箱を開けてから本製品が使えるようになるまでの手順を説明
します。
このスタートアップガイドにしたがって作業してください。

安全にかかわる表示について
本書にはどこが危険か、どのような危険に遭うのか、どうすれば危険を避けられるかなどについて説明されています。
本書では危険の程度を表す言葉として、「警告」と「注意」という用語を使用しています。それぞれの用語は次のような意味を持つものと
して定義されます。
人が死亡する、または重傷を負うおそれがあることを示します。
火傷やけがなどを負うおそれや物的損害を負うおそれがあることを示します。
危険に対する注意・表示は次の 3 種類の記号を使って表しています。それぞれの記号は次のような意味を持つものとして定義されて
います。
注意の喚起 この記号は、危険が発生するおそれがあることを表します。記号の中の絵表示は
危険の内容を図案化したものです。
(感電注意)
行為の禁止 この記号は行為の禁止を表します。記号の中や近くの絵表示は、してはならない
行為の内容を図案化したものです。
(分解禁止)
行為の強制 この記号は行為の強制を表します。記号の中の絵表示は、しなければならない行為
の内容を図案化したものです。危険を避けるためにはこの行為が必要です。

電源がON のまま取り付け・取り外しをしない
本体装置への取り付け・取り外しの際や、周辺機器との接続の際は必ず主電源に接続している電源コードを AC コンセントから抜
いて ください。電源コードが AC コンセントに接続されたまま取り付け・取り外しや接続をすると感電をするおそれがあります。
本書および警告レベルで使用する記号とその内容
注意の喚起
感電のおそれがあることを示します。 発煙または発火のおそれがあることを示します。

