Low Stock Sensor and Power Switch:
The low stock sensor and power switch are located on the rear-left corner of the machine
regardless of the model type. The low-stock sensor is an optional add-on that can signal when a
roll is close to being depleted.

Buttons and Status LEDs
Buttons:
- CUTTER
oPress to test the cutter. When pressed, a small amount of paper will be fed
through and then cut.
- FEED
oHold to manually feed paper through the printer. Hold while powering up to print
a test form.
- RESET
oReset the printer.
LEDs and Status Codes:
- PAPER
oSolid Red
Paper not loaded
Low stock sensor not connected (ERROR will also flash in this case)
- ERROR
oSlow flashing
Low stock sensor not connected
oFlashes twice
No paper detected
oFlashes three times
Top cover is open
oFlashes four times
Paper loaded incorrectly
oFlashes five times
Over voltage
oFlashes six times
Over temperature
- POWER
oSolid green
Indicates the printer is powered on

Printing a Test Form
Load the printer with paper and hold the FEED button while powering on to print a test form. In
addition to confirming print functionality, the test form also lists diagnostic information (as well as
network parameters if using an Ethernet model).

There is no difference between the USB/Serial and USB/Ethernet drivers; either one will work
for any 814M.

Windows Driver Installation
Plug the printer into the PC and power it on. Once the driver package has finished downloading,
extract the archive and launch Setup.exe to begin installation.
Read and accept the legal agreement and then click Next.

At the Select Install Module menu, ensure that Microcom 814M-3 is selected in the
Embedded dropdown menu. You may also optionally choose to set the 814M as the default
printer.
Make sure Microcom 814M-3 is selected. This indicates the driver should be configured for a
300 DPI 814M (Microcom does not currently offer 203 DPI variations of the 814M).

At the Setup Type menu, select Typical.
Setup the driver as a Typical installation
At the Select Install OS menu, select the Windows version matching your operating system.
Please note that the “Windows 8/Other OS” listing covers Windows versions 8 and
higher, including Windows 10.
