In this manual, the following symbols are used with the items where important
operational and safety information must be observed.
Symbol Meaning

Basic scanning
Scanning to e-mail address
You can attach the scanned document to an e-mail for transmission.

•To scan to e-mail, you should connect the machine to a network, and setup the “TCP/
IP Settings”, SMTP settings in “E-mail Settings”, and add an e-mail address to the
machine in advance.
For details on the network setting, see chapter 2, “Specifying the network settings”
in the Administrator’s Guide, and chapter 3, “Setting the e-mail environment” in the
OfficeBridge Guide.
•The procedures are explained here using destinations registered in advance. There
are various ways to specify destinations. For details, see “Specifying destinations”
(page 5-2).

Select “Shared” or “Personal”, and press [Enter].
Here, we select “Shared”. To select “Personal”, you should log in the machine before the
operation.

Select the desired destination, and press [Select].
•To deselect the destination, press [Clear].
•The selected destinations will have a icon displayed.

Press [Close] repeatedly until the “Scan Ready” screen is displayed.

Press <Start>.
•When you have loaded the document on the automatic document feeder, this will complete
the operation.
•When you have loaded the document on the document glass, the following message will
appear when the first page of the document is scanned.

Load the next document, and press [Scan NextPage].

Repeat step 10 to scan all the documents.
To finish scanning, press [Scanning End].

Scanning to shared PC folders
You can save a scanned document to a shared folder in a computer on the network.

•To scan to folder, you should connect the machine to a network and setup the “TCP/
IP Settings” in advance.
See chapter 2, “TCP/IP settings” in “Specifying the network settings” in the

•To scan to folder, the destinations should be registered to your machine in advance.
For details on registering the folder shortcuts, see chapter 2 “Registering shortcuts”
in the OfficeBridge Guide.

Select “Folder”, and press [Enter].

Select the desired folder shortcut, and press [Select].
To deselect the destination, press [Clear].

Enter the user name to access the folder, and press [Enter].
When no authentication is required to access the folder, proceed to step 9.

Enter the password to access the folder, and press [Enter].

To specify a sub-folder, press [] and then [Subfolder].
•To deselect the destination, press [Clear].
•The selected destinations will have a icon displayed.

Select the desired sub-folder, press [Select].
•To deselect the destination, press [Clear].

When all the desired folders are selected, press [Close] repeatedly until the “Scan
Ready” screen is displayed.

Scanning to FTP servers
You can save a scanned document to a specific folder on an FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
server.

•To scan to FTP server, you should connect the machine to a network and setup the
“TCP/IP Settings” in advance.
See chapter 2, “TCP/IP settings” in “Specifying the network settings” in the
Administrator’s Guide.
•To scan to FTP server, the destinations should be registered to your machine in
advance. For details on registering the FTP shortcuts, see chapter 2 “Registering
shortcuts” in the OfficeBridge Guide.

Scanning to USB memory device
You can save a scanned document to a USB memory connected to the machine.
USB memory
NOTE
•Only USB memory with no security function can be used.
•The scanned data are save on the root of the USB memory.
•Memory card readers connected via USB, USB memory via an extension cable
and USB hub, and USB memory that does not meet the USB standards, are all
unsupported.
•If the USB memory becomes full while the data is being saved, the data that is
being written is all deleted. Therefore, make sure that the USB memory has enough
free space in advance.

Select “Scan to USB”, and press [Enter].

Connect the USB memory to the machine.

If you want to set advanced functions such as file format, press <Advanced> and
then set the function as necessary.
For details on the advanced scan function, see “Advanced scan functions” (page 2-4).

Press <Start>.

NOTE
If you connect USB memory when the machine is in the ready state, the following
display will appear. Select “Scan To USB” and press [Enter]. Then follow the
procedures from step 6.

Basic scan settings
You can set the resolution and mono/color for scanning.
NOTE
You can change the default settings, as necessary. For details, see “Specifying default
settings” (page 7-16).
Resolution

Press the mode change key to change to scan mode.

Press [Resolution].
If [Resolution] is not displayed, press <Advanced> select “Resolution” [Enter].

Select the desired resolution, and press [Enter].
NOTE
If you set a high resolution, the document will be scanned clearly, but the size of the
created file will be large.
Color
You can set whether to scan the document in color or monochrome.

Press the mode change key to change to scan mode.

Press [Color].
•The button switches between “Mono” and “Color” each time you press [Color].
•If [Color] is not displayed, press <Advanced> select “Color” [Enter].
•Mono:
•Color:
Select this setting to scan the document in black and white.
Select this setting to scan the document in color.

Scanning with a TWAIN driver
You can use a TWAIN-compliant Windows application on your computer to scan a
document.
NOTE
•Install the TWAIN scanner driver to the computer before using this function.
For details on installing the driver, see chapter 1, “Installing to Windows” in the
Printer Guide.
•To scan a document with a TWAIN driver, you should connect the machine either to
a network and setup the “TCP/IP Settings”, or directly with an USB cable.
•Since the operation procedure differs according to the application software you are
using, refer to the documentation for the application software for details.

Load the document.

Start the application software that supports TWAIN on your computer.

Click [Scan] and select “Muratec MFX-35x0 NW Scan”.
•This command may differ according to the application you are using.
•If you have connected the computer and the machine with a USB cable, select “Muratec
MFX-35x0 Scan”. Proceed to step 5.

Enter the IP address of the machine, and press [OK].
•This procedure is required only for the first time.
•If you do not know the IP address, you can detect the IP address of the connected devices
on “Device Search” screen. First, click [Search] to display the device search screen. Next,
click [Refresh]. If the “Windows Security Alert” screen is displayed, click [Unblock] or [Allow
access], and then click [Refresh] again. Select the device name from the list, and click [OK].
(The “Windows Security Alert” screen is not displayed from the second time you perform this
operation.)
•Enter the HTTP port number, if necessary.
