The symbol showing a wheelie bin with a cross through it which appears on the device indicates that at the
end of its useful life the product must be collected separately from other waste. Therefore, at the end of the
device’s life, you must take it to appropriate centres for the differentiated collection of electrical and
electronic waste, or return it to the retailer when purchasing a new device of equivalent type, on a one-for-
one basis. Suitable differentiated collection to allow subsequent recycling of the decommissioned device,

MELICONI remote control –Smart4
Thank you for choosing a Meliconi remote control.
The Meliconi Smart4 remote is a unique 3-in-1 device featuring:
1) a QWERTY keypad with wireless technology (mode - RF)
2) an Air-mouse with wireless technology (mode - RF)
3) a universal infrared remote for controlling a TV and other audio/video devices (mode - IR)
Smart4 also optimises the user’s experience of Smart TVs (televisions with an internet connection) by facilitating navigation
and character typing .
This model does not include a voice command (microphone) function.
The remote control requires 2 new 1.5V AAA/LR03 alkaline batteries, not included in the package.
DO NOT use rechargeable batteries.
Open the 2 battery doors located at the end of the remote control as they slide out as shown in Figure 1.
Pull out the USB dongle and insert the batteries with the correct polarity.
BATTERIES TEST: Referring to figure 3, press and hold the ON/OFF [ ] red button and check that the indicator light
remains on continuously until the button is released. If the light is off or blinks, the inserted batteries are low, therefore they
need replacement.
The MELICONI remote and its USB dongle are configured like a standard (Keypad + Mouse) HID (Human Interface Device).
Turn your SmartTV or device ON and plug the dongle into an available USB socket.
The MELICONI remote reproduces the same functions as a wired USB keypad or mouse.
So it depends on the device to which it is connected whether all (or part) of the corresponding functions are available.
Thanks to its built-in gyroscope, when the remote is moved through the air Smart4 interprets its movements as if it were a
mouse.
To turn this (Air-mouse) function ON or OFF press the MOUSE ON/OFF [] button indicated in figure 3. If ON, when you
move the remote, the pointer on the screen will move too. Other related functions are marked in orange.
If the remote is not used for more than 30 seconds, the Air-mouse function is disabled automatically.
Try out the alphanumerical keypad (figure 2) to make sure all the functions work properly. Press the [Fn]button for an
instant to activate or deactivate access to the second functions (the buttons with orange characters).
WARNINGS:
•If you can’t interact at all with the device you wish to control, disconnect the dongle and try connecting a wired USB keypad
or mouse to the same USB socket. If that doesn’t work either, it means the device is not compatible with the standard HID
interface.
•To use the device correctly, set the keypad language to ENGLISH (U.S.A). If you connect the dongle to a Personal
Computer, you may have to wait a few minutes to allow the drives to update automatically.

Do not leave exhausted batteries inserted, as liquid may leak and damage the remote control

WARNING: For this mode refer only to the functions indicated in BLUE color shown in Figure 3.
The Smart4 remote control is designed to command up to 4 different devices: TV - STB (SKY / satellite decoder / digital
terrestrial decoder) - DVD (Dvd, Blu Ray, PVR, Media Center and VCR) - AUX (other audio video equipments).
By LEARN function, you can capture and store infrared signals from other remotes and match at will to one or more buttons.
The MEMO function allows you to record a sequence of functions (button) and combine it with a single call button.
It is also designed to be connected to the PC via audio cable (included in the package) in order to download the latest
information to its configuration.
The remote control has a permanent memory, so it does not lose its settings even if there are no batteries in it.
Before using the remote control, for each device you wish to control, it is essential to set a specific code, it matched.
Identify the specific code and set it into the remote control using one of the following ways:

Go to the website listed above, or use the qr-code on the side, to access online tool FIND
THE CODE FOR YOUR REMOTE.
Once you have found the specific code for your device, set it in the remote control as
described in the ENTERING THE CODE DIRECTLY chapter.
(only to be performed if you know the specific code to be set)
•Press and hold on the MELICONI remote control for at least 6 seconds one of the selection
buttons corresponding to the device you wish to control. (example: [TV])
•When the indicator light flashes, release and immediately enter the previously identified code. (4
digits)
•Three final flashes indicate that the operation has been completed successfully.
If the remote control does NOT carry out the three final flashes, the setting is NOT successful; repeat the procedure.
If still unsuccessful, it means that the code is not included in the remote control, contact the customer service.