安全上のご注意
全般的な注意事項
人命に関わる業務や高度な信頼性を必要とする業務には使用しない
本製品は、医療機器・原子力設備や機器、航空宇宙機器・輸送設備や機器
など、人命に関わる設備や機器および高度な信頼性を必要とする設備や機器
などへの組み込みやこれらの機器の制御を目的とした使用は意図されておりま
せん。
これらの設備や機器、制御システムなどに本製品を使用した結果、人身事故、
財産被害などが生じても弊社はいかなる責任も負いかねます。
煙や異臭、異音がしたまま使用しない
万一、煙、異臭、異音などが生じた場合は、ただちに本体装置の電源を OFF に
して電源プラグを AC コンセントから抜き、本製品の DC ケーブルを抜いてくださ
い。その後、お買い求めの販売店または保守サービス会社にご連絡ください。
そのまま使用すると火災の原因となります。
針金や金属片を差し込まない
通気孔やカートリッジ挿入口から金属片や針金などの異物を差し込まないで
ください。感電の危険があります。
製品内に水や異物を入れない
製品内に水などの液体、ピンやクリップなどの異物を入れないでください。火災
や感電、故障の原因となります。もし入ってしまったときは、すぐに本体装置の
電源を OFF にして電源プラグを AC コンセントから抜き、本製品の DC ケーブル
を抜いてください。分解しないでお買い求めの販売店または保守サービス会社に
ご連絡ください。
設置・移動・保管・接続に関する注意事項
通気孔をふさがない
本製品の前面にある通気孔をふさがないでください。内部の温度が上昇し、
誤動作の原因となるばかりでなく、火災や感電の原因となります。
電源プラグを抜かずにインターフェースケーブルの取り付けや取り外しをしない
インターフェースケーブルの取り付け／取り外しは本体装置の電源プラグを
コンセントから抜いて行ってください。たとえ電源を OFF にしても電源コードを
接続したままケーブルやコネクタに触ると感電したり、ショートによる火災を
起こしたりすることがあります。
指定以外のインターフェースケーブルを使用しない
インターフェースケーブルは、NEC が指定するものを使用し、接続する製品
やコネクタを確認した上で接続してください。指定以外のケーブルを使用
したり、接続先を誤ったりすると、ショートにより火災を起こすことが
あります。
また、インターフェースケーブルの取り扱いや接続について次の注意を
お守りください。
■ ケーブルを踏まない。 ■ ケーブルの上にものを載せない。
■ ケーブルの接続がゆるんだまま使用しない。
■ 破損したケーブルを使用しない。
■ 破損したケーブルコネクタを使用しない。
腐食性ガスの存在する環境で使用または保管しない
腐食性ガス(二酸化硫黄、硫化水素、二酸化窒素、塩素、アンモニア、オゾン
など)の存在する環境に設置し、使用しないでください。
また、ほこりや空気中に腐食を促進する成分(塩化ナトリウムや硫黄など)や
導電性の金属などが含まれている環境へも配置しないでください。装置内部の
プリント基板が腐食し、故障および発煙・発火の原因となるおそれがあります。
もし、ご使用の環境で上記の疑いがある場合には、お買い求めの販売店または
保守サービス会社にご相談ください。
高温注意
本体装置の電源を OFF にした直後は、内蔵型のハードディスクドライブなどを
はじめ装置内の部品が高温になっています。十分に冷めたことを確認してから
取り付け/取り外しを行ってください。
運用中の注意事項
カートリッジ挿入口に手を入れない
カートリッジ挿入口に手を入れないでください。手を挟まれたり、巻き込まれたり
してけがをするおそれがあります。
雷がなったら触らない
雷が鳴りだしたら、ケーブル類も含めて本製品には触れないでください。また、
機器の接続や取り外しも行わないでください。落雷による感電のおそれが
あります。
ペットを近づけない
本製品にペットなどの生き物を近づけないでください。排泄物や体毛が製品内部
に入って火災や感電の原因となります。
電源・電源コードに関する注意事項
ぬれた手で電源プラグに触らない
ぬれた手で電源プラグの抜き差しをしないでください。感電をするおそれが
あります。
電源が ON のまま取り付け・取り外しをしない
本体装置への取り付け・取り外しの際や、周辺機器との接続の際は必ず主電源
に接続している電源プラグを AC コンセントから抜いてください。電源プラグが AC
コンセントに接続されたまま取り付け・取り外しや接続をすると感電したりショート
による火災を起こすおそれがあります。
中途半端に差し込まない
DC ケーブルはしっかりと差し込んでください。中途半端に差し込むと接触不良の
ため発熱し、火災の原因となることがあります。また差し込み部にほこりが
たまり、水滴などが付くと発熱し、火災の原因となるおそれがあります。
指定以外の接続をしない
DC ケーブルの接続や配線は本書の説明に従って正しく行ってください。指定
以外の接続や配線は火災や感電の原因となるおそれがあります。
破損したケーブルを使用しない
ケーブルを接続する前にコネクタが破損していたり、コネクタピンが曲がって
いたり、汚れたりしていないことを確認してください。破損や曲がっているコネクタ
および汚れたコネクタを使用するとショートにより火災を引き起こすおそれが
あります。
指定以外のケーブルを使用しない
本体装置と接続するケーブルは弊社指定のものを使用し、接続先をよく確認して
ください。指定以外のケーブルを使用したり、指示とは異なる接続のまま使用
したりすると火災を引き起こすおそれがあります。
お手入れに関する注意事項
自分で分解・修理・改造はしない
本製品の分解や、修理・改造は絶対にしないでください。製品が正常に動作
しなくなるばかりでなく、感電や火災の危険があります。
電源プラグを差し込んだまま取り扱わない
お手入れは、本体装置の電源を OFF にして、電源プラグを AC コンセントから
抜き、本製品の DC ケーブルを抜いてください。たとえ電源を OFF にしても、電源
プラグを接続したまま製品内の部品に触ると感電したりショートによる火災を
起こすおそれがあります。
中途半端に取り付けない
DC ケーブルやインターフェースケーブルは確実に取り付けてください。中途半端
に取り付けると接触不良を起こし、発煙や発火の原因となるおそれがあります。
この製品は、GPL および/または LGPL に準拠するコードを含んで

３. 本体装置への取り付け
本体装置機器等への設置方法例を以下に示します。
本製品を取り付ける前に、取り付ける装置の電源を OFF にして、電源コードと背面に接続しているすべてのインターフェースケーブルを
取り外してください。
・デバイス増設ユニット(N8141-69)へ実装する場合は、デバイス増設ユニット側のユーザーズガイドも参照
してください。
・本体装置によっては、本製品に添付のブラケットや、本体装置のレールを使用するものもあります。
設置方法については、本体装置の取扱説明書も参照してください。
・本製品に添付のブラケットの使用の有無については、本体装置の取扱説明書を参照してください。
・レールおよびブラケットは、本製品に添付されているネジを使って固定してください。
・本製品に添付のネジは、ミリネジ（長さ 4mm ,ネジ頭より下の長さ 3.5mm）です。添付
のネジより
長いものを使用すると装置内部の機構を破損し、故障の原因となることがあります。
(1) 本体装置添付のレールまたは本製品添付のブラケットを取り付ける場合は下図 A のように取り付けます。レールやブラケットの取付
の有無および取り付け方法については、本体装置の取扱説明書を参照してください。
デバイス増設ユニット(N8141-69)へ実装する場合は、デバイス増設ユニットに取り付けられているブラケットを下図 Bのように
取り
付けます。デバイス増設ユニットの取扱説明書を参照してください。
(2) 本体装置に取り付けます。取り付け方法は本体装置やデバイス増設ユニットの取扱説明書を参照してください。
(3) 下図のように装置に SAS ケーブルと DC ケーブル(システム側)を接続してください。

