箱を開けてから本装置が使えるようになるまでの手順を説明します。
このスタートアップガイドにしたがって作業してください。
使用上のご注意
本製品を安全に正しくご使用になるために必要な情報が記載されています。
安全にかかわる表示について
本書にはどこが危険か、どのような危険に遭うのか、どうすれば危険を避けられるかなどについて説明されています。
また、製品内で危険が想定される箇所またはその付近には警告ラベルが貼り付けられています。
本書、および警告ラベルでは危険の程度を表す言葉として、「警告」と「注意」という用語を使用しています。それぞれ
の用語は次のような意味を持つものとして定義されます。
人が死亡する、または重傷を負うおそれがあることを示します。
火傷やけがなどを負うおそれや物的損害を負うおそれがあることを示します。
(プラグを抜け)この記号は行為の強制を表します。記号の中の絵表示は、しなければ
ならない行為の内容を図案化したものです。危険を避けるためにはこ
の行為が必要です。

電源がONのまま取り付け・取り外しをしない
本体装置への取り付け・取り外しの際や、周辺機器との接続の際は必ず主電源に接続しているACコードをACコンセントから
抜いてください。ACコードがACコンセントに接続されたまま取り付け・取り外しや接続をすると感電をするおそれがあります。

安全上のご注意
全般的な注意事項
人命に関わる業務や高度な信頼性を必要とする業務には使用しない
本製品は、医療機器・原子力設備や機器、航空宇宙機器・輸送設備や
機器など、人命に関わる設備や機器および高度な信頼性を必要とする
設備や機器などへの組み込みやこれらの機器の制御を目的とした使用
は意図されておりません。これらの設備や機器、制御システムなどに本
製品を使用した結果、人身事故、財産被害などが生じても当社はいかな
る責任も負いかねます。
煙や異臭、異音がしたまま使用しない
万一、煙、異臭、異音などが生じた場合は、ただちに本体装置の電源を
OFFにして電源プラグをAC コンセントから抜き、本製品のDCケーブル
を抜いてください。その後、お買い求めの販売店または保守サービス会
社にご連絡ください。そのまま使用すると火災の原因となります。
製品内に水や異物を入れない
製品内に水などの液体、ピンやクリップなどの異物を入れないでくださ
い。火災や感電、故障の原因となります。もし入ってしまったときは、す
ぐに本体装置の電源をOFFにして電源コードをACコンセントから抜き、
本製品のDCケーブルを抜いてください。分解しないで販売店に連絡して
ください。
設置・移動・保管・接続に関する注意事項
通気孔をふさがない
本製品の前面にある通気孔をふさがないでください。内部の温度が上昇
し、誤動作の原因となるばかりでなく、火災や感電の原因となります。
プラグを抜かずにインタフェースケーブルの取り付けや取り外しをしない
インタフェースケーブルの取り付け／取り外しは本体装置の電源プラグ
をコンセントから抜いて行ってください。たとえ電源をOFFにしても電源
コードを接続したままケーブルやコネクタに触ると感電したり、ショートに
よる火災を起こしたりすることがあります。
指定以外のインタフェースケーブルを使用しない
インタフェースケーブルは、NECが指定するものを使用し、接続する製
品やコネクタを確認した上で接続してください。指定以外のケーブルを
使用したり、接続先を誤ったりすると、ショートにより火災を起こすことが
あります。
また、インタフェースケーブルの取り扱いや接続について次の注意をお
守りください。
■ ケーブルを踏まない。■ ケーブルの上にものを載せない。
■ ケーブルの接続がゆるんだまま使用しない。
■ 破損したケーブルを使用しない。
■ 破損したケーブルコネクタを使用しない。
■ ネジ止めなどのロックを確実に行ってください。
針金や金属片を差し込まない
通気孔やカートリッジ挿入口から金属片や針金などの異物を差し込まな