Send an SMS as follows: 4K, Type, Brand, Model EXAMPLE
ATTENTION - separate the information with a comma and be as precise as possible so that the information system can
search for data and answer correctly.
Send the SMS to 0039 345 7518893 and wait for a reply by SMS.
Once you have received the SMS with the list of codes, set the first code (4 digits) in the remote control as described in the
ENTERING THE CODE DIRECTLY chapter.
After entering the code stand in front of the device already turned on press ON/OFF [ ] button on the MELICONI remote
control. If the device does NOT switch off, set the next code in the SMS list on the remote control and try switching the device
off again. Repeat the operation until the device switches off. When the device switches off, check that the other buttons are
also operating correctly. If they do, the remote control is ready to use.
If certain buttons do not work correctly, you are probably using an incorrect code destined for a very similar device; at this
point ignore the SMS list and consult the SETTING VIA BRAND RESEARCH chapter to find a more suitable code.
NOTE: If you don’t receive an SMS on your mobile phone or if the message says ERROR or NO CODE, it means the
system has not been able to process the data you have sent. Do not send another SMS, only use the SETTING VIA
BRAND RESEARCH procedure or contact the customer service.

CAUTION: the search procedure could take several minutes.
A) Look in the table at the beginning of the booklet, referring to the column relating to the type,
the brand of device which you wish to control, and note the corresponding number in the
BUTTON column. If the brand is not present using zero “0”. (example: TV SONY = 3)
B) Stand in front of the device to be controlled and make sure it is ON (not in stand-by).
If necessary, switch it on using the original remote control (if this is still working) or the
buttons present on the device itself. (on TVs they can be on the side or the top).
C) Press and hold on the MELICONI remote control for at least 6 seconds one of the selection
buttons corresponding to the device you wish to control. (example: [TV])
D) When the indicator light flashes, release and immediately press the numeric button identified in
the table for a moment. EXAMPLE: 3
E) Pointing the remote control towards the device to be controlled, press and hold on the
MELICONI remote control the ON/OFF [ ] button.
CAUTION: you may have to keep the button pressed for a few minutes before the device
switches off.
F) When the device switches off, IMMEDIATELY RELEASE the button and press the [OK] button.
G) Three final flashes indicate that the operation has been completed successfully.
NOTE: During the search the indicator stops flashing and the remote control exits the search mode in the following
cases:
•if for 30 seconds the indicated button is not pressed or if another button is pressed.
•if the list of codes to find is terminated. In this case consult the www.meliconi.com/guide website or contact the
customer service.
ADDITIONAL CHECK
Check that the MELICONI remote control operates your device also with the other main functions; if it does not,
REPEAT the procedure from step B using the same brand number.
If, after various attempts, do not get a satisfactory result REPEAT the procedure from step B, using 0 (zero) as brand
number.
SETTING VIA BRAND RESEARCH

The Smart4 remote control is equipped with Learn technology that can acquire and memorise signals from other infrared
remote controls. This feature is particularly useful in several cases
To add or change a function connected to a button on the MELICONI remote control.
Having activated the remote control and checked it is working correctly, you may need to add or replace a function on one
of the MELICONI remote control buttons with another function you consider to be handier or more frequently used.
Assign some functions to some buttons to control other devices (example: volume +/- SOUNDBAR).
To acquire the entire keypad of an original remote control when a suitable activation code cannot be found.
If no code on the MELICONI remote control is able to command the required appliance properly, set a activation code of
8000 to create a completely empty keypad that can then be used to capture the functions required and connect them to the
various buttons. You can also use more empty keyboards (8000/8001/8002/8003/8004) for use with a variety of devices
(TV/SAT/TER/DVD/PVR).
The Smart4 remote control can learn up to a maximum of 63 signals coming from various original remote controls and
connect at will to the desired buttons (even if they have a different use to the one selected).
Signals can also be learnt and set on all the buttons on the MELICONI remote control, except the device selection buttons
and LEARN button. Obviously the preset functions are lost, but they can be restored by setting again the activation code.
The Learn operation can be repeated numerous times, and the signals captured are kept in the memory even if the batteries
are removed or go flat.
●Positioning the remote controls correctly.
• Check that the batteries in both remote controls (the original and the MELICONI remote) are fully charged; if semi-charged
batteries are used the signal acquisition procedure may prove difficult or fail completely.
• Check you are operating in the required mode by pressing the corresponding device selection button on the MELICONI
remote control for an instant. (example: [TV])
• Position the original remote control in front of the MELICONI remote control so the areas which emit the infrared signals are
opposite each other at a distance of approximately 5 cm.
• Press the [LEARN]button for an instant and then, within five seconds, press and hold down one of the buttons on the
original remote control; the indicator light under the [LEARN]button should start flashing; if it doesn't, move the remote
controls closer together.
• Gradually move the original remote control away, making sure the two remotes stay aligned, until the point at which the
indicator light stops flashing; then move the remote control to half the previous distance and keep both remotes in this
position until the process has terminated.
●Capturing signals.
•Press for an instant on the MELICONI remote control the [LEARN]button together with the button you wish to connect the
captured signal to, the indicator light will come on with a steady light.
•Press the button on the original remote to be captured, hold it down until the indicator light goes out and then release it.
IMPORTANT: If after releasing the button the indicator light comes back on, press the same button again until the indicator
light goes out once more.
•If the signal has been captured correctly the RED indicator light under the device selection button will produce three final
flashes.
•To capture other signals to connect to other buttons, repeat the procedure described above.
During normal use, if the indicator light comes on under the [LEARN]button when a button is pressed, it means that the
function connected to the button is not the preset one, but has been acquired manually using the LEARN procedure.
Each LEARN function used reduces the number of available MEMO functions.
Reached the number of records available, the dedicated memory becomes full, preventing further use.
To free memory use one of the following procedures in relation to the data that you want to delete:
• DELETE FUNCTION BY SINGLE BUTTON
• ENTERING THE CODE DIRECTLY
• RESET THE REMOTE CONTROL
LEARN FUNCTION

