1.0 Introduction
1.1 Overview of the CM2001
The Legrand CM2001 Video Door Internet Enabling Kit (see Figure 1), when used with the Legrand
Selective Call Intercom system, provides local or remote network access to images from the SCI Video
Door Unit camera. These images (still or compressed video) may be recorded and/or sent via email to a
remote user. The trigger to start recording can be configured as a simple doorbell button push on the SCI
VDU.

2.0 Physical Installation
2.1 Overview
The CM2001 may be physically installed in two different ways. There are keyhole slots on the rear of the
case which may be used for mounting to a flat surface with screws. The other more typical way is to
attach the CM2001 to an AC1025 bracket with two machine screws (all available separately), for
mounting in an On-Q style enclosure. This method provides easy access to the hardware interface areas
on each end (see Figure 3).

2.2 Installation Drawing (see Figure 4)
Regardless of the mounting method, once mounted, connect the supplied cable from the RCA video
output jack on the lower right corner of the SCI Module to the BNC video input jack on the CM2001. If you
want a doorbell button press on the SCI Video Door Unit to trigger an event, like recording images, or
sending an email alert, then also connect the supplied two-wire 22 gauge jumper from pin #2 on the
CM2001 to the B+ connection on the rear of the SCI Module and pin #3 on the CM2001 to the B-
connection on the rear of the SCI Module. Also connect a Cat 5e jumper from the RJ45 jack on the
CM2001 to an open port on your router, or router attached Gigabit Switch. Once all the interface
connections are made, you can connect the supplied power supply to the CM2001 and plug it into an
available AC outlet.

3.0 PC/Web Configuration
The video images from the SCI Video Door Unit are available on a PC (or web enabled device such as a
Smartphone) connected to the same subnetwork as the CM2001. This works best on a PC with UPnP
enabled (Windows XP or newer) and may require you to “turn UPnP on” from the Network Control screen
on the PC. This will enable you to see an icon on your Network screen labeled CM2001-xxx (the xxx are
the last three digits of this CM2001’s MAC address).
NOTE: The CM2001 is set for DHCP by default, meaning that it will look for and receive its IP
address from the router to which it is attached. If you power it on without a network connection, it
will use a default IP address of 192.168.0.20, and if your PC is on another IP subnet, it may not see
the CM2001 or show its icon on your Network device screen. However, if you simply plug a Cat 5e
jumper between the CM2001 and the router to which your PC is attached, the CM2001 will use the
IP address provided by the router. You may have to refresh your PC Network device screen to see
the CM2001 icon.
Once you see the CM2001-xxx icon (see Figure 5), double click it.
NOTE: If you are connecting with a Smartphone you will need to type in the IP address of the
CM2001 (ie. http//192.168.40.3). If you don’t know what the CM2001’s address is, you may need to
logon to the router and look at its client list.
If this is the first time you are accessing the CM2001, you will get a pop up screen asking for the
user name and password –type in “admin” and “admin”. You can bookmark this action once
logged on to avoid this step in the future. You may also get a request to “Run” ActiveX control,
and you should do so.

If you are using a PC, you now should see the SCI Video Door Unit image with a control section to the left
(see Figure 6).
If you are using a Smartphone, you’ll see the SCI Video Door Unit image with icons underneath (see
Figure 7). In either case, making the “Setting” selection (circled in red) will take you to the screen shown
in Figure 8. On the smart phone, pressing the “Original Web” button will take you to a screen as shown in
Figure 6 above.

The “Setting” selection takes you to the configuration area, where you can configure specific settings for
each of the items shown on the left of the screen (Network, Camera, System, etc.). When you select one
of those items (Network is shown selected), you are shown a screen with one or more selections across
the top. For each of these, you are able to make changes and then click on OK at the bottom of the
screen to make your new changes active.
Notice that to return to the main screen that shows the camera image, after making configuration
changes, just click on Live View on the upper left of the screen.
The following section goes into detail for each of the possible “Setting” selections.

