General Safety Warning
Please ensure these instructions are fully read and
followed. Failure to do so may result in injury to
the user. Retain these instructions in a safe place
for future reference.
Intended Use
The 2 in 1 Bed Rail provides a stable support to help
clients move themselves to a sitting position and assist
them getting in and out of bed. This device is suitable
for both divan (except sprung base) and most slatted
domestic beds and is suitable for all bed sizes from
single to king-size.
Unpacking
Remove all parts from packaging, Check all parts are
present. Check for damage. If you see, or suspect a
fault, do not use the product and contact your supplier.
Safety Precautions
·This product complies with MHRA Guidance - Safe
Use of Bedrails DB2006/06 for Adults and Children
·It is not designed for use with profiling beds.
·Please ensure the user does not exceed the
maximum user weight 160kg (25 stones).
·Always use the Securing Straps provided when
fitting to a divan bed
·Regularly check the straps are tight and the device
is stable and firmly fitted.
User Instructions
Positioning the 2in1 Bed Rail
The position of the device (which should ideally be
based on a clinical assessment) should be such that
when placed under the mattress with the handle
fitted, the client (from a lying position) should be able
to reach the handle without stretching.
Important safety note: There must be a gap of less
than 60 or greater than 318mm from the headboard
to the Bed Rail, and the mattress should rest against
the handle of the grab rail when fitted to reduce the
risk of head/limb entrapment.
Installation Instructions –Divan Bed
1. Remove the mattress and place the plastic base
onto the divan base in the desired position.
Ensure that the handle bracket is positioned
downwards (see Diag.1)
2. Take first strap. Place the female buckle through
one of the triangular outer strapping points (A)
pull through and tie a secure knot. The buckle
should drop down the side of the bed around 2-
3”. (Diag.1)
3. Feed the strap under the plastic base and up
through the rear triangular slot and secure with a
knot at point (B). The strap should be tight under
the plastic base, and the base should not slide on
the strap, return strap underneath the divan base.
4. Clip the two ends of the strap together and then
pull down the strap to tighten, as appropriate, to
securely fasten. Tuck loose ends of the strapping
under the bed to prevent tripping.
5. Repeat for second strap, fitting to the other side
of the base as shown in Diag. 2
6. Place the metal handrail into the base, with the
handrail angled away from the user and clip the
into place with the two e-clips supplied (Diag.1)
7. Replace the mattress. Check that rail is stable
and secure.

Removing the handle for changing the bed
The handle may be removed to make it easier to
change the bed. Simply remove the two e-clips and
remove the handle. To replace, reposition handle
and replace the e-clips. Ensure that the handle is
placed back in the correct position with the handle
pointing towards the bottom of the bed.
Care & Maintenance
·Check regularly for signs of wear or damage.
·Remove from use immediately if there are signs
of wear, damage or the handle is excessively
loose.
·Check that all fixing straps are tight and the bed
rail is correctly positioned
·Check there is no gap between the rail handle
and the mattress
·Check both fixing clips are fitted correctly and
secure.
Cleaning
Suitable to withstand industrial cleaning up to 80◦C
or wipe clean with a soft cloth, moistened with
disinfectant solution.

Installation Instructions

Slatted Bed
The following method may only be used on slatted
beds with fixed slats and not on those where the slats
are not individually secured to the bed frame. The
device may still be used on these slatted beds, but not
secured by the straps. If available, a non-slip sheet
may be used around the base in this instance to help
prevent movement during use.
It is recommended where possible to use straps to
maintain the bedrail’s position.
Check regularly to ensure the bedrail is secure and
positioned correctly.
1. Remove the mattress and place the plastic base
inside the wooden bed frame. Ensure that the
handle bracket is positioned upwards (see Diag.3)
2. Place the metal handrail into the handle bracket,
ensuring that the angle of the handle is pointing
towards the bottom of the bed (see Diag.6) Clip
the handrail into place with two e-clips (supplied).
3. Thread one end (with female buckle) of the
adjustable fixing strap up through the strapping
point at the furthest point from the bottom of the
bed as shown in Diag.3
4. Feed the remainder of the fixing strap through the
2 in 1 Bed Rail base and then around the slats as
shown in the diagram 4. Clip the two ends of the
strap together (Diag.5) and then tighten as
appropriate to securely fasten. Tuck away loose
ends of the strapping to prevent tripping.
5. Repeat for the second strap.(Diag.6)
6. Replace the mattress, shaping the mattress
around the plastic base. Check that rail is stable
and secure.