(4) SAS ケーブル接続後、ケーブルはファンや他の機器に干渉しないよう束ねてください。
(5) 本体装置にカバーを取り付けて、電源コードをコンセントに接続する。
(6) 本体装置の電源を ON にする。

４. カートリッジの挿入
(1) 本製品の LED が点滅していないことを確認してください。
(2) データカートリッジのプロテクトスイッチが正しくセットされていることを確認して
ください。
(3) ライトプロテクトスイッチが手前に向くように、データカートリッジを持ってください。
(4) カートリッジ挿入口にデータカートリッジをゆっくりと挿入してください。
途中まで挿入すると自動的にカートリッジを引き込みます。
データカートリッジを挿入した状態でライトプロテクトスイッチの
設定を変更しないでください。データカートリッジを挿入したまま、
設定を変更するとエラーの原因となるおそれがあります。
イジェクトボタンで排出したカートリッジをそのままドライブに押し
込んでも引き込まれません。再度挿入したい場合には、データカ
ートリッジをいったん取り出してからもう一度挿入してください。
５. カートリッジの取り出し
(1) LED が点滅していないことを確認してください。
(2) イジェクトボタンを押すと、テープの巻き戻しが始まります。
（巻き戻しに数分かかる場合があります）
(3) データカートリッジの一部が排出されたら、データカートリッジを引き出して
取り出してください。

General Attention

aerospace instruments, and transportation equipment. The
manufacturer does not assume any liability for accidents resulting in
injury or death, or for any damages to property that may occur as a result
of using this device in such facilities, equipment, or control systems.
Do not use the Internal LTO if any smoke, odor, or noise is present.
If smoke, odor, or noise is present, immediately turn off the POWER
switch and disconnect the power plug from the outlet, then contact your

the Internal LTO in such conditions ma

cause a fire.
Keep needles or metal objects away from the Internal LTO.
Do not insert needles or metal objects into ventilation holes in the
Internal LTO. Failure to follow this warning may cause an electric shock.
Keep water or foreign matter away from the Internal LTO.
Do not let any kind of liquid (water etc.) or foreign matter (e.g., pins or
paper clips) enter the Internal LTO. Failure to follow this warning may
cause an electric shock, a fire, or a failure of the Internal LTO. When
such things accidentally enter the Internal LTO, immediately turn off the
power and disconnect the power plug from the outlet. Do not
disassemble the Internal LTO. Contact your sales agent.
Attention to Installing, Moving, Storing, Connection
Do not close the ventilation hole.
Do not close the ventilation hole in the front side of the Internal LTO.
Otherwise, Its internal temperature will rise to cause malfunctions or a
fire.
Do not connect/disconnect the interface cables before unplugging
the power plug.
Before connecting/disconnecting the interface cables, disconnect the
power plug of the main power unit from the outlet. If the power is off but
the power plug is still connected, you may get an electric shock.
Do not use the unspecified interface cables.
Use only the cable authorized by NEC and locate the device and
connector before connection. Use of an unauthorized cable or displaced
connection may cause a short circuit, resulting in a fire.
When handling or connecting the interface cables, keep the notes as
follows:
■ Do not tread on cables.
■ Do not load on the cable.
■ Insert the cable connector as far as it goes.
■ Do not use damaged cables.
■ Do not use damaged connectors.
Do not use the equipment in the place where corrosive gases exist.
Do not use Built- In LTO Auto Loader, installing in the environment
where corrosive gas (sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen dioxide,
chlorine, ammonia, ozone, etc.) exists.
In addition, do not set it up in the environment including the element
(sodium chloride and sulfur, etc.) that promotes corrosion in dust and
air, and the electro-conductive metal etc. The print plate in the device
corrodes, and it might cause the breakdown and smoking and the
ignition.
When there is the above-mentioned doubt in the environment of use,
please consult with a store or a maintenance service compan
y
.
Avoid installation in extreme temperature condition.
Immediately after the power supply of the server is turned off,
components in the server including the internal hard disk drive or others
are hot. Please install/detach the device after confirming it is cold
enough.
Attention to Operation
Do not insert your hands into the cartridge load compartment.
Do not insert your hands into the cartridge load compartment.
Otherwise, the fingers will be caught/pinched by the Internal LTO to
cause an injury.
Do not touch the Internal LTO when it thunders.
If it starts thundering, do not touch any part of the Internal LTO. Failure
to follow this warning may cause an electric shock or a fire.
Keep away pets.
Keep away pets from the Internal LTO. Insertion their hair or excrements
may cause a fire or an electric shock.
Attention to Power or Power Cord
Do not hold the DC cable with a wet hand.
Do not disconnect/connect the cable while your hands are wet. Failure
to follow this warning may cause an electric shock.
Do not install the device while the power is turned on.
Unplug the AC power cord from the main power source when
installing/uninstalling the device to/from server or connect it with the
enclosure. Failure to follow this warning may cause an electric shock.
Insert the DC cable into the outlet as far as it goes.
Heat generation resulting from a halfway inserted DC cable (imperfect
contact) may cause a fire. Heat will also be generated if condensation
is formed on dusty blades of the halfway inserted cable, increasing the
possibility of a fire.
Do not connect the Internal LTO by unspecified cabling.
Connecting or cabling with DC cable should be done in accordance with
the procedure specified in the User's Guide.
Unspecified connecting or cabling may cause an electric shock or a fire.
Do not use any damaged power cord.
If the power cord is damaged, immediately replace it with a new part of
same type. Do not repair the damaged section for reuse. Otherwise, the
section repaired with vinyl tape or the like will be overheated to cause
an electric shock or a fire.
Use the authorized cable only.
Use only the specified cable when connecting the Internal LTO with a
server. Use of an unspecified cable or connection by unspecified cabling
ma

