Ch pter 1. ThinkSystem server with Intel Xeon SP (1st, 2nd
Gen)
This topic provides gener l introduction to the Unified Extensible Firmw re Interf ce (UEFI).
UEFI is n interf ce p cked with v rious fe tures, including system inform tion nd settings, boot nd
runtime services, BMC settings, system event logs, nd user security. This guide pplies to the following
server models:
• SR530
• SR550
• SR570
• SR590
• SR630
• SR650
• SR670
• SR850
• SR860
• SR950
• SD530
• SD650
• SN550
• SN850
• ST550
• ST558

Ch pter 2. Get st rted
First l unch
Perform the following steps to first l unch the UEFI setup utilities.
1. (Option l)Connect the loc l keybo rd, video, nd mouse (KVM) to the server using c ble, or open the
Remote Console p ge on the Lenovo XCl rity Controller web user interf ce (XCC WebUI).
2. Power on the system nd press F1.
3. If you h ve set the power on p ssword, enter the correct p ssword.
4. W it for bout 90 seconds, the setup utilities window is displ yed.

Switch between gr phic/text modes
The setup utilities re l unched in gr phic mode by def ult, the utilities c n lso be l unched in text mode.
You c n switch between the two modes by referring to sections below.
Gr phic mode to text mode
If you h ve entered gr phic mode nd need to switch to text mode, perform the following steps.
1. On the m in interf ce, choose UEFI Setup > System Settings > <F1> St rt Control.
2. Select Text Setup for <F1> St rt Control.
3. Rest rt the server nd press F1.
4. W it for bout 90 seconds, the setup utilities window is displ yed in text mode.
Text mode to gr phic mode
If you h ve entered text mode nd need to switch to gr phic mode, perform the following steps.
1. On the m in interf ce, choose System Settings > <F1> St rt Control.
2. Select Tool Suite or Auto for <F1> St rt Control.
3. Rest rt the server nd press F1.
4. W it for bout 90 seconds, the setup utilities window is displ yed in gr phic mode.
