FREILANDTAUGLICHKEIT
Sehr geehrte Kunden, immer wieder errei-
chen uns Anfragen bezüglich „rostender
Schrauben“ bei Komponenten, die im
Außenbereich der alljährlichen Witterung
ausgesetzt sind. Zweckgemäß führen
Schraubklemmen und Schrauben eine
elektrische Spannung. In Verbindung mit
Feuchtigkeit aus Luft und Boden ndet bei
Anliegen einer Spannung eine elektroche-
mische Reaktion statt, die physikalischen
Gesetzen unterliegt. Das Auftreten von
sogenanntem Flugrost ist das Resultat und
nicht zu verhindern. Es behindert die Funk-
tion nicht. Sind die Komponenten Wasser
ausgesetzt, beschleunigt dies die Reaktion
deutlich. Wasser muss ungehindert abie-
ßen können. Steht die Elektronik im Was-
ser kann trotz vergossener Elektronik das
Wasser durch die Schraubklemmen ins
innere der Elektronik vordringen und damit
zum Totalausfall führen. Wir möchten Sie
darauf hinweisen, dass die Komponenten
so zu installieren sind, dass sie keiner
andauernden Feuchtigkeit ausgesetzt sind.

SUITABILITY FOR OUTDOOR USE
Dear customer, we have received a
number of enquiries about rusty screws
in components that are used outside and
exposed to the elements. In this regard,
it is important to note that screws and
screw terminals are designed to be able to
carry an electrical current. When they are
exposed to moisture from the air and the
ground, an electrochemical reaction takes
place whenever a difference in electrical
potential is present. This leads to the
formation of a rust lm, which is a natural
physical process that cannot be prevented.
This rust lm does not interfere with
the proper functioning of the compo-
nent. When components are exposed to
water, the electromechanical reaction is
accelerated considerably. For this reason,
It is important to ensure that water
ows away freely from the components.
Water can seep into components through
screw terminals and soak the enclosed
electronics including those that are potted;
water seepage may lead to total equipment
failure. We would like to point out that
components should be installed in such a
way that they are not exposed to persistent
moisture. Total equipment failure due to
water damage is not covered under the
warranty.

1. Einleitende Information
Der Automatische Entkuppler ent-
kuppelt einen angehängten Zug per
Knopfdruck. Es handelt es sich um
ein hochwertiges, aber gleichzeitig
anspruchsvolles Produkt. Aus die-
sem Grund lesen Sie diese Anleitung
bitte durch und beachten Sie insbe-
sondere die Hinweise zur Montage
und Inbetriebnahme. Dieses Produkt
ist kein Spielzeug!
1.1Lieferumfang

installing or using this product.
1. General Information
The Automatic Uncoupler disen-
gages the trailing train simply by
pressing a button. This is a high
quality and sophisticated product. It
is absolutely recommended to read
this manual before unpacking, in-
stalling and operating the Uncoupler.
This product ist not a toy!

2. Wichtige Informationen
zur Inbetriebname
Der Entkuppler wird aus Gründen
der Transportsicherheit komplett
montiert ausgeliefert. Für die Monta-
ge wird die Antriebseinheit des Ent-
kupplers (mit 2 Schrauben befestigt)
demontiert. Hierbei ist besonders zu
beachten, dass die Mechanikeinheit
des Entkupplers mit der Gummitülle
xiert ist (ist im Auslieferungszu-
stand um die Entkupplungsbügel
geschoben). Diese darf erst entfernt
werden, wenn der Entkuppler kom-
plett montiert ist. Ohne Gummitülle
besteht Gefahr, dass die Mechani-
keinheit außeinander rutscht und
Kleinteile verloren gehen.
3. Inbetriebnahme des Entkupplers
Bitte halten Sie bei der Inbetriebnah-
me die folgenden Schritte ein:
3.1Vorbereitung zur Montage
• Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Gum-
mitülle um die Entkupplungsbügel
xiert ist.
• Entfernen Sie die zwei Schrauben
aus der Antriebseinheit (Schritt 1).
• Ziehen Sie die Antriebseinheit nach
unten ab (Schritt 2).
• Das Befestigungsloch für den
Entkuppler bendet sich in der
Mechanikeinheit (Schritt 3).
2. Important information
For transport safety reasons the
Uncoupler comes fully assem-
bled. To install the Uncoupler it is
necessary to dismantle (2 screws)
into a mechanical unit and a drive
unit. It is very important to make
sure that the mechanical unit is xed
with the rubber sleeve (comes xed
at purchase). This rubber sleeve
should not be removed until the
Uncoupler is completely installed to
the locomotive. If the rubber sleeve
is not xed to the mechanical unit it
may fall apart and small parts may
get lost.
3. Getting started
To get started please follow the
steps as listed below:
3.1Preparation for installation
• Make sure that the rubber sleeve is
xed to the uncoupling frame.
• Remove the two screws on top of
the drive unit (Step 1)
• Pull off the drive unit (Step 2)
• The mounting hole of the Uncoupler
is located in the mechanical unit
(Step 3)