4.0 Configuration & Operation
4.1. Network Configuration
4.1.1 Network
This screen provides access to the parameters used for making a network connection.
MAC address
Displays the MAC address of the device. Note that user cannot
change it.
Obtain an IP address
automatically (DHCP)
Check this box when a DHCP server is installed on the network to
issue IP addresses. With this setting, the IP address is assigned
automatically. If the CM2001 cannot get an IP address within limited
tries, it will be assigned a default IP address of 192.168.0.20.
If you do not check “Obtain an IP address automatically”, then you
need to enter the network parameters manually.
IP Address
This address is a unique number that identifies a computer or device
on the WAN or LAN. These numbers are usually shown in groups
separated by periods, for example: 192.168.0.200

Subnet Mask
Subnets allow network traffic between hosts to be separated based on
the network's configuration. In IP networking, traffic takes the form of
packets. IP subnets advance network security and performance to
some level by organizing hosts into logical groups. Subnet masks
contain four bytes and usually appear in the same "dotted decimal"
format as the IP Address. For example, a very common subnet mask
in its binary form is 11111111 . 11111111 . 11111111 . 00000000, and
is usually shown in its more readable form as 255.255.255.0.
Gateway
A gateway is a piece of software or hardware that passes information
between networks, such as a router. You'll see this term most often
when you either log onto an Internet site or when you send email
between different servers.
Obtain DNS from
DHCP
Check this box when the DHCP server is installed on the network and
provides DNS service.
Primary DNS
When you send email or point a browser at an Internet domain such
as xxxxx.com, the domain name system translates the name into an IP
address. The term refers to two things: the conventions for naming
hosts and the way the names are control across the Internet.
Secondary DNS
The same function as Primary DNS, but not normally required for a
home network.
HTTP Port
The CM2001 supports two HTTP ports. The first one is default port 80
and this port is fixed. Port 80 is very useful for Intranet usage. The
second HTTP port is configurable. Local users could assign the
second port number, and any WAN users would need to add that port
number to the back of IP address to login. For example:
http://192.168.0.20:8080.
Therefore, the user can access the CM2001 by either
http://xx.xx.xx.xx/, or
http://xx.xx.xx.xx:xxxx/ .
If multiple devices are installed on the LAN and also required to be
accessed from the WAN, then the HTTP Port can be assigned as the
virtual server port mapping to support multiple devices.
NOTE
When Network configuration is finished, click “OK” to save and enable
the setting.

4.1.2. IPv6
Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is called the “IP Next Generation” (IPng), which is designed to fix the
shortcomings of IPv4, such as data security and maximum number of user addresses. It is backward
compatible and thus expected to slowly replace IPv4, with the two existing side by side for many years.

Click on enable or disable (the default) and OK if a change was made.

4.1.3. HTTPS
HTTPS: Stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure and is a combination of the Hypertext Transfer
Protocol with the SSL/TLS protocol to provide encrypted communication and secure identification of a
network web servers. HTTPS connections are often used for sensitive transactions in corporate
information systems. The main idea of HTTPS is to create a secure channel over an insecure network.
This ensures reasonable protection from eavesdroppers and man-in-the-middle attacks, provided that
adequate cipher suites are used and that the server certificate is verified and trusted.
HTTPS
Check enable or disable. Note that the HTTPS function of the CM2001
is not only encrypted for the web content but also audio/video data.
Port
Choose the HTTPS port. The default value is 443.
4.1.4. DDNS Server
Stands for Dynamic Domain Name Server
The CM2001 supports DDNS, and if your device is connected to xDSL directly, you might need this
feature. However, if your device is behind a NAT router, you will not need to enable this feature. DDNS
allows the CM2001 to remember names rather than an IP addresses. The name of the domain is like the
name of a person, and the IP address is like his phone number. On the Internet we have IP numbers for
each host (computer, server, router, and so on), and we replace these IP numbers with more easily
remembered domain names. In an xDSL environment, most of the users will use dynamic IP addresses. If
users want to set up a web or a FTP server, then the Dynamic Domain Name Server is necessary. For
more DDNS configuration, please consult your dealer.

Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) will provide you at least one IP address which you can use to
connect to the Internet. The address you get may be static, meaning it never changes, or dynamic,
meaning it’s likely to change periodically. Just how often it changes, depends on your ISP. A dynamic IP
address complicates remote access since you may not know what your current WAN IP address is when
you want to access your network over the Internet. The solution to the dynamic IP address problem
comes in the form of a dynamic DNS service.
The Internet uses DNS servers to lookup domain names and translates them into IP addresses. Domain
names are just easy to remember aliases for IP addresses. A dynamic DNS service is unique because it
provides a means of updating your IP address so that your listing will remain current when your IP
address changes. There are several excellent DDNS services available on the Internet and best of all
they’re free to use. One such service you can use is www.DynDNS.org. You’ll need to register with the
service and set up the domain name of your choice to begin using it. Please refer to the home page of the
service for detailed instructions.
DDNS:
Check to enable or disable the DDNS service.
Server name:
Choose the DDNS service provider (like dyndns.org).
DDNS Host:
The domain name that was assigned by dyndns.org for this CM2001.
User Name:
The user name used to log into the DDNS account.
Password:
The password used to log into the DDNS account.