いでください。感電の危険があります。
運用中の注意事項
カートリッジ挿入口に手を入れない
カートリッジ挿入口に手を入れないでください。手を挟まれたり、巻き込
まれたりしてけがをするおそれがあります。
雷がなったら触らない
雷が鳴りだしたら、ケーブル類も含めて本装置には触れないでください。
また、機器の接続や取り外しも行わないでください。落雷による感電の
おそれがあります。
ペットを近づけない
本製品にペットなどの生き物を近づけないでください。排泄物や体毛が
製品内部に入って火災や感電の原因となります。
腐食性ガスの存在する環境で使用または保管しない
腐食性ガス(二酸化硫黄、硫化水素、二酸化窒素、塩素、アンモニア、
オゾンなど)の存在する環境に設置し、使用しないでください。
また、ほこりや空気中に腐食を促進する成分(塩化ナトリウムや硫黄な
ど)や導電性の金属などが含まれている環境へも配置しないでください。
装置内部のプリント基板が腐食し、故障および発煙・発火の原因となる
おそれがあります。
もし、ご使用の環境で上記の疑いがある場合には、販売店または保守
サービス会社にご相談ください。
高温注意
本装置の電源をOFFにした直後は、内蔵型のハードディスクドライブなど
をはじめ装置内の部品が高温になっています。十分に冷めたことを確認
してから取り付け/取り外しを行ってください。
電源・電源コードに関する注意事項
電源がONのまま取り付け・取り外しをしない
本体装置への取り付け・取り外しの際や、周辺機器との接続の際は必ず
主電源に接続している電源プラグをACコンセントから抜いてください。電
源プラグがACコンセントに接続されたまま取り付け・取り外しや接続をす
ると感電したりショートによる火災を起こすおそれがあります。
中途半端に差し込まない
DCケーブルはしっかりと差し込んでください。中途半端に差し込むと接触
不良のため発熱し、火災の原因となることがあります。また差し込み部に
ほこりがたまり、水滴などが付くと発熱し、火災の原因となるおそれがあ
ります。
指定以外の接続をしない
DCケーブルの接続や配線は本書の説明に従って正しく行ってください。
指定以外の接続や配線は火災や感電の原因となるおそれがあります。
破損したケーブルを使用しない
ケーブルを接続する前にコネクタが破損していたり、コネクタピンが曲
がっていたり、汚れたりしていないことを確認してください。破損や曲がっ
ているコネクタおよび汚れたコネクタを使用するとショートにより火災を引
き起こすおそれがあります。
指定以外のケーブルを使用しない
本体装置と接続するケーブルは当社指定のものを使用し、接続先をよ
く確認してください。指定以外のケーブルを使用したり、指示とは異なる
接続のまま使用したりすると火災を引き起こすおそれがあります。
お手入れに関する注意事項
自分で分解・修理・改造はしない
本製品の分解や、修理・改造は絶対にしないでください。製品が正常に
動作しなくなるばかりでなく、感電や火災の危険があります。
中途半端に取り付けない
DCケーブルやインタフェースケーブルは確実に取り付けてください。中途
半端に取り付けると接触不良を起こし、発煙や発火の原因となるおそれ
があります。
プラグを差し込んだまま取り扱わない
お手入れは、本体装置の電源をOFFにして、電源プラグをACコンセント
から抜き、本製品のDCケーブルを抜いてください。たとえ電源をOFFにし
ても、電源プラグを接続したまま製品内の部品に触ると感電したりショート
による火災を起こすおそれがあります。
本装置の詳しい取り扱いについては、添付のCD内のユー
ザーズガイドに記載されています。本装置を使用前に必ず
ユーザーズガイドもお読みください。
カートリッジは消耗品です。カートリッジに対する保守作業
は実施できませんのであらかじめご了承願います。
カートリッジに関するお問い合わせは、販売店または

