How to use your Loan Phone
If you’ve been given a Nokia loan phone, here’s how to use it once you get to your
destination.
How to select a network
Once you arrive at your destination and switch on your loan phone, you’ll need to
select a local network to roam on.
To do this, simply:
1. Press Menu.
2. Scroll to Settings and Select.
3. Scroll to Phone and Select.
4. Scroll to Operator Selection and Select.
5. Scroll to Manual and Select. This will display Searching and then will come
up with a list of available networks.
6. Scroll through the list of network providers.
7. Choose a carrier and press Select.
If this doesn’t work the first time, you’ll need to repeat the process and select
another network provider from the list.
How to make a call
To make a local or national call in the country you are in, simply dial the area code
and the phone number then press the Call key.
How to make an international call
1. Press the * key twice until the + character appears.
2. Enter the country code for the country you want to call (e.g. 64 for NZ).
3. Then enter the area code minus the initial zero.
4. Enter the local number.
5. Press the Call key.
For example, to call the International Roaming Helpdesk press the * key twice until
the + character appears then enter 64 3 371 0866 (it would appear like this on the
screen +6433710866) and then press the Call key.
How to retrieve your Voicemail Messages
1. Press the * key twice until the + character appears.
2. Then dial 64 83 083210.
3. Enter your mailbox number (this is your mobile number minus the initial 0).
4. Enter your PIN (see Before you go for details).
5. Enter # - this will take you to the main menu.
NOTE: You’ll be charged for an international call back to New Zealand when you
check your voicemail while roaming.
How to send a text message
1. Select Menu, then Messaging and Create Message.
2. Select Text Message.
3. Enter the text you would like to send.
4. Select Send.
5. Scroll to phone number and select.
6. Enter the mobile number and select OK.
Remember if you are sending an international text other than to New Zealand it will
need to be in international format e.g. to France +33 6 123 4567.
NOTE: Texts sent while roaming should be limited to 125 characters or else they will
be split and sent as two texts. If this occurs you will be charged for each text.
