1.1 Introduction
We welcome you as an new owner of a Kozy Heat gas replace.
We have created this guide to help you better understand
your replace and its system. If you have any questions or
comments, we oer continual support and guidance to help
you achieve the maximum benet and enjoyment from your
Kozy Heat gas replace.
The Komfor 8K Remote is a multifunction control designed to
control your pilot light, ame height, fan blower speed, and
auxiliary function (if applicable). The remote can also function
as thermostat to automatically control the temperature of the
room in which your replace is installed.
Refer to your unit installation and operation manual for more
information.
1.2 Setup Komfort 8K Remote
Verify (3) AAA batteries are installed with correct polarity in
the remote control battery bay. Ensure batteries are fresh and
fully charged.
1.3 Automatic Safety Turn-o
This system will execute an automatic turn OFF command after
8 hours of continuous main burner operation.
1.4 Backup Battery Operation
This appliance will operate on the backup battery pack in a
power outage. The lifespan of the backup batteries depends
on various factors, such as the quality of the batteries, number
of ignitions, etc.
Only install backup batteries in power outages only. Do not
leave batteries installed in the backup battery pack.
1.5 Control System 7 Day Time-out
If your Komfort 8K control system is set to pilot-on-demand
ignition with 7consecutive days without ignition of the main
burner, the pilot will turn o. This is a standard safety feature of
the Komfort 8K control system.
Once you turn the pilot-on-demand on, the 7day timer will
start. If at any time during the following 7days your main
burner ignites, it will reset the timer back to 7days.
See section 1.6.7 on page 3 for more information about
pilot ignition selection.
How to check if your system is set to pilot-on-demand:
• The remote control screen will display the snowake with
text PILOT icon.
To select the preferred pilot ignition:
1. Press the MENU button to activate the menu.
2. Using the UP and DOWN arrows, highlight the PILOT icon
and press SELECT.
3. Use the UP and DOWN arrows to turn the pilot-on-
demand ON or OFF, then press SELECT.
• A single beep will be emitted from the control module
indicating pilot-on-demand feature has been activated.
• A double beep will be emitted from the control module
indicating the pilot-on-demand feature has been
deactivated.

1.6 Remote Control Operation
1.6.1 Idle Mode
The remote control will go into an idle mode when the remote
is ON if no buttons are pressed within (5) seconds. Press any
button to resume full functionality. In idle mode, only active
function swill show on the screen.
1.6.2 Standby Mode
The remote control will go into a standby mode if no buttons
are pressed within (5) minutes. Press the POWER button to
reactivate the remote control to ON mode. Active functions
will be displayed once in ON mode.

1.6.3 Temperature Display
To change the temperature display between Celsius and
Fahrenheit,
Remove the battery cover from the back of the control. Slide
the switch to desired temperature scale. Reinstall batteries and
battery cover.
1.6.4 Child Lock
To lock the remote to avoid unsupervised operation,
Press and hold the MENU and UP arrow buttons simultaneous
for 4 seconds to enable or disable the child lock feature.
1.6.5 Turn ON the Appliance
With the system in the OFF position, press the remote control
POWER button to turn ON the appliance.
• The appliance will attempt to ignite the pilot (if Pilot-on-
Demand function is OFF). Once the pilot ame is rectied,
the main burner will ignite.
• Whenever the appliance is cycled from OFF to ON, the
main burner will light on high for 10 seconds before
returning to the previous user setting.
• All functions can be accessed when the remote control
is ON. Only active functions will be displayed when the
remote control is ON.
• The transmission indicator icon will ash and a single
beep will conrm the reception of the command.
1.6.6 Turn OFF the Appliance
With the system in the ON position, press the remote control
POWER button to turn OFF the appliance.
• Functions AUX1, AUX2, and Pilot-on-Demand can
be accessed when the remote control is OFF. Only
active functions will be displayed when the remote
control is OFF.
• The transmission indicator icon will ash and a single
beep will conrm the reception of the command.
1.6.7 Pilot Ignition Selection (Intermittent
or Pilot-on-Demand)
This system has the option of a pilot-on-demand, allowing the
system to change from a spark-to-pilot system to the pilot-on-
demand option. The pilot-on-demand will keep the rebox
warm and establish a draft in the vent, which allows the main
burner to ignite with less air-ow disruption.
To select the preferred pilot ignition,
1. Press the MENU button to activate the menu.
2. Using the UP and DOWN arrows, highlight the PILOT icon
and press SELECT.
3. Use the UP and DOWN arrows to turn the pilot-on-
demand ON or OFF, then press SELECT.
• The transmission indicator icon will ash and a single
beep will be emitted from the control module indicating
pilot-on-demand feature has been activated. The remote
control screen will display the snowake with text
PILOT icon.
• The transmission indicator icon will ash and a double
beep will be emitted from the control module indicating
the pilot-on-demand feature has been deactivated. The
remote control will not display the snowake with text
PILOT icon.