3.2Montage
• Der Entkuppler verfügt über die
standardisierte Kupplungsaufnahme,
wie sie bei Groß- und Gartenbahnen
(LGB®, etc.) üblich ist. Befestigen
Sie zuerst die Mechanikeinheit mit
der beiliegenden großen Schraube
an der Kupplungsaufnahme der
gewünschten Lok (Schritt 4).
• Montieren Sie die Antriebseinheit
vorsichtig an der Mechanikeinheit
des Entkupplers. Achten Sie dabei
bitte darauf, dass die Vierkantmutter
der Antriebseinheit sauber in die
dafür vorgesehene Führung in der
Mechanikeinheit rutscht (Schritt 5).
• Schrauben Sie anschließend die
Antriebseinheit mit den zwei kleinen
Schrauben fest (Schritt 6). Bitte
ziehen Sie die Schrauben dabei nicht
fest an. Es reicht aus, die Schrauben
nur ganz leicht anzuziehen. Werden
die Schrauben sehr fest angezogen,
kann sich dies nachteilig auswirken
und z.B. zu Blockieren oder Klem-
men führen. Die Gummitülle muss
nun entfernt werden!
• Wenn Sie den Entkuppler an eine
andere Lok montieren möchten (um-
montieren), stellen Sie sicher, dass
die Gummitülle um die Entkupp-
lungsbügel xiert ist. Sollten Sie die
Gummitülle nicht mehr haben, so -
xieren Sie die übereinanderliegenden
3.2Installation & Assembling
• The Uncoupler has the standard
coupler tting as it has become a
standard for G-Scale (LGB®, etc.).
First x the mechanical unit with the
supplied large screw on the coupling
appliance of the desired loco (Step
4).
• Attach the drive unit to the mechani-
cal unit carefully. Please make sure
that the square nut of the drive unit
slides neatly into the designated slot
in the mechanical unit (Step 5).
• Then use the two small screws to
tighten the drive unit to the mecha-
nical unit (Step 5). Do not tighten
the screws too tight. It is sufcient
to tighten the screws very lightly. If
the screws are tightend too rmly,
it may harm the operation and may
result in blocking or jamming of the
Uncoupler. Now the rubber sleeve
needs to be removed.
• If you decide to remount the
Uncoupler to another locomotive,
make sure that the rubber sleeve is
attached to the mechanical unit. In
case the rubber sleeve has been lost
we recommend you use a standard
rubber band or a piece of scotch
tape and attach it to the mechanical
unit. Make sure in any case that the
mechanical unit stays together while
the drive unit is not mounted. If the

Entkupplungsbügel bitte mit Hilfe
eines normalen Haushaltsgummis
oder einem Stück Klebeband. Achten
Sie in jedem Fall darauf, dass die Bü-
gel übereinanderliegen, während der
Antrieb nicht befestigt ist. Sollten
sich die Bügel verschieben, können
Kleinteile verloren gehen.
4. Anschluss des Entkupplers
Der Anschluss des Entkupplers kann
über den angebrachten Stecker oder
direkt über Anschlussklemmen des
Decoders erfolgen. Beim Verlegen
des Kabels ist darauf zu achten, dass
man das Kabel nicht einklemmt.
Folgende Anschlussmöglichkeiten
sind möglich:
4.1Anschluss mit Stecker
Bei einigen Decodern oder Schnitt-
stellenplatinen kann der Stecker des
Entkupplers (Abbildung 3) direkt in
eine dafür geeignete 3polige Buchse
gesteckt werden, diese sind z.B.:
• LGB®Onboard Decoder (groß)
• LGB®DCC Schnittstellenplatine
• MASSOTH Onboard Adapter
Beachten Sie hierbei immer die
Dokumentation der verwendeten
Decoder und Schnittstellenplatine.

4. Hook up
The Uncoupler is connected to the
decoder with the attached plug. If a
plug-in connection is not possible it
may be wired directly to the deco-
der. Please be careful when wiring
the cable. Do not jam the cable. The
following connections are possible:

face boards offer a direct plug-in
connection for the Uncoupler (see
illustration #3).

interface boards beeing used to
ensure proper operation.

4.2Anschluss ohne Stecker
Bei Decodern mit Klemm- oder
Lötanschluss schneiden Sie den
3poligen Stecker ab und schließen
das Kabel gemäß Abbildung 4 wie
folgt an:
•Schwarz: Decoder - (GND, Masse)
•Braun: FA, Schaltleitung (freier Open
Collector Funktionsausgang*)
•Rot: Decoder + (bis zu 200mA)
*Open Collector Ausgänge sind
(verstärkte) Funktionsausgänge mit
mindestens 50mA Belastbarkeit.
4.2Wiring the Uncoupler directly
Other decoders will require wiring
via clamps or soldering. Cut off the
plug attached to the cable and wire
the Uncoupler corresponding the
following details and illustration #4:
•Black: Decoder - (GND)
•Brown: FA, Switching line (free open
collector function output*)
•Red: Decoder + (up to 200mA)
*Open collector outputs are (am-
plied) function outputs that offer
50mA and more.