The MEMO function allows you to record a sequence of functions (button) and combine it with a single call button.
Sometimes it is necessary to perform different operations in succession in order to obtain a certain result.
With MEMO function will be possible to automate a number of functions (also on different devices) without having to
remember and repeat every time you need.
•The MEMO function records the pressure of a maximum of 31 buttons, including the device selection buttons, (except the
[LEARN]button) also memorizing the pressure time and issue of the buttons.
•Any button (except the device selection buttons and the [LEARN]button) can be used to record a MEMO function;
obviously the preset function on the button will be lost, but it can be recalled by setting again the activation code.
•To recall a MEMO function, press the button to which was matched, the remote control will play the entire sequence
memorized ignoring any other command until its end.
•You can not create recursive or nested MEMO (MEMO functions that call other MEMO)
•More MEMO functions (up to maximum total of 63) can be recorded in the various remote control use modes
•The recording of MEMO function can be repeated many times, moreover the sequences captured are kept in memory even
with dead batteries or removed.
●MEMO RECORDING
•Simultaneously press on the MELICONI remote control the [OK]button and one of the selection buttons corresponding to
the device you wish to operate (example: [TV]); release, the indicator light flashes.
•Enter the number 999 and press for a moment the button to which to combine the MEMO function.
•At this point the remote control is ready to record the desired button sequence; press in order the buttons to memorize with
the normal rhythm used to command the relative devices.
•To terminate the record procedure, press and hold for at least 6 seconds the selection button (example: [TV]).
•Wait three flashes indicate that storage; release. (the used button loses the original function that will be called by setting
again the activation code)
From now when the designated button is pressed, the MELICONI remote control will automatically reproduce the sequence
of buttons memorised.
Each MEMO function used reduces the number of available LEARN functions.
Reached the number of records available, the dedicated memory becomes full, preventing further use.
To free memory use one of the following procedures in relation to the data that you want to delete:
• DELETE FUNCTION BY SINGLE BUTTON
• ENTERING THE CODE DIRECTLY
• RESET THE REMOTE CONTROL
If you want to delete the function in combination with a single button, operate as follows:
•Simultaneously press on the MELICONI remote control the [OK]button and one of the selection buttons corresponding to
the device you wish to operate (example: [TV]); release, the indicator light flashes.
•Enter the number 888 and keep pressed for at least 6 seconds the button of which you want to delete the function.
•Three final flashes indicate that the operation has been completed successfully.
The original function can be restored by setting the activation code again.
If necessary it is possible to completely reset the remote control and bring it back to the initial conditions.
WARNING! All user settings will be lost. Operate as follows:
•Press and hold on the MELICONI remote control for at least 6 seconds one of the selection buttons corresponding to the
device you wish to control. (example: [TV])
•When the indicator light flashes, release and immediately enter the code 7001.
•Three final flashes indicate that the operation has been completed successfully.
RESET THE REMOTE CONTROL
DELETE FUNCTION BY SINGLE BUTTON
MEMO FUNCTION

