Configuring Your Applications To Use Easy Wi-Fi
Applications on your Nokia p one t at require an Internet connection can be

you w ic access point to use w en it needs to open an Internet connection. If you
select t e Easy Wi-Fi access point as described above, t en Easy Wi-Fi will
automatically connect your application using t e best available Wi-Fi network. T e
Easy Wi-Fi access point will only appear if a suitable Wi-Fi network is in range.
A second approac is to configure your applications to always use a specific access
point. Generally, t is is done in eac application’s Settings menu. For example, in
t e web browser, you can do t is by going to Options -> Settings -> General ->
Access point screen (your p one may be slig tly different). In t is screen select
User defined and click OK. On t e next screen select t e Easy Wi-Fi access point
and click OK:
Wit t is configuration your p one’s web browser will always use Easy Wi-Fi to
automatically connect using t e best available Wi-Fi network if one is in range.
Ot er applications can be similarly configured to always use Easy Wi-Fi.

Limitations
Hidden SSIDs
Wi-Fi networks wit idden SSIDs (i.e., t e network name is not broadcast) cannot

idden SSID network as a new access point by going to Tools -> Settings ->

CA certificates
In order to en ance your security at public otspots, Easy Wi-Fi makes sure a
otspot is aut entic before automatically logging you in. T is prevents you from
being connected to p ony otspots t at ave been setup to steal your username,
password and ot er personal data.
In order to c eck t e aut enticity of a otspot, Easy Wi-Fi examines a digital
certificate supplied by t e otspot and compares it wit a list of trusted certificate
aut ority (CA) certificates. Your p one, owever, may only ave a limited set of
trusted CA certificates. If your p one does not ave a required CA certificate, t en
you will be prompted to accept t e unknown certificate from t e otspot during t e
login process. T is may reduce your ability to safely use a wide variety of public
otspots.
In order to improve your security you can download and install a larger collection of
trusted CA certificates from www.devicescape.com/certs.
