling is not
responsible for removal or installation costs where replacement is
indicated. Damages due to improper handling, installation or
maintenance are not considered manufacturing defects and are not
covered by this warranty. This warranty is valid for the original
consumer purchaser only.

To the extent permitted by law, all implied warranties including that
of merchantability and fitness of particular purpose are hereby
disclaimed. Sterling disclaims any liability for special, incidental, or
consequential damages. Some states/provinces do not allow
limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, or the exclusion or
limitation of special, incidental or consequential damages, so these
limitations and exclusions may not apply to you. This warranty gives
you specific legal rights. You may have other rights which vary from
state/province to state/province.

Troubleshooting Tips
NOTE: This troubleshooting guide is for general aid only. For
warranty service, contact your dealer or wholesale distributor.
NOTE: If the problem is water continuously running into the toilet,
turn off the water supply to the toilet. Do not flush. If the water
level in the tank lowers, replace the flush valve seal. If the level in
the tank remains constant, replace the float valve.

1. Poor flush. A. Adjust the tank water level to match the
waterline.
B. Fully open the water supply shut-off valve.
C. Clear obstructions from the trapway, jet or bowl
rim holes.
D. Clear obstructions in the soil pipe or vent pipe.
2. No flush. A. Make sure the push button rods are in place.
Adjust as needed per the ″Install the Push
Buttons″section.
3. The fill
valve turns
on/off by
itself, or it
runs,
allowing
water to
enter the
tank.
A. Adjust push button rods for proper slack so the
flush valve seal isn’t held off the flush valve.
B. Clean or replace the flush valve seal if it is worn,
dirty, or misaligned with the valve seat or flush
valve seat is damaged.
C. Remove the tank and tighten the flush valve nut
if flush valve gasket is leaking. Do not
overtighten. If leakage continues, replace the
gasket.
D. Clean the fill valve seat/seat washer of debris, or
replace the piston/seat washer assembly.
E. Replace the fill valve if the valve float sinks.
F. Adjust the tank water level if it is too high.
4. Long tank
fill cycle. A. Fully open the water supply shut-off valve.
B. Clean the valve inlet, valve head, or supply line.
Flush the lines.
5. Noisy tank
fill cycle. A. Partially close the water supply shut-off valve if the water pressure to the toilet is too high. Check
the toilet performance following any such
adjustment.
B. Remove dirt or obstructions from the valve head.

Entretien et nettoyage
Nettoyer la surface extérieure du produit en porcelaine vitrifiée avec
un savon doux et de l’eau chaude. Essuyer complètement toute la
surface avec un chiffon doux et propre. Des nettoyants abrasifs
peuvent être utilisés selon la nécessité pour nettoyer le W.C. Ne pas
utiliser de nettoyants abrasifs forts car ils pourraient rayer et abîmer la
surface. Essuyer immédiatement toutes éclaboussures du nettoyant des
surfaces en plastique ou plaquées. N’utiliser de nettoyant pour cuvette
que sur la surface intérieure de celle-ci.

Avec le temps, des dépôts de calcaire peuvent se former et boucher les
trous du rebord du W.C. et du siphon. Pour nettoyer, acheter un
détergent professionnel recommandé pour les dépôts de calcaire.
Suivre les instructions de nettoyage du fabricant.
AVERTISSEMENT : Risque d’endommagent du produit. Ne
pas utiliser des détergents conçus pour le réservoir dans le
W.C. Les produits qui contiennent du chlore (hypochlorite de