3. 本体装置への取り付け
本体装置機器等への設置方法例を以下に示します。
(1)下図の様にN8151-105内蔵RDXを取り付けます。
(2)本体装置のマザーボード上の
USB コネクタにINT.USB イン
タフェースケーブルの10Pin
コネクタを接続してください。
USBコネクタの位置は、本体
装置によって異なりますので、
本体装置のユーザーズガイド
を参照してください。
(3)右図のように装置に本製品添付のDCケーブルと指定された
USBケーブルを接続してください。USBケーブルについては
本体装置のユーザーズガイド等を確認してください。
指定されたUSBケーブルによっては、USB FDD用のケーブルと
二股になっている場合があります、FDDも実装している場合は、
このケーブルをFDDに接続してください。FDDを実装してい
ない場合には、ケーブルは束ねて本体装置内の空いている
スペースにしまってください。
接続する順番はDCケーブル → USBケーブルになります。
・本製品にレールを取り付ける場合は、
Fig.1, Fig.2に示すネジ穴を使用してください。

•反対側も同様に、片側2箇所、計4箇所をネジ
止めしてください。レールが、本製品のフロント
ベゼル部のモールド部までくる場合があります
が、問題ありません。本製品のフロントベゼル
面と、本体標準装備 のDVDドライブなどとの
フロントベゼルの位置が一致するように、レー
ルの取り付け位置を調節してください（Fig. 3）。
（レールの形状は本体装置により異なります。）
本体装置によっては、位置が一致しないものも
ありますが、問題ありません
・本体装置によってはカートリッジ排出時にカート
リッジ背面が本体装置のフロントカバーに接触
することがあります。接触を避けるために、レー
ルの取り付け位置を変えるか、ブラケットの
長穴を利用して、本製品を奥にずらして実装
してください。
・Express5800/140Rfに実装する場合は、
本製品がデバイスベイからに3mm程度前方にずれるようにレールの取り付け
を調整してください。
・5.25インチデバイスタイプ、3.5インチデバイスタイプのどちらの場合も使用
するネジは同じです。
・本製品に添付されているネジを使って固定してください。本製品に添付の
ネジは、ミリネジ（長さ3.0 mm）です。添付のネジより長いものを使用
すると製品の故障の原因となります。
ただし、本体装置側で指定されたネジがある場合は、本体指定のネジを
使用してください。またその他本体装置でも添付ネジ使用等の注意書きが
ある場合がありますので、本体装置のユーザーズガイドも必ず参照して
くだ さい。
＜重要＞本製品の使用にあたって （その１）
・OSのインストール時などで本製品が有効なために処理が失敗する場合は、本製品を「休止モード」に設定
してください 。
休止モードの設定方法
1.システムの電源を落としてください。
2.本製品のイジェクトボタンを押したままの状態で、サーバの電源をONし約3秒間イジェクトボタンを押し
続けることにより休止モードとなります。休止モード状態では、本製品の電源LEDがアンバーに点滅します。
休止モードの解除方法
解除方法は休止モードの設定と同じ手順です。同じ手順で「設定⇔解除」を繰り返します。
・EXPRESSBUILDERの「TOOL MENU」から各種ツール（Maintenance Utilityなど）を起動する場合は、本体
装置起動前にRDXのカートリッジを取り出しておいてください。また「TOOL MENU」の「BIOS/FW Updating」、
「ROM-DOS Startup FD」から作成したFDを使用する場合も、本体装置起動前にRDXのカートリッジを取り出
しておいてください。
・バックアップにあたっての注意事項をユーザーズガイドに記載しておりますので、ご使用前にこちらも参照
ください。
2. 3.5インチデバイスへの変更方法
本製品を3.5インチデバイスで使用するときは、左右のブラケットを取り外します。
ブラケットの取り外しプラスドライバを使ってブラケットネジを取り外すと、ブラケットが外れ ます。

取り外したブラケットとネジは、大切に保管しておいてください。このネジは、ブラケットを
取り付けるときのみに使用します。このネジはミリネジ（長さ5.0 mm）です。このネジより
長いものを使用すると製品の故障の原因となります。
(4)ケーブル接続後、ファンや他の機器に干渉しないよう束ねてください。
(5)本体装置にカバーを取り付けて、電源コードをコンセントに接続する。
(6)本体装置の電源をONにする。
・本体装置によってはレールを使用するものもあります。設置方法
については、本体装置の取扱説明書も参照してください。
＜重要＞本製品の使用にあたって （その２）
・本製品はリムーバブルハードディスク装置です。データのバックアップ用としてご使用ください。
・Windows上で本製品は、リムーバブルディスクとして表示されます。また、デバイス名は「TANDBERG RDX」と
表示されます。Linux上で本製品は「Vendor: TANDBERG Model: RDX」と認識されます。
・カートリッジは消耗品です。エラーが発生したカートリッジは使い続けず、新しいカートリッジに交換してく ださい。
・カートリッジに衝撃が加わった場合には、早めにカートリッジ内のデータを保存して、カートリッジを新しいものと
交換してください。
・本製品には当社指定のカートリッジをご使用ください。
・カートリッジを長期間使用しない場合でも、3ヶ月に1度くらいの目安で定期的に読み出し確認を行うことをお勧め
します。
・カートリッジは消耗品です。カートリッジに対する保守作業は実施できませんのであらかじめご了承願います。
カートリッジに関するお問い合わせは、販売店または「ファーストコンタクトセンター」へご連絡ください。

