Access and controlmultiplemulti-platformcomputersfromoneKeyboardVideo
Mouse(KVM)consolewiththeSmartCAT5Switch(SmartCAT5)system. The
SmartCAT5comesin108 and 116 models. Connectup to8computerstothe108
model, andup to16 tothe116 model.
TheSmartCAT5isbasedonMinicom’sinnovativeRoCtechnologyinwhicheach
computer/serverisdirectlyconnectedtotheswitchvia RICon Cable(RoC)using
standardCAT5cableatadistanceofup to30m/99ftina starconfiguration. The
systemalsoworkswithMinicom’sRICCsusingstandardCAT5cableup to10m/33ft
.

Elevatedoperatingambienttemperature
Theoperatingambienttemperatureoftherackenvironmentmaybegreaterthanthe
roomambientwheninstallingintoa closedormulti-unit rackassembly. Soinstallthe
equipmentinanenvironmentcompatiblewiththemaximumratedambient
temperature.
Reducedairflow
Installtheequipmentina rackinsucha waythattheamountofairflowrequiredfor
safeoperationisnotcompromised.
Mechanicalloading
Mounttheequipmentintherackinsucha waythatahazardousconditionisnot
achievedduetounevenmechanicalloading.
Circuitoverloading
Whenconnectingtheequipmenttothesupplycircuit, considertheeffectthat
overloadingofcircuitsmighthaveon over-currentprotectionandsupplywiring.
Reliableearthingofrack-mountedequipmentshouldbemaintained. Giveattentionto
supplyconnectionsotherthandirectconnectionstothebranchcircuit(e.g. useof
powerstrips).
