in materials and workmanship. Full terms, conditions and duration can be found at

nor damage caused by accident or abuse. If a claim is submitted under warranty, Latchways
will either repair, replace or refund the ManSafe SRL at Latchways’ discretion. Warranty

The User shall read and understand these user instructions before use and shall
follow the user instructions when using the equipment. These instructions and
corresponding inspection records shall be retained for future reference and should
be used as part of an employee training programme.
It is essential for the safety of the User that if the ManSafe SRL is resold outside
the original country of destination, the reseller shall provide instructions for use,
maintenance, periodic examination and repair in the language of the country in
which the device will be used.

use* and retained. ManSafe Retrieval SRL shall only be examined by Technicians.
Periodic examinations are an important element for maintaining product safety and shall be
completed in accordance with Latchways instructions. ManSafe SRLs scheduled for examination
shall be withdrawn from service and tagged “do not use”. Periodic examination instructions may
be downloaded from www.latchways.com. Technicians may repair ManSafe SRLs in accordance

ATEX The ManSafe SRL is suitable for use in areas in which explosive
atmospheres caused by mixtures of air and gases, vapours or
mists or by air/dusts mixtures are likely to occur, as per
BS EN 13463-1:2001 equipment group II, category 2.

If required, cable ManSafe SRLs can be supplied with a
secondary tether line facility—for more details contact Latchways
Contact Latchways if there are any concerns regarding the use, maintenance, applications or
operation of this device.
Intended purpose: The ManSafe SRL, in accordance with EN/GB standards, is intended
to be used as a connecting element within a personal fall arrest system. It must be used
vertically in situations where user mobility is required and fall protection is needed. The Mini
SRL is a personal issue item. The ManSafe Retrieval SRL is intended to be used where an
integral means of retrieving a casualty is required in the case of a fall, e.g. in conned space
environments.
Product limitations: The ManSafe SRL shall only be used within it’s limitations and for the
purpose for which it is intended. No attempt shall be made to modify or repair the equipment.
All instructions shall be followed to ensure the safety of the User. Authorised repairs are to be
conducted by a Technician.
1. ManSafe SRLs are for a single user only, only one person can be connected at any time.
2. ManSafe SRLs must be protected from re, acids, caustic solutions, welding ames, sparks
or similar.
3. ManSafe SRLs shall not be used if there is any risk of the device contacting high voltage
power lines. This warning also applies to webbing-type devices, as moisture can be
absorbed by the lifeline providing a path for electrical current.
4. ManSafe SRLs shall only be used within a cage when a risk assesment has considered
the risk of striking the cage during a fall.
5. ManSafe SRL’s retrieval function (where present) is intended for use in lifting a single
casualty in an emergency (e.g. following a fall). It must not be used for lifting material or
equipment, lifting multiple users or for man-riding purposes.
Personnel requirements: The ManSafe SRL shall only be used by a person who is trained and
competent in its safe use. Fitness and age signicantly affect a person’s ability to safely withstand
fall arrest loads. Only people who are physically and mentally t and healthy, not under the inuence
of drugs or alcohol, are suitable to use this equipment. Medical advice should be sought if a User’s
suitability is unclear. The ManSafe SRL shall not be used by pregnant women or minors.
Note:The Anchor point position shall consider any risks posed by moving machinery and
pendulum falls. To ensure positive locking of the ManSafe SRL a clear, unobstructed fall
path is necessary. Do not use the ManSafe SRL when working on materials such as sand or
grain, as insufcient fall speed may prevent lock in the event of a fall. It is essential to verify
the free space required beneath the User before each use, so that, in the event of a fall there
will be no collision with the ground or other obstacle. A minimum of 3 m (10 ft) (including a
safety factor of 1 m) from the working level to the nearest obstruction, lower level or ground
underneath a hazard should be maintained.
WARNING! Incompatible components can lead to connectors accidentally disengaging.
The User shall ensure all connectors are correctly engaged and locked.
1. Connectors shall conform to EN 362:2004 and be self-closing and self-locking.
2. A full body harness conforming to EN 361:2002 shall be worn when using the ManSafe
SRL.
3. An emergency written rescue plan shall be in place, to be implemented in the event of a fall.
Cleaning, storage and transportation: Clean the ManSafe SRL exterior, lifeline and labels
(to maintain legibility) with warm water (max. 40ºC/100°F) and non-biological detergent then
rinse. An excessive build-up of dirt or paint etc. on the lifeline may compromise the retraction.
If the ManSafe SRL becomes wet, either from being in use or from cleaning, position the
ManSafe SRL such that any excess water can drain and leave to dry naturally away from
direct heat. The full body harness and any other system components shall be cleaned and
stored according to manufacturer’s instructions. Store the ManSafe SRL in a cool, dry, clean
environment, away from direct sunlight. Examine the ManSafe SRL after long periods of
storage prior to returning it to service. During transportation the device shall be protected to
prevent damage or contamination.
Alterations and additions: No alterations or additions are permitted without Latchways’
prior written consent.
When not in use: Do not allow the lifeline to be fully extracted for long periods of time as this
Anchor point requirements:
EN The anchor point shall be able to sustain a minimum load of 12 kN
(2700 lbs). Refer to EN 795:2012 or CEN/TS 16415:2013.
Note: If multiple fall arrest systems are attached to the same anchor point the strength
requirement shall be multiplied by the number of personal fall arrest systems.
System requirements: A fall arrest system comprises of a structural anchor point, full body
harness, connector (karabiner/snap hook) and SRL. All elements in the system shall be used
only as specied by the elements manufacturer. It is essential for safety that the anchor device
and anchor point shall always be positioned, and work carried out in such a way, to minimise
both the potential for a fall and potential fall distance.