General Attention
Do not use in life-critical applications or applications requiring
high reliability.
This device is not intended for integration with or control of facilities
or equipment that may affect human life or that require a high
degree of reliability, such as medical equipment, nuclear power
facilities, aerospace instruments, and transportation equipment. The
manufacturer does not assume any liability for accidents resulting in
injury or death, or for any damages to property that may occur as a
result of using this device in such facilities, equipment, or control
systems.
Do not use the Built-in RDX if any smoke, odor, or noise is
present.
If smoke, odor, or noise is present, immediately turn off the
POWER switch and disconnect the power plug from the outlet, then
contact your sales agent. Using the Built-in RDX in such conditions
may cause a fire.
Keep water or foreign matter away from the Built-in RDX.
Do not let any kind of liquid (water etc.) or foreign matter (e.g.,pins
or paper clips) enter the Built-in RDX. Failure to follow this warning
may cause an electric shock, a fire, or a failure of the Built-in RDX.
When such things accidentally enter the Built-in RDX, immediately
turn off the power and disconnect the power plug from the outlet.
Do not disassemble the Built-in RDX. Contact your sales agent.
Attention to Power or Power Cord
Do not install the device while the power is turned on.
Unplug the AC power cord from the main power source when
installing/uninstalling the device to/from server or connect it
with the enclosure. Failure to follow this warning may cause
an electric shock.
Insert the DC cable into the outlet as far as it goes.
Heat generation resulting from a halfway inserted DC cable
(imperfect contact) may cause a fire. Heat will also be
generated if condensation is formed on dusty blades of the
halfway inserted cable, increasing the possibility of a fire.
Do not connect the Built-in RDX by unspecified cabling.
Connecting or cabling with DC cable should be done in
accordance with the procedure specified in the User's Guide.
Unspecified connecting or cabling may cause an electric shock
or a fire.
Do not use any damaged power cord.
If the power cord is damaged, immediately replace it with a new
part of same type. Do not repair the damaged section for reuse.
Otherwise, the section repaired with vinyl tape or the like will be
overheated to cause an electric shock or a fire.
Use the authorized cable only.
Use only the specified cable when connecting the Built-in RDX
with a server. Use of an unspecified cable or connection by
unspecified cabling may cause a fire.
Attention to Installing, Moving, Storing, Connection
Do not close the ventilation hole.
Do not close the ventilation hole in the front side of the Built-in RDX.
Otherwise, Its internal temperature will rise to cause malfunctions or
a fire.
Do not connect/disconnect the interface cables before
unplugging the power plug.
Before connecting/disconnecting the interface cables, disconnect
the power plug of the main power unit from the outlet. If the power
is off but the power plug is still connected, you may get an electric
shock.
Do not use the unspecified interface cables.
Use only the cable authorized by NEC and locate the device and
connector before connection. Use of an unauthorized cable or
displaced connection may cause a short circuit, resulting in a fire.
When handling or connecting the interface cables, keep the notes
as follows:
■Do not tread on cables.
■Do not load on the cable.
■Insert the cable connector as far as it goes.
■Do not use damaged cables.
■Do not use damaged connectors.
■Make sure that screwing or the like be done firmly.
Keep needles or metal objects away from the Built-in RDX.
Do not insert needles or metal objects into ventilation holes in the
Built-in RDX. Failure to follow this warning may cause an electric
shock.
Attention to Handling or Maintenance
Do not disassemble, repair, or alter the Built-in RDX.
Never attempt to disassemble, repair, or alter the Built-in RDX
on any occasion other than described in this User’s Guide.
Failure
to follow this instruction may cause an electric shock or a fire
as well as malfunctions of the Built-in RDX.
Insert the cables into the connectors as far as it goes.

Attention to Operation
Do not insert your hands into the cartridge load
compartment.
Do not insert your hands into the cartridge load compartment.
Otherwise, the fingers will be caught/pinched by the Built-in
RDX to cause an injury.
Do not touch the Built-in RDX when it thunders.
If it starts thundering, do not touch any part of the Built-in RDX.
Failure to follow this warning may cause an electric shock or a
fire.
Keep away pets.
Keep away pets from the Built-in RDX. Insertion their hair or
excrements may cause a fire or an electric shock.

Do not use the equipment in the place where corrosive gases
exist.
Make sure not to locate or use the server in the place where
corrosive gases (sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen dioxide,
chlorine, ammonia, ozone, etc) exist.
Also, do not set it in the environment where the air (or dust) includes
components accelerating corrosion (ex. sulfur, sodium chloride) or
conductive metals. There is a risk of a fire due to corrosion and
shorts of an internal printed board.
High temperature
Immediately after the server is powered off, its internal components
such as hard disks are very hot. Leave the server until its
internal components fully cool down before installing/removing
any component.