1.6.8 Flame Adjustment
This control system has (5) ame levels. Flame height will not
be adjustable for the rst (10) seconds when the appliance is
turned ON. The control system will remember the previous
ame level setting and will automatically adjust after
(10) seconds.
To adjust the ame level,
1. Press the MENU button to activate the menu.
2. Using the UP and DOWN arrows, highlight the FLAME icon
and press SELECT.
3. Use the UP and DOWN arrows to adjust the ame level to
desired setting, then press SELECT.
• The transmission indicator icon will ash and a single
beep will conrm the reception of the command.
1.6.9 Thermostat Operation
The remote control can operate as a room thermostat. The
thermostat can be set to a desired temperature to control a
room’s comfort level.
This control system requires a two degree Fahrenheit or higher
temperature dierence between the room temperature and
set temperature for the replace to turn on.
The system will remember the previous temperature setting
when thermostat mode is cycled ON or OFF.
To activate this function,
1. Press the MENU button to activate the menu.
2. Using the UP and DOWN arrows, highlight the THERMO
icon and press SELECT.
3. Use the UP and DOWN arrows to turn the THERMO ON or
OFF, then press SELECT. The SET TEMP will start blinking.
Using the UP and DOWN arrows, select the desired
temperature and press SELECT.
• If the thermostat function is on, the set temperature
can be adjusted at any time by pressing the UP and
DOWN arrows.
• As the room temperature approaches the set temperature,
the remote system will automatically adjust the
ame height.
• If the room temperature rises above the set temperature,
the replace will shut down the main burner. The replace
will turn back on after the room temperature drops below
the set temperature.

1.6.10 Fan Speed Control (if applicable)
The fan speed can be adjust through (3) speeds: HIGH,
MEDIUM, LOW.
The fan is controlled by a timer built into the control module.
After the replace is turned ON, the timer will wait for (3)
minutes before turning on the fan. After the replace is turned
OFF, the fan will remain on for (12) minutes.
To activate this function,
1. Press the MENU button to activate the menu.
2. Using the UP and DOWN arrows, highlight the FAN icon
and press SELECT.
3. Use the UP and DOWN arrows to adjust to desired fan
speed, then press SELECT.
• The transmission indicator icon will ash and a single
beep will conrm the reception of the command.
1.6.11 AUX1 Function - Light Kit (if applicable)
The AUX1 intensity can be adjusted through (4) levels: HIGH,
MEDIUM, LOW, and OFF.
The system will remember the previous AUX1 setting from
the menu. However, when the appliance is turned OFF, AUX1
function will be turned o. AUX1 can be activated when the
remote control is OFF. When the appliance is turned back ON,
the AUX1 setting will be restored to the previous ON setting.
To activate this function,
1. Press the MENU button to activate the menu.
2. Using the UP and DOWN arrows, highlight the AUX1 icon
and press SELECT.
3. Use the UP and DOWN arrows to adjust to desired light kit
intensity.
• The transmission indicator icon will ash and a single
beep will conrm the reception of the command.

1.6.12 AUX2 Function (if applicable)
This function controls the ON/OFF function of the AUX2
component. The system will remember the previous AUX2
setting from the menu. However, when the appliance is turned
OFF, AUX2 function will be turned o. AUX2 can be activated
when the remote control is OFF. When the appliance is turned
back ON, the AUX2 setting will be restored to the previous
ON setting.
To activate this function,
1. Press the MENU button to activate the menu.
2. Using the UP and DOWN arrows, highlight the AUX2 icon
and press SELECT.
3. Use the UP and DOWN arrows to turn the AUX2 ON or OFF,
then press SELECT.
• The transmission indicator icon will ash and a single
beep will conrm the reception of the command.
1.6.13 Timer Adjustment
This control system has the option to set a timer function to
turn OFF the main burner operation. The timer operates in
increments of 15, 30, 45, 50, 90, 120, and 180 minutes.
To activate this function,
1. Press the MENU button to activate the menu.
2. Using the UP and DOWN arrows, highlight the TIMER icon
and press SELECT.
3. Use the UP and DOWN arrows to turn the TIMER ON or
OFF, then press SELECT.
4. Using the UP and DOWN arrows, select the desired set
time and press SELECT.
• The transmission indicator icon will ash to conrm the
reception of the command.