ATTENTION: If the MELICONI remote control has been set to control several appliances (example TV and DECODER), in
normal use before working with each of them, you must select the type of device which you wish to control, briefly pressing
the corresponding button.
Sometimes some functions of the original remote control are not directly present on the MELICONI remote control keypad.
To enable them proceed as described in chapter ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS.
Use the online tool FIND THE CODE FOR YOUR REMOTE and continue until you see the list matching buttons between the
original remote control and the MELICONI remote control. After identified the function you want to achieve, note the 3-digit
number in amber to it combined and operate as follows:
•Simultaneously press on the MELICONI remote control the [OK]button and one of the selection
buttons corresponding to the device you wish to control (example: [TV]); release, the indicator
light flashes.
•Point the remote control at the device to be controlled and dial the 3-digit number corresponding to the function you want to
get. (with the pressure of the third digit the remote control already transmits such function)
•To match the function obtained to a MELICONI remote control button, within 5 seconds, press
and hold the desired button.
•Wait three flashes indicate that storage; release the button. (the used button loses the original
function that will be called by setting again the activation code)
Connect the MELICONI remote control to a Personal Computer with Internet access through the appropriate audio cable
(included in the package) as shown in figure.
Operate as follows:
• Make sure the remote control is equipped with charged batteries.
• Insert the supplied audio cable into the jack located on the remote control side.
• Connect the jack of the cable to the audio / headphone output PC (green jack
socket).
•Consult the www.meliconi.com/guide website and use the tool FIND THE CODE
FOR YOUR REMOTE and follow the signs.

activate the remote control quickly and easily.
IMPORTANT! When contacting technical support it is INDISPENSABLE that you communicate the BRAND and
MODEL of the device that you want to control and which MELICONI remote control you are using.

RF MODE (mouse and keyboard)
●IF THE MOUSE AND THE KEYPAD ARE NOT DETECTED
Disconnect the dongle and connect up a normal wired USB keypad or mouse. If they don’t work, it means the device is not
compatible with the standard HID interface used in the MELICONI Smart4 remote.
Alternatively, try pairing the remote > dongle as follows:
Disconnect the USB dongle from the device and remove the batteries from the remote.
Insert the batteries again; press and hold down the [Fn] and [P0]buttons shown in figure 2until the Fn LED lights up; then
release the buttons.
Within 30 seconds reconnect the dongle. A few seconds later, the Fn LED will flash 3 times to confirm that the dongle and
remote are correctly paired.
●IF THE MOUSE POINTER DOES NOT FOLLOW THE MOVEMENTS OF THE REMOTE CORRECTLY
Position the remote on a horizontal surface and hold it steady. Then press and hold down the [Fn] and [Y6]shown in figure
2until the Fn LED lights up; then release the buttons.
A few seconds later, the Fn LED will flash 3 times to confirm that the pointer and remote are correctly aligned.
If you wish to adjust the sensitivity of the pointer to the movement of the remote, there are 4 levels.
To reduce the level of sensitivity, press the MOUSE ON/OFF [] and AUDIO - [ ] buttons, shown in figure 3, together for
an instant. To increase the level of sensitivity, press the MOUSE ON/OFF [] and AUDIO + [ ] buttons, shown in figure
3, together for an instant.
●IF THE RANGE SEEMS LOW OR THE MOUSE OR KEYPAD ARE OPERATING ERRATICALLY

IR MODE (universal remote control)
●IF THE REMOTE CONTROL IS NEW AND YOU CAN NOT MAKE IT WORK
Check that you have carried out all the settings procedures correctly. If necessary repeat them, following all the steps
indicated carefully.
The code set in the remote control is incorrect for the device that you want to control. Consult the www.meliconi.com/guide
website to find the correct code for your device. Or try entering all the codes for the same brand shown on the website or
received via SMS one by one and check which one works.
●IF THE REMOTE CONTROL STOPS WORKING
Remove the batteries, press some buttons and insert NEW batteries. Make sure that the remote control is pointing at the
device without any obstacles between them.
When pressed (even unintentionally) one of the selection buttons, you put the remote control to command that type of device.
Then select the device you wish to control by briefly pressing the corresponding button (example: [TV]) and verify if the
remote control starts over working.
Also try entering the code used to set the remote control again.
●IF SOME FUNCTIONS ARE NOT AVAILABLE ON THE REMOTE CONTROL
Usually the MELICONI remote control makes available only the present functions on his keyboard, provided they are
available also on the original remote control.
If some of the MAIN functions are not available, you are probably using an incorrect code. Find and set a more suitable code
as described earlier.
Some secondary functions are not present on the MELICONI remote control keypad, to obtained them proceed as described
in chapter ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS.
ATTENTION!
Most problems are caused by using insufficiently charged batteries.
We recommend checking and replace them as shown in the INSERTING THE BATTERIES chapter.