5. Inbetriebnahme
5.1Einstellungen
Programmieren Sie den ange-
schlossene Funktionsausgang
auf die gewünschte F-Taste. Der
entsprechende Funktionsausgang
darf nicht gedimmt werden! Die ent-
sprechenden Einstellungsparameter
entnehmen Sie bitte der Anleitung
Ihres Decoders.
5.2Betriebshinweise
• Durch betätigen der programmierten
Funktionstaste wird der Haken des
Entkupplers nach unten gefahren.
Durch nochmaliges betätigen der
Funktionstaste fährt der Entkuppler
wieder nach oben.
• Wenn Sie den DiMAX Navigator
benutzen empfehlen wir die entspre-
chende Funktionstaste auf dem Navi-
gator auf Momentbetrieb zu stellen
(siehe Navigatoranleitung). Dabei
wird der Entkuppler so lange nach
unten gefahren wie man die entspre-
chende Taste gedrückt hält. (Diese
Funktion ist Zentralenabhängig)
• Der Haken sollte sich nur zum
Abkuppeln unten benden. Beim
Überfahren von Weichen oder ande-
ren erhöhten Gegenständen im Gleis
kann der Entkuppler beschädigt
werden. Es ist daher darauf zu ach-

5.1Settings
Program the connected function
output to the preferred function key.
The function output must not be
dimmed. Check your decoders ma-
nual for the required setting values.
5.2Operating instructions
• By triggering the set function key
the Uncoupler will lower the hook.
By triggering the function key again
the hook will be pulled back to its
original position.
• If the DiMAX Navigator is used to
operate we recommend to program
the function key to a momentary
function (see manual of Navigator).
In this case the Uncouplers hook
will remain in the lowered position
as long as the function key is hold
down. (This function also depends
on the Central Station functionality)
• The hook should only be lowered
to uncouple the trailed train. In
case the locomotive crosses track
elements like switches/points or
contacts, etc. the Uncoupler can be
damaged. Therefor it is important
not to run the locomotive with a

besonders bei langen oder schweren
Zügen (Betriebssicherheit).
• Für optimale Betriebsergebnis muss
der Entkuppler auf gleicher Höhe
montiert sein, wie die verwendeten
Wagons.
• Im Winterbetrieb ist das Eindringen
von Schnee und Eis zu verhindern.
• Der Entkuppler ist begrenzt auf
maximal 5 Kuppelvorgänge je 30
Sekunden.
• Sollte sich der Entkupplungshaken
durch eine Stromunterbrechung
oder mechanische Blockade nicht in
der Ausgangsposition benden, so
wird dieser 2-4 Kalibrierbewegungen
brauchen um sich wieder in die
Normalstellung zurückzubewegen.
• Sorgen Sie für eine sichere und sta-
bile Stromversorgung des Entkupp-
lers. Bei starken Schwankungen der
Versorgungsspannung kann es zu
Fehlauslösungen kommen. Eventuell
muss die Spannung des Dekoders
zusätzlich gepuffert werden.

in a stationary position without load
on the Uncoupler. Always position
the locomotive and cars in a way
that the Uncoupler can operate
freely.
• We suggest to use the Uncoupler
with a double-sided coupling in
order to pull long or heavy trains!
(operational safety)
• For best operating result the Un-
coupler needs to be mounted in the
same height as the coupler of the
trailed train.
• The entry of snow and ice has to be
prevented if operated in winter.
• The Uncoupler is limited to a maxi-
mum of 5 coupling procedures per
30 seconds.
• If the hook will not move back to
its original position which may be
caused by a power loss or mechani-
cal blockage the Uncoupler will take
2 to 4 calibrating moves to nd its
way back to the original position.
• Provide a safe and reliable power
supply to the Uncoupler. Fluctua-
tions in the supply voltage can cause
false operation. If necessary, the
power supply of the decoder needs
additional buffering.

7.1Garantie, Reparatur, Kundendienst
MASSOTH gewährt die Fehlerfreiheit
dieses Produkts für ein Jahr. Die
gesetzlichen Regelungen können in
einzelnen Ländern abweichen. Ver-
schleißteile sind von der Garantielei-
stung ausgeschlossen. Berechtigte
Beanstandungen werden kostenlos
behoben. Für Reparatur- oder
Serviceleistungen übergeben Sie

against defects in materials and
workmanship for one year from
the original date of purchase. Other
countries may have different legal
warranty situations. Normal wear
and tear, consumer modications as
well as improper use or installation
are not covered. Peripheral compo-
nent damage is not covered by this
warranty. Valid warranty claims will
be serviced without charge within
the warranty period. For warranty
service please return the product
to you dealer or send it directly to
the manufacturer. Return shipping
charges are not covered by MAS-
SOTH. Please include your proof of
purchase with the returned goods.
