Introduction
Welcome! Thank you for choosing the Matrix SPARSH VP710! You have now entered the exciting world of Internet
Telephony. We hope you will make optimum use of this intelligent, feature-packed SIP-based IP phone. Please
read this document carefully before installing and using the SPARSH VP710.
About this User Guide
This User Guide provides detailed information and instructions to install and operate Matrix SPARSH VP710.

Intended Audience
This document is aimed at,
•System Engineers and System Administrators, who will install, maintain and support SPARSH VP710.
It is assumed that they have some experience in installing SIP phones, they are familiar with the VoIP
technology and its functions, and they have basic knowledge of the various technical terms associated
with it. They must be capable of configuring all the parameters of SPARSH VP710 and troubleshoot in-
case it malfunctions.
•End Users, that is persons/organizations who will actually use SPARSH VP710. They include residential
consumers, personnel of small and medium businesses, large enterprises, other commercial and public
organizations/institutions.
It is assumed that the End Users have some previous experience in operating key phones or mobile
phones. End Users are not expected to configure the phone or program its features since they may not
have the required technical understanding, but they must be capable to operate the phone. However, it is
anticipated that some of them may have to or want to configure the elementary settings of the phone and/
or program the features. Therefore, this document provides instructions on installation and configuration of
the phone in a very simple and lucid manner.

•Introduction - This chapter provides an overview of this document, its purpose, intended audience,
organization, terms and conventions used to present information and instructions.
•Know your SPARSH VP710 - It describes the phone hardware components and software (User
Interfaces) in details.
•Information for your Safety and Comfort - It describes some important measures for your personal
safety as well as protection of the product.
•Getting Started - It provides step-by-step instructions on assembling the phone-body and handset,
network and basic SIP configuration related information to connect the phone to the IP network.
• Using the Touch Screen - The IP phone supports three idle screens by default. You can swipe left or right
to switch among different idle screens.
•Customizing Your Phone - It describes instructions regarding customizing the phone as per your
requirement.
• System Applications - It provides basic operating instructions for using the system applications.The
system applications like Camera, Browser, Clock etc are pre-installed on your IP phone and cannot be
uninstalled,
• Account Management - It provides the information to configure the SIP account and Mobile Account of
the IP phone in detail.
•Accessing Basic Features - It provides step-by-step instructions on using the basic features including
making, receiving and managing calls once all necessary configurations are done.
•Accessing Advanced Features - It provides step-by-step instructions to access the advanced features of
the phone. It is basically aimed for the technically sound users having primary knowledge of the SIP
protocol and related features.
•Configuring Audio Features - It provides detailed information and instructions for configuring basic as
well as advanced audio settings.
• Configuring Video Features - It provides detailed information and instructions for configuring basic as
well as advanced video settings.
• Voice Quality Monitoring - Voice quality monitoring allows the IP phone to generate various quality
metrics for listening and conversational quality.

phone configuration and configure the security features.

How to Read this User Guide
This document is organized in a manner to help you get familiar with the phone, learn how to install it, connect it to
the network and start making and receiving calls, use basic features, and move on to more advanced configuration
and operation of the phone, all in the order of complexity. You are advised to read it in the sequence it is organized.
Instructions
The instructions in this document are written in bulleted lists, in a step-by-step format.
Cross references are provided in blue font, with hyperlinks to the headings. For example, you can refer to the
relevant topic easily by clicking the text in blue font in this document.
Symbols Used
The following symbols have been used for notices to draw your attention to important items.
Important: to indicate something that requires your special attention or to remind you of something you
might need to do when you are using the phone.
Caution: to indicate an action or condition that is likely to result in malfunction or damage to the phone or
your property.

Terminology
The technical terms and Acronyms used in this document are standard terms, commonly used for the industries
involved in dealing with telecommunication and/or data communication devices. Considering the broad group of
intended users of this document, wherever possible, use of jargon is avoided.
Acronyms have been defined in the text and a complete list of Acronyms used in this document is provided in
“Appendix E - Acronyms”.
The words IP phone, phone, VoIP phone or SIP phone are used interchangeably and synonymously to mean
Matrix SPARSH VP710. Some of the terms specific to this document that you will encounter frequently are defined
below:
•ITSP: Abbreviated form of Internet Telephony Service Provider. You can register the SIP account of
SPARSH VP710 with the SIP servers supported by an ITSP.
•OFF-Hook: The phone goes in OFF-Hook state when you,
• Lift the Handset from the cradle.

