Remove printer from box. Lift from box with two people.
Remove feeder from box and set aside.

Step 1: Printer Setup
Plug in the power cord to the back of the printer and directly to a wall outlet.

Set up the printer on a sturdy table with plenty of room for fanfold media.
Plug in network or USB to the back of the printer.
Open printer side door B. Unpack starter toner and place in printer. Close printer door.

Step 2: Feeder Setup
Place the Continuous Feeder Attachment onto the front of the printer. It slides on to the
mounting bar on the printer tray. Make sure it attaches squarely to the printer.
Attach the feeder round “barrel” connector to the round connector at the back
of the printer just above the printer’s power port.

Printer power must be OFF when attaching or removing continuous feeder attachment.

NOTE: The Feeder is powered by the printer.

Turn on the printer and feeder
Press the power button near the printer operator panel. The printer and the attached
feeder will boot up. This will take about one minute.
•The printer operator panel displays the NeuraLabel logo and then the home screen.
•The feeder LED flashes its version number.
•The feeder executes a boot up diagnostic sequence which exercises all the motors.
•The feeder LED turns white if configured for marks or green if configured for gaps.
The printer is powered OFF by pressing the power button for at least 5 seconds.
Keep the printer ON for the next steps.
Step 3: Power up the System
NOTE: Fanfold media uses marks. There is a switch at the bottom of the CFA that sets it to marks
or gaps. Check this switch if needed.

Step 4: Load Media
Printer must be powered ON during this step.
Place fanfold media stack near the printer such that black marks are face up and larger
registration mark is on the left side.

Check to make sure the media is loaded in straight and flat.

Load the leading edge of media into the feeder. Push media in until the feeder
automatically loads it.
Media should be far enough away from the feeder so
that it easily unfolds.
Media may be place on a surface lower than the
printer, such as a table or even the floor.

Step 5: Print and Calibrate
Send a sample print job.
•Make sure the printed form matches your media size.
•Initial Job is about 20 labels for auto-calibration.
As media exits the printer, it will self fold at the printer exit. (Letter and Legal size.)

Stacking area is clear
The 550e auto-calibrates; that is, it fits the form to a specific media. It must be given
an initial label run for the procedure to correctly take place.