Note: If a problem is identied, the ManSafe SRL shall be immediately withdrawn from use
and cannot be returned to use until examined and recertied by a Technician. Examination,
repair and recertication instructions are detailed in a separate document.
ManSafe SRL Pre-use checks
Latchways ManSafe SRLs are designed to be easy to operate and maintain, requiring
minimal maintenance and simple pre-use checks. For further information contact

Operation and use: Attach the ManSafe SRL overhead to an anchor point then complete the
Pre-use checks.
Pre-use check by the User:

may cause weakening of the retraction spring. Do not let go of the lifeline as it will retract at
high speed potentially damaging internal parts, causing kinks in the lifeline and/or deploying
the load indicating eyelets/snap hooks. If the ManSafe SRL is positioned high above the
Users head, the use of a tag line is acceptable to allow the ManSafe SRL to fully retract and
yet enable retrieval of the connector. It is recommended for tag lines to be removed from the
device before use.
Do not use an additional lanyard or similar component to lengthen the lifeline.
Do not allow the lifeline to pass through legs or under arms.
Do not use this product for ground level attachments or cable systems.
Do not use over an edge.
Do not allow the lifeline to be in contact with or rub against sharp edges.
Do not allow the lifeline to come into contact with moving machinery.
Webbing lifelines and UV rays: The lifeline may deteriorate when subjected to prolonged
periods outside. UV rays can cause the colour of the lifeline to fade and may reduce its
strength. If severe discolouration is visible, the lifeline shall be replaced by a Technician. The
service life of a ManSafe SRL webbing has been evaluated to be up to 10 years. The following
factors such as (but not limited to): environmental conditions (e.g. contact with chemicals,
exposure to temperatures >54°C (>130°F)), incorrect storage and frequency of use may reduce
service life. If the webbing fails examination, it must be replaced by a Technician.
Environmental conditions may affect life expectancy of a galvanised cable.
The service life of a ManSafe SRL cable has been evaluated to be up to 15 years.
Glossary of key terms
User: A person that has been trained and is competent in the safe use and operation of the
Latchways ManSafe SRL, including the pre-use checks.
Competent person: A person, other than the User, who is competent in the examination of
SRLs, in accordance with Latchways’ instructions.
Technician: A person, other than the User, who is trained by Latchways to examine, repair and
recertify ManSafe SRLs, in accordance with Latchways’ instructions.
Repair: Replacement of damaged or worn parts by a Technician in accordance with
Latchways’ instructions.
Periodic examination: Examination completed by a Competent person or Technician at least
every 12 months. Local legislation, frequency of use, or environmental conditions (corrosive or
chemical environments) may dictate more frequent examination intervals.