1.1 Réglage du module de
contrôle Komfort 8K
Vérier que des piles neuves sont bien installées (bon sens de
polarité) dans la télécommande.
1.2 Auto-commande d’arrêt de sécurité
Le système de contrôle exécutera une auto-commande d’arrêt de
sécurité après 8 heures de fonctionnement continu du brûleur.
1.3 Utilisation avec bloc-piles de secours
Lors d’une panne de courant, cet appareil peut fonctionner avec le
bloc-piles de secours. La durée de vie des piles du bloc-piles dépend
de divers facteurs : qualité des piles, fréquence d’allumage, etc.
Installez les piles de secours seulement lors d’une panne de courant. Ne
laissez pas les piles installées dans le bloc-piles de secours.
1.4 Minuterie 7 jours du
système de contrôle
Si votre système de contrôle Komfort 8K utilise la fonction «Veilleuse
sur demande» («Pilot-on-demand») et que durant 7jours consécutifs
le brûleur n’a pas été allumé, la veilleuse s’éteindra. Ceci est un
dispositif de sécurité standard du système Komfort 8K.
Dès que vous activerez l’option «Veilleuse sur demande», la minuterie
7jours commencera à compter. Si au cours des 7jours suivants,
votre brûleur s’allume, le système remettra la minuterie à zéro pour
compter un autre délai de 7jours.
Voir la section 1.6.5 (page 9) pour plus d’information sur la
sélection du mode d’allumage de la veilleuse.
Voici comment vérier si votre système utilise la fonction «Veilleuse sur
demande» («Pilot-on-demand») :
• L’écran de la télécommande achera l’icône de VEILLEUSE
(ocon de neige avec le mot «Pilot»).
Pour sélectionner le mode d’allumage de veilleuse désiré :
1. Appuyez sur la touche MENU pour acher le menu.
2. En utilisant les touches échées HAUT et BAS, sélectionnez (en
surbrillance) l’icône de la VEILLEUSE et appuyez sur SELECT.
3. Avec les touches HAUT/BAS, activez (ON) ou désactivez (OFF) le
mode «veilleuse sur demande», puis appuyez sur SELECT.
• Un seul «bip» émis par le module de contrôle indiquera que le
mode «veilleuse sur demande» est activé.
• Un double «bip» émis par le module de contrôle indiquera que le
mode «veilleuse sur demande» est désactivé.

1.5 Fonctionnement de la télécommande
1.5.1 Réglage d’achage de température
La télécommande passera en mode Repos lorsqu’elle est allumée et
qu’aucune touche n’est sélectionnée dans un délai de (5) secondes.
Appuyez sur n’importe quelle touche pour rétablir les fonctionnalités.
En mode Repos, seules les fonctions actives sont achées.
1.6 Mode Veille
La télécommande passera en mode Veille si aucune touche n’est
sélectionnée dans un délai de (5) secondes. Appuyez sur la touche
POWER pour rallumer la télécommande en mode normal. Une fois le
mode normal rétabli, les fonctions actives seront achées.

