This gas conversion kit installation instructions must be used in
conjunction with the installation and operation manual provided with
the appliance. Please read the appliance owner’s manual completely
before performing any procedures in these instructions. All warnings,
precautions, and instructions outlined in the manual provided with the
appliance will continue to apply to these instructions.

High Altitude Conversions
For high altitude installations in the United States, refer to the
American Gas Association guidelines for the gas designed appliances
derating method. For elevations above 2,000’(610m), input ratings are
to be reduced by 4% for each 1,000’(305m) above sea level.
When the appliance is installed at elevations above 4,500’(1,372m),
the certied high altitude rating shall be reduced at the rate of 4% for
each additional 1,000’(305m). Refer also to CSA-B149.1 Natural Gas
and Propane Installation Code, local authorities, or codes which have
jurisdiction in your area regarding the derate guidelines.
CAUTION: The gas supply shall be shut o prior to disconnecting the
electrical power, before proceeding with the conversion.
A. Prepare the Fireplace
Step 1: Remove the safety barrier and glass frame assembly.
Step 2: Remove log set, lava rock, and panel set (if installed).
Step 3: Remove pilot shield.
Step 4: Remove the front and back log plates.
Step 5: Remove the burner heat shield
Refer to the installation manual for more information.
B. Replace Burner Orice
Step 1: Remove the existing burner orice. See FIGURE 1.
Step 2: Replace with the orice cap included with this kit. Tighten cap
securely. The size are stamped on the orices.

C. Convert Pilot Assembly
Step 1: Remove (2) screws securing the pilot assembly to the pilot
bracket.
Step 2: Place a ⁄” wrench on the upper tting and ½” wrench
on the lower tting, and loosen the pilot hood by turning
counterclockwise.
Step 3: Remove the pilot hood and existing pilot orice inside the
lower tting.
Step 4: Install new pilot orice included with the kit (number stamped
on pilot orices) into the lower tting.
Step 5: Reattach pilot hood and tighten using ⁄” wrench on the
upper tting and ½”wrench on the lower tting. Fitting should
be snug. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN!
Step 6: Verify the pilot hood is positioned as shown in FIGURE 2. Finally
alignment of ame sensor and hood outlet is critical for proper
ignition.
Step 7: Attach pilot assembly to pilot bracket with screws previously
removed.

D. Convert Gas Control Valve
Step 1: With a T20 Torx (star-bit) driver, remove (2) screws from the
regulator solenoid assembly. See FIGURE 3.
Step 2: Remove and discard the old stepper regulator solenoid
assembly and gasket from valve body.
Step 3: Remove the protective plastic cover on the included stepper
regulator solenoid assembly.
Step 4: Install new gasket into the gasket groove and place stepper
regulator solenoid assembly on to the valve.
Step 5: Secure the assembly to the gas valve with (2) screws previously
removed. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN!
Step 6: Connect the new stepper regulator solenoid assembly gang
plug into the control module as shown in
Step 7: Slide the fuel type selector to NG. See FIGURE 4.
E. Complete the Conversion
Step 1: Adjust the burner venturi. Loosen the screw securing the
venturi cap and adjust to the correct setting. See FIGURE 5
and TABLE 2.
Regardless of venturi orientation, closing the air shutter will
achieve a desired yellow ame, but may produce soot on the
glass. Opening the air shutter will cause a short, blue ame that
may lift o the burner.
Slight adjustments to the venturi opening will create dramatic
results. Adjust at slight increments until desired look is achieved.
Step 2: Reinstall all components previously removed in section A(pg.
3). Refer to the installation manual for more information.
Step 3: Turn the manual valve counterclockwise to the ON position.
Step 4: Reconnect electrical power.
Step 5: Check for leaks at all connections with soapy water.

F. Test Inlet Pressure
IMPORTANT: For a proper pressure reading, apply the gas supply
pressure tests with all other gas appliances on or at full capacity in the
household.
Step 1: Loosen the inlet (IN) pressure tap screw (counterclockwise) on
the gas valve. See (A) in FIGURE 6.
Step 2: Attach a manometer to the inlet pressure tap with a ¼” (6mm)
ID hose.
Step 3: Light the pilot and burner. Verify manometer reading is
between the recommended minimum and maximum pressure
settings. See TABLE 3.
Step 4: Turn o pilot and burner.
Step 5: Disconnect hose and tighten the inlet pressure tap screw
(clockwise). The screw should be snug; do not over tighten.
Step 6: Relight the pilot and burner.
Step 7: Reattach the manometer to the inlet pressure tap to verify tap
is completely sealed. Manometer should read no pressure.

G. Test Manifold Pressures
Step 1: Loosen the manifold (OUT) pressure tap screw
(counterclockwise) on the gas valve. See (B) in FIGURE 6.
Step 2: Attach a manometer to the outlet pressure tap with a ¼”(6mm)
ID hose.
Step 3: Light the pilot and burner. Verify manometer reading is
between the recommended low and high pressure settings.
See TABLE 4.
Step 4: Turn o pilot and burner.
Step 5: Disconnect hose and tighten the outlet pressure tap screw
(clockwise). The screw should be snug; do not over tighten.
Step 6: Relight the pilot and burner.
Step 7: Reattach the manometer to the outlet pressure tap to verify tap
is completely sealed. Manometer should read no pressure.

H. Verify Operation
Step 1: Light the pilot. Visually check the pilot ame to verify ame
envelops the top of the ame sensor and extends far enough
onto the burner for proper ignition. See FIGURE 7.
Step 2: To adjust the pilot ame, turn the pilot adjustment screw on the
gas valve clockwise to decrease ame, and counterclockwise to
increase ame.
Step 3: Turn the appliance o.
Step 4: Ax the gas type sticker on or near the gas valve.
Step 5: Reinstall the glass frame assembly and safety barrier.
Step 6: Light the pilot and burner. Visually check the main burner ame
appearance (FIGURE 8) for proper ignition and operation of
the replace. Refer to the installation manual for complete
adjustment procedures.
Step 7: Complete and ax the ‘Gas Conversion’ labels as close to the
rating plate as possible.
Step 8: Verify the input rating of the converted appliance. See TABLE 5.