•ON-Hook: The phone goes in ON-Hook state when you,

•Calling party/Caller: The person who makes the call.
•Called party/Callee: The person to whom the call is made.
•User: The person who is in possession of the SPARSH VP710 IP phone and uses it.
•Remote user/Remote party/Remote end/Far end: The person with whom the user interacts.
•Phone/IP Phone: Both of these terms have been used synonymously in this document and refer to Matrix
SPARSH VP710.

Know Your SPARSH VP710
SPARSH VP710 is a Smart Video IP Deskphone engineered to deliver Video Conferencing Solution and Business
Media Applications with a touch of Android experience. It is the next step towards collaboration offering flexibility
and convenience providing lifelike unified communication. Deskphone is the perfect client to extract the capability
of server and with a smarter deskphone it is optimizing the return over investment by utilizing the UC features to the
extent.
Matrix SPARSH VP710 offers innovative features and sophisticated looks combining the best of both worlds
targeted towards business-class professionals. The Smart Deskphone empower customers with latest
technologies such as Wi-Fi, HDMI port, Bluetooth and USB connectivity bringing the world to their desk. With smart
features as Internet Connectivity, Touch-screen functionality and Multimedia Apps, SPARSH VP710 is a new
generation deskphone in line with smartphones, tablets and laptops.

This chapter provides the overview of the SPARSH VP710 IP phone. If you require additional information or
assistance with your new phone, contact your reseller/vendor.

Hardware Component Instructions
The main hardware components of the SPARSH VP710 IP phone are the touch screen, the keypad and the USB
camera.

Hardware component instructions of the IP phone are:

7 inch (1024 x 600) capacitive (5 point) touch screen. Tap to
select and highlight screen items. The IP phone supports
three idle screens by default.
Shows information about calls, messages, time, date and
other relevant data:
• Default account
• Call information—caller ID, call duration
• Icons (for example, )
• Missed call list or second incoming caller
information
• Prompt text (for example, “Save successfully!”)
• Timeanddate
3 HEADSET Key Toggles and indicates the headset mode. The key LED
illuminates solid green when headset mode is activated.
4 MUTE Key Toggles and indicates mute feature. The key LED
illuminates solid red when the call is muted.
5REDIAL Key Redials a previously dialed number.
6 Speakerphone Key
Toggles and indicates the hands-free (speakerphone)
mode. The key LED illuminates solid green when the
hands-free (speakerphone) mode is activated.
7 TRANSFER Key Transfers a call to another party.
8 HOLD Key Places a call on hold or resumes a held call.
9 MESSAGE Key • Accesses voice mails.
• Captures screenshots during a video call.
10 Volume Key Adjusts the volume of the handset, headset, speaker,
ringer or media.
11 Keypad Provides the digits and special characters in context-
sensitive applications.
12 Speaker Provides hands-free (speakerphone) audio output.
13 Hookswitch Tab
Secures the handset in the handset cradle when the IP
phone is mounted vertically. For more information on
how to adjust the hookswitch tab, refer to the Quick Start
Guide.

Feature Status Icons
Icons appearing on the status bar are described in the following table:
14 Hookswitch
• Picking up the handset from the handset cradle,
the hookswitch bounces and the phone connects
to the line.
• Laying the handset down on the handset cradle,
the phone disconnects from the line.
15 Camera Lens
2 Mega-pixel camera. Provides near-site video. The
better distance between camera and images you want to
capture should be in the range of 0.35 meters (1 foot) to
2 meters (6 feet).
16 Camera Indicator LED
Indicates video call status and camera status.
• Receives a video call—Flashing green
• The camera is inserted and detected
successfully on the phone—Solid green
17 Shutter Switch Covers and uncovers the camera. When the camera is
switched off, the video image is black.
18 USB2.0 Port Allows you to connect the USB flash drive/USB headset to
your phone.