1.6.1 Achage de la température
Pour modier l’unité de température achée (Celsius/Fahrenheit) :
Retirez le couvercle à l’arrière de la télécommande. Positionnez le
commutateur à l’unité de température désirée (°C ou °F). Réinstallez
les piles et le couvercle du logement des piles.
1.6.2 Verrouillage de sécurité-enfants
Pour verrouiller la télécommande an d’éviter un fonctionnement
sans surveillance :
Appuyez simultanément sur les touches MENU et FLÉCHÉE HAUT et
tenez-les enfoncées durant 4 secondes pour activer ou désactiver la
fonction Verrouillage de sécurité-enfants.
1.6.3 Pour allumer l’appareil
Lorsque le système est éteint (position «OFF»), appuyez sur la touche
POWER de la télécommande pour allumer l’appareil.
• L’appareil fera un essai d’allumage de la veilleuse (si la fonction
«Veilleuse sur demande» est désactivée [OFF]). Dès que la
amme de veilleuse sera allumée (courant redressé), le brûleur
s’allumera.
• À chaque fois que l’appareil passe de la position OFF à ON, le
brûleur s’allume au réglage maximal (niveau «High») durant 10
secondes, puis revient au dernier réglage de l’utilisateur.
• Vous pouvez accéder à toutes les fonctions lorsque la
télécommande est allumée (à «ON»). Seules les fonctions actives
sont achées lorsque la télécommande est allumée.
• L’icône d’indication de transmission clignotera et un seul «bip»
conrmera que la commande est reçue.
•
1.6.4 Pour éteindre l’appareil
Lorsque le système est allumé (position «ON»), appuyez sur la touche
POWER de la télécommande pour éteindre l’appareil.
• Vous pouvez accéder aux fonctions AUX1, AUX2 et «Veilleuse sur
demande» lorsque la télécommande est éteinte (à «OFF»). Seules
les fonctions actives sont achées lorsque la télécommande
est éteinte.
• L’icône d’indication de transmission clignotera et un seul «bip»
conrmera que la commande est reçue.
1.6.5 Choix du mode d’allumage de veilleuse
(Intermittent ou Veilleuse sur demande)
Ce système comporte une option de «Veilleuse sur demande», pour
passer du système d’allumage à étincelle (Intermittent) au système
de Veilleuse sur demande. Le mode «Veilleuse sur demande» permet
de garder la chambre de combustion chaude et d’établir un tirage
dans le conduit d’évacuation, permettant au brûleur de s’allumer avec
moins de perturbations dues aux courants d’air.
Pour choisir le mode d’allumage de veilleuse désiré :
1. Appuyez sur la touche MENU pour acher le menu.
2. Avec les touches échées HAUT et BAS, sélectionnez l’icône de la
veilleuse (ocon de neige) et appuyez sur SELECT.
3. Avec les touches échées HAUT et BAS, activez ou désactivez
le mode de Veilleuse sur demande («Pilot-On-Demand»), puis
appuyez sur SELECT.
• Veilleuse sur demande activée : L’icône d’indication de
transmission clignote et le module de contrôle émet un (1)
seul «bip». Alors, l’écran de la télécommande ache l’icône de
VEILLEUSE (ocon de neige avec le mot «Pilot»).
• Veilleuse sur demande désactivée : L’icône d’indication de
transmission clignote et le module de contrôle émet deux (2)
«bips». Alors, l’écran de la télécommande n’ache pas l’icône de
VEILLEUSE (ocon de neige avec le mot «Pilot»).

1.6.6 Réglage de amme
Ce système de contrôle ore (5) niveaux de réglage de amme.
La hauteur de amme ne peut pas être ajustée durant les dix (10)
premières secondes suivant l’allumage de l’appareil. Le système
de contrôle garde en mémoire le dernier réglage de hauteur de
amme et reprend automatiquement ce réglage après le délai de
(10) secondes.
Pour ajuster le niveau de réglage de amme :
1. Appuyez sur la touche MENU pour acher le menu.
2. En utilisant les touches échées HAUT et BAS, sélectionnez (en
surbrillance) l’icône de FLAMME et appuyez sur SELECT.
3. Avec les touches échées HAUT/BAS, ajustez les ammes au
réglage désiré, puis appuyez sur SELECT.
• L’icône d’indication de transmission clignotera et un seul «bip»
conrmera que la commande est reçue.
1.6.7 Utilisation du thermostat
La télécommande peut fonctionner comme un thermostat ambiant.
Le thermostat peut être réglé à la température désirée pour contrôler
le niveau de confort dans une pièce.
Ce système de contrôle requiert une diérence de température d’au
moins deux degrés Fahrenheit entre la température ambiante et le
réglage de température demandé, pour que le foyer s’allume.
Le système de contrôle garde en mémoire le dernier réglage de
température lorsque le mode thermostat est activé ou désactivé.
Pour activer la fonction Thermostat :
1. Appuyez sur la touche MENU pour acher le menu.
2. En utilisant les touches échées HAUT et BAS, sélectionnez (en
surbrillance) l’icône du THERMOSTAT et appuyez sur SELECT.
3. Utilisez les touches échées HAUT et BAS pour activer (à ON) ou
désactiver (à OFF) la fonction THERMOSTAT, puis appuyez sur
SELECT. La température de réglage (Set temp) commencera à
clignoter. Avec les touches échées HAUT/BAS, sélectionnez la
température désirée, puis appuyez sur SELECT.
• Si la fonction thermostat est activée, le réglage de température
demandée peut être ajusté en tout temps avec les
touches échées.
• Lorsque la température ambiante approche de la température
de réglage demandée, le système de télécommande ajuste
automatiquement la hauteur de amme.
• Si la température ambiante dépasse la température demandée,
le foyer éteint le brûleur. Le foyer se rallumera lorsque la
température ambiante descendra au-dessous de la température
demandée.