cause a fire.
Attention to Handling or Maintenance
Do not disassemble, repair, or alter the Internal LTO.
Never attempt to disassemble, repair, or alter the Internal LTO
on any occasion other than described in this User’s Guide. Failure to
follow this instruction may cause an electric shock or a fire as well as
malfunctions of the Internal LTO.
Do not handle while the power plug is connected.
Before handling or cleaning the Internal LTO, disconnect the power plug
of the main power unit from the outlet. If the power is off but the power
plug is still connected, you may get an electric shock or may cause a
fire by short-circuit.
Insert the cables into the connectors as far as it goes.
Heat generation resulting from a halfway inserted cables or Interface
cables (imperfect contact) may cause a fire. Heat will also be generated
if condensation is formed on dusty blades of the halfway inserted cable,
increasing the possibility of a fire.

3. Mounting on the Server
The procedure for installing the drive in a server is as follows.
To install in device expansion unit (N8141-69F), refer to the device expansion unit’s user’s manual.
Some servers require bracket or other latching rails to be used. For details on how to install these parts, refer to the
server's operating manual.
Please use the correct latching rails which are attached with the system, and use the screws
attached to the Internal LTO for server’s latching rails.
Use the screws attached to the server for bracket.
The attached screws are metric screws (4.0 mm length, 3.5 mm under its washer).
Using a longer screw than them may cause damage to the Internal LTO internally and
malfunction may occur.
(1) Attach the bracket or latching rail as shown in the figure A.
The presence or absence of latching rail attaching, refer to the server's operating manual.
To install in the device expansion unit (N8141-69), see figure B to attach the bracket of its accessary.
(2) Install the Internal LTO into the server.
(3) Connect the SAS cable and DC cable to the drive as shown in the figure below.

(4) After connecting the SAS cable, bundle the cables so that it does not interfere with the other devices or fan.
(5) Attach the cover to the server. Plug the power cable to the outlet.
(6) Turn on the server.

The Drive LED provides information about error of the hardware of the drive.

The LED provides information about the state of the drive with light.

Press this button when ejecting a cartridge.
⑧Ventilator
The ventilator cools and ventilates inside of the device.

5. Setting the Data Cartridge
(1) Ensure the drive LED goes on.
(2) Confirm that the Write Protect Switch is correctly set.
(3) Insert the data cartridge into the data cartridge slot slowly. When the cartridge is
inserted at the middle, it is automatically installed into the right position.
Do not change the position for the write protect switch during
the drive is installed into the drive. It may cause the error if the
position is changed with installation.
When the data cartridge is need to be re-installed at the eject
position, once the cartridge is removed from the drive, then,
once again, re-installation will be done
6. Ejecting the Data Cartridge
(1) Confirm that the power for the Internal LTO is on.
(2) Press the eject button. The drive rewinds the tape and partially ejects the cartridge.
The eject cycle will take a few minute.
(3) After the cartridge partially ejects, grasp the cartridge and remove it.