设 计 用 途：根据 EN/GB 标准，ManSafe 速差自控器 产品设计作为个人止坠系统中的一种
连接部件。在用户需要移动并且必须采取坠落防护时，该产品必须在垂直方向使用。小型
速差自控器 是一种个人防护用品。ManSafe 救援 速差自控器 专门用于在狭小空间发生坠
落时采用综合救援方法的情况。
产品使用限制：ManSafe 速差自控器 产品仅应在其使用限制范围内使用，并且仅应用
于设计用途。不应尝试改制或修理本产品。应遵循所有指南，以便确保用户安全。由技
师执行授权维修。
1. ManSafe 速差自控器 产品仅供一名用户使用，任何时候都只能连接一名用户。
2. ManSafe 速差自控器 产品不得接触到火焰、酸、腐蚀性溶液、焊接产生的火焰、火
星或类似物。
3. 如产品有可能碰触到高压电线，不应使用 ManSafe 速差自控器 产品。本警示也适用

置以及工作方式应始终最大限度地减小坠落的可能性和潜在坠落距离，这对于安全至关
重要。
锚 固 点 要 求：
EN 锚固点应能承受 12 kN 的最小载荷。参阅 EN 795:2012 或 CEN/TS
16415:2013。
注：如果多个止坠系统连接到同一锚固点，其强度要求应乘以个人止坠系统的个数。
注：锚固点位置的选取应考虑移动的设备和摇摆式坠落造成的所有风险。为了确保
ManSafe 速差自控器 产品主动闭锁，必须提供一条畅通的、无任何障碍的坠落路线。在
诸如砂粒或谷物等物料上作业时，切勿使用 ManSafe 速差自控器 产品，否则在坠落发生
时，坠落速度不够大可能妨碍产品闭锁。每次使用前必须核实用户下方有无障碍空间，这
样，在发生坠落时，将不会发生用户和地面或其它障碍物碰撞。作业平面与距离最近的障
碍物、较低平面或地面在危险物下方应至少保持 3 m（包括安全系数 1）的距离。
警告！使用不匹配的组件可导致连接器意外脱开。用户应确保所有连接器合上并闭锁。
1. 连接器应符合 EN 362:2004、GB/T 23469-2009 和/或，而且应自动闭合并自动闭
锁。
2. 使用 ManSafe 速差自控器 产品时，用户应穿戴符合 EN 361:2002、GB 6095-2009

清 洁 、存 放 和 运 输 ： 使用温水（最高 40ºC）和非生物清洁剂清洗 ManSafe 速差自控器 产
品外表、生命线和标签（以便保持清晰可辨识），然后再冲洗。生命线上积尘过厚或者有
油漆等物可能影响到其收缩性能。如果 ManSafe 速差自控器 产品在使用中或者由于清
洗而变湿，将 ManSafe 速差自控器 产品放置好，以便过多的水可以排出，然后让其自然
凉干，避免直接烘烤。应按照厂商说明，清洁和存放全身式安全带及系统中的所有其它组
件。将 ManSafe 速差自控器 产品存放在凉爽、干燥、洁净的场所，避免阳光直接照射。长
时间存放后，先检查 ManSafe 速差自控器 产品，然后再投入使用。运输过程，应对本产
品 加 以 保 护，防 止 损 坏 或 受 污 。
改制或加装：未经 Latchways 公司事先书面许可，不得对本产品进行任何改制或加装。

Latchways ManSafe 速差自控器 产品操作简单，便于保养维护，只需进行最少的保养和简

操 作 与 使 用：将 ManSafe 速差自控器 产品连接到头顶上方的一处锚固点* ，然后进行使用前
检查。
用户进行的使用前检查：
1轻轻拉动生命线 — 听听有没有喀嗒声
发出。
2猛力拉生命线 — 检查装备的闭锁情况。

检查工作是否正常。
检查有无损坏/性能下降的迹象。

切勿让生命线接触移动中的设备。
织 带 式 生 命 线 与 紫 外 线：若长期在户外使用，生命线的性能可能会下降。紫外线可导致生命线
褪色，而且有可能降低其强度。若注意到严重褪色，应由技师更换生命线。ManSafe 速差自控
器 织带的使用寿命预计最长可达 10 年。下列因素可能会减损其使用寿命：包括（但不限于）环
境条件（例如与化学品接触、在温度 >54°C 时使用）、存放不当以及频繁使用。若织带未通过检
查，则必须由技师更换。
环境条件可能影响镀锌钢丝绳的使用寿命。
ManSafe 速差自控器 缆线的使用寿命预计最长可达 15 年。