4.1.5. PPPoE
PPPoE: Stands for Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet
A standard built on Ethernet using a Point-to-Point network protocol, PPPoE allows IP cameras to
connect to the Internet over xDSL or cable service. The protocol dials up your ISP and gets a dynamic IP
address. For more PPPoE and Internet configuration, please consult your ISP.
It can directly connect to the xDSL service, however, it should be setup first in a LAN environment to
configure the PPPoE information, and then connected to the xDSL modem.
The procedures are
• Connect to a LAN via DHCP or Fixed IP
• Access the CM2001, enter Setting Network PPPoE as shown below
PPPoE:
Check to enable or disable the PPPoE service.
User Name:
Type the user name for the PPPoE service provided by the ISP.
Password:
Type the password for the PPPoE service provided by the ISP.
IP Address / Subnet
Mask / Gateway:
Shows the IP information obtained from PPPoE server site.
Status:
Shows the Status of PPPoE connection.

4.1.6. Streaming
RTSP is a Real Time Streaming control Protocol, and a starting point for negotiating transports such as
RTP, multicast and Unicast, and for negotiating codecs. RTSP can be considered a "remote control" for
controlling the media stream delivered by a media server. RTSP servers typically use RTP as the protocol
for the actual transport of audio/video data.
RTSP Port:
Enter the RTSP port. The RTSP protocol allows a connecting client to
start a video stream. The default value is 554.
RTP Port:
Specify the range of transmission port numbers of the video stream. The
default range is 50000 to 50999. Users can specify a number between
1024 and 65535.
NOTE:
1. To use the 3GPP function, you will need more information or
configuration to make this function work.
2. The CM2001 must be set in Multi-profile mode, not Mega-pixel mode.
Otherwise this device cannot support a 3GPP stream.
3. To use the 3GPP function, it is strongly recommended to install the
Networked Device with a public and fixed IP address without any
firewall protection.
4. Port 554 is the default for RTSP service. However, sometimes service
providers change this port number for some reason. If so, the user
needs to change this port number accordingly.

4.1.7. UPnP
UPnP is short for Universal Plug and Play, which is a networking architecture that provides compatibility
among networking equipment, software, and peripherals. The CM2001 is a UPnP enabled Network Video
Server. If your operating system is UPnP enabled, the CM2001 will automatically be detected and a new
icon will be added to “My Network Places.” If you do not want to use the UPnP functionality, it can be
disabled
In addition, the CM2001 also provides UPnP IGD function for easy NAT traversal. Use NAT traversal
when your CM2001 is located on an intranet (LAN) and you wish to make it available from the other
(WAN) side of a NAT router. With NAT traversal properly configured, all HTTP traffic to an external HTTP
port in the NAT router will be forwarded to the CM2001.
UPnP:
Check to enable or disable the UPnP service.
Friendly Name:
Shows the UPnP friendly name of the CM2001.
UPnP NAT Traversal:
When enabled, the CM2001 will attempt to configure port mapping
in an NAT router on your network, using UPnP™. Note that
UPnP™ must be enabled in the NAT router first.
Port Range:
The port range open in the NAT router.
External IP address:
Shows the IP address and port for WAN access through Internet.
If NAT traversal is configured successfully, the user can use this
IP address and port to access the CM2001.

4.1.8. Bonjour
Bonjour service allows IP cameras to be discovered via the Apple Safari browser, once the option is
enabled, the IP camera will show the Friendly Name in the Bonjour bookmarks menu of the Safari
browser.
Bonjour
Check to enable or disable the Bonjour service.
Friendly Name
Shows the friendly name of this CM2001. Note that with the
Bonjour service, the entire MAC address is shown, rather than the
last three digits.

4.1.9. IP Filter
You can enter different user’s IP addresses and designate which ones to allow or deny access to the
CM2001.
IP Filter:
Check to enable or disable the IP filter function.
IP Filter Policy:
Choose the filter policy for creating a list of IP addresses to allow or
deny access to the CM2001.
