ABOUT Your LA2-RC2-Kitchen
The LA2-RC2-Kitchen air purifier was designed to provide long service. The unit was designed to
be easily repairable. The product warranty is 7 years but you can expect 15 or more years of
useful product life. The LA2-RC2-Kitchen is a heavy duty all air purifier. There are no circuit
boards. We use simple switches that if necessary are easy to replace.
Unpacking
Your LA2-RC2-Kitchen air purifier is shipped on a 26" x 26" pallet. If you ever need to ship your
air purifier back to the factory it MUST be shipped strapped to a pallet. The LA2-RC2-Kitchen was
designed to be easily repaired so it is unlikely to need to ship your unit back.
Care should be taken while unpacking the MAX Guard. The unit is quite heavy and the box
should be placed in the upright position. It may be necessary to slice the corners of the box if you
are unable to lift the unit out.
It is a good idea to get help from another person while removing the unit from the box. Place the
air purifier on a flat surface. The LA2-RC2-Kitchen is a high-volume air purifying system and can
clean the air in a large area. However, to clean the air, the air must get to the unit. Unit location
will be best if the product is centrally located in the room. Use of an additional fan to move the
air in the space may be helpful.

MOUNTING YOUR LakeAir MODEL LA-1400S OR 2000S ELECTRONIC AIR CLEANER
LakeAir provides a 10’ cord with every air cleaner, but it is the responsibility of the purchaser
to provide adequate outlet which meets local codes. An approved extension cord may be
used if it meets local and national codes.
The LA2-RC2 units are designed with 4 mounting holes on the top and the bottom of the unit.
LakeAir provides eye bolts with the units so they may be hung by chains from supporting
beams on the ceiling. If you choose the optional wall mount for the LA2-RC2 see the
instruction sheet included with the Model 10009 Wall Mount. To mount using the included
eye bolts, follow the instructions below. The unit may be hung so the air flow is from the left
to the right, or from the right to the left depending on the needs of the customer.

Operation
Plug the line cord into a standard household outlet with 120V AC 60 Hz. Caution
should be taken to operate the unit with the required voltage, as to do otherwise
may damage the unit and void the warranty.
The unit starts in turbo speed. As you rotate the knob clockwise the unit’s blower
speed will slow. To turn off: Turn counter clockwise until you hear a click. Note:
blower normally takes 5-10 seconds to start rotating. Most times you will not need
to run the LA2-RC2-Kitchen in turbo mode. There is sufficient volume of air
purification to run the unit at a slower speed with little noise and still clean the room
air sufficiently.
1. Choose an area which compliments the rest of the
air flow in the room before you mount the air
cleaner.
2. Make sure you have correct lengths of chain, and
that it is capable of sustaining the weight of the unit.
Standard hardware item, link chain with a working
load of at least 100 lbs. Also make sure you have
mounting lag screws or equivalent fasteners to at-
tach the chain to the ceiling beams or studs. In
some instances, it may be necessary to construct a
mounting frame to properly suspend the unit.
3. Locate the ceiling studs or beams and attach the
correctly sized chain. Chain length should be such
that it will not allow the LA2-RC2 to have a floor to
bottom height which would pose a hazard to room
occupants. LakeAir recommends a minimum height
of eight feet from floor to bottom when chain hung.

do so may lead to poor unit performance and voiding of the product warranty. The Blowers in
this unit depend on air flow to keep the cool. Insufficient air flow may cause the motor
bearings to over heat and fail. The Blowers are rated for 60,000 hours of normal use. Proper

Filter Removal and Installation
The pre filter is the first of 3 filters used in the LA2-RC2-Kitchen. The pre filter removes
large particles from the air stream. It also extends the life of the main filter. The pre
filters rating is MERV 2 and its Part# is 490051. The pre filter is mounted closest to the air
in take. This filter slides out
The grease filter is next in line moving back from the intake towards the blowers. This filter
uses baffles to trap grease that is suspended in the air. This filter is held in snugly but will
slide out as well. This filter should be checked regularly for grease build up.
The 3rd filter in the air purification line is the electrostatic cell. This filter is held in by a
screw that helps provide a ground for the filter and help it run efficiently. Remove the
screw using a Philips screwdiver. Always replace the screw after washing this filter.
The final filter is a Ultra 3.0 carbon filter, This filter removes kitchen odors and gasses.
Carbon can hold a finite amount of odor and after it has absorbed all it can it must be
replaced, This will depend on the amount of odor in your kitchen. When the filter has
stopped absorbing odors it must be thrown away and replaced. You cannot was a