3. Mounting on the Server
The procedure for installing the drive in a server
is as follows.
(1) Install the Built-in RDX as shown here.
(2) Connect the 10-pin connector of INT USB interface
cable to the USB connector on mother board.
Connect the 4-pin connector of branched cable to
the FDD connector, and the USB connector on the
other end to the USB connector of Built-in RDX (USB).
(3) Connect the DC power attached with the Built-in RDX,
and USB cables which is specified, to the server as
shown in the figure below. Refer to the User’s Guide of
the server for USB cables.
Connect the DC power and USB cables in the order.
2. Change procedure to 3.5-in device
When you want to use the Built-in RDX as a 3.5-in device, you need to remove the left and right brackets.
To Remove the Brackets
Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws, and then the brackets.
To operate the Built-In RDX correctly, observe the following points.(1)
・If you cannot success in processing because of this product is working (ex. When instaulling OS)
please set this device to "dormancy mode."
Dormancy mode setting method
1. Shut down the system.
2. Turn on the power of the server with the eject button pushed. It becomes a dormancy mode
by keeping pushing the eject button for about three seconds. The power LED blinks with
umber indicates the dormancy mode.
Dormancy mode release method
1. Shut down the system.
2. Turn on the power of the server with the eject button pushed. It becomes a dormancy mode
by keeping pushing the eject button for about three seconds. The power LED with green
indicates the normal mode.
・Please remove the RDX cartridge before server starts when start various tools (Maintenance
Utility etc.) from "TOOL MENU" of EXPRESSBUILDER. And also remove the RDX cartridge
before server starts
when use FD made from "BIOS/FW Updating“and "ROM-DOS Startup FD" of "TOOL MENU".
・Please refer to the user's guide for the notes of the backup.
・When using the rails with the Built-In RDX, use the screw
holes in the front cover illustrated in Fig. 1 (see Fig. 2).
(Perform the same operation on the opposite side. Secure
two screws on each side, four screws total.)
In some cases, the rails may extend all the way to the front
cover molding. This causes no problems.
When using the rails, adjust their mounting positions
so that the front cover of the Built-In RDX is aligned with
the front covers of other standard components such as the
DVD drive
Fig. 3). (The shape of the rails varies according to the model
of the server.) For some servers, the covers are not aligned
with each other. However, this does not cause any problem
to occur.
・For some servers, front side of the RDX cartridges may
interfere with the front cover of the server at the time of
ejecting cartridge. If the mounting position can be adjusted
with a server rail, please slide into the inside and mount the device to avoid contact. If
the mounting position can not be adjusted with a server rail, please adjust a position
in the bracket adjustable screw on the right and left side of the device .
・Please adjust to move this product forward by about 3mm when mounting on
Express5800/140Rf.
・The screws needed with the 5.25-in and 3.5-in devices are the same.
・Always use the screws that are provided with the Built-In RDX. The screws that are
provided with the Built-In RDX are metric screws (length: 3.0 mm). Using screws that
are longer than the screws that are provided with the Built-In RDX could result in
damage to the Built-In RDX.
However, use the screws provided with the server if specified. Also, you may be
required to use screws coming with the server. Refer to the User's Guide of the server.
To operate the Built-In RDX correctly, observe the following points.(2)
・This product is a removable disk drive. Please use it for the data backup.
・Data cartridges are consumables. Do not continue to use any cartridge in which an error occurs
and replace it with a new one.
・This product is displayed as a removable disk on Windows. the device name :It is displayed as
" TANDBERG RDX".
・If a data cartridge is subject to a shock, save the data in the cartridge as soon as possible and
replace it with a new one.
・Use data cartridges authorized by NEC for the Built-In RDX.
・When storing data cartridges for an extended period of time, data should be read periodically
in order to ensure that restoration from backup data is possible at all times.
(4)After connecting the USB cable, bundle the cable so that it does not
interfere with the other devices or fan.
(5) Attach the front cover to the server. Plug the
power cable to the outlet.
(6) Turn on the server.
Some servers require the rails to be used. For details on
how to install the rails, refer to the server's operating
manual.

Verify the packed contents with the part list given below and ensure that all the components and parts
are present. Also, check that each item is undamaged. If a component or part is missing or damaged,
contact your dealer.
Make sure that you store the brackets and screws in a safe place. Only use
these screws when installing the brackets. They are metric screws (length: 5.0 mm).
Using longer screws could result in damage to the device.

FDD connector in a vacant place in the server.
