Folding Easy Fit Bed Rail

Intended Use
The Folding Easy Fit Bed Rail provides a
stable support to help clients move
themselves to a sitting position and assist
them getting in and out of bed. This device is
suitable for both divan and slatted domestic
beds and is suitable for all bed sizes from
single to king-size.
Safety Precautions
•This device is suitable for adult use only.
•It is not suitable for use with young
children.
•It is not designed for use with profiling
beds.
•Please ensure the user does not exceed
the maximum user weight:
127kg (20 stones)
•Ensure the mattress is resting firmly
against the bed rail handle
Important safety note: There must be a gap
of at least 250mm from the headboard to the
Bed Rail Handle, and the mattress should
rest against the handle of the rail when fitted
to reduce the risk of head/limb entrapment.
General Safety Warning
Please ensure these instructions are fully
read and understood before installation/ use.

Installation
The position of the Bed Rail (which should
ideally be based on a clinical assessment)
should be such that when placed under the
mattress with the handle fitted, the client
(from a lying position) should be able to reach
the handle without stretching.
It is intended that the handle should be
positioned so that it angles away from the
bed head as shown in Diagram 1.

Assembly
•Unscrew the two knobs (A), as shown in
Diagram 3 and remove the bolts (C) and
square location spacers (B).
•Rotate the white handle to the desired side,
depending on whether it is on the right or
left hand side of the bed, as shown in
Diagram 2.
•Replace the bolts and spacers and tighten
the assembly with the knobs, such that the
knobs are fitted on the inside of the frame,
see Diagram 2.
•Insert bed rail fully under mattress, with
angle pointing away from bed head and
positioned so that the client can reach
without stretching, as previously described.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
If the Bed Rail is to be used for transfers onto a
divan bed, for example from a wheelchair, it is
recommended that two bed rail straps, looped
around the frame and divan base are used to
provide extra security.
The strap part number is, L75930 and can be
ordered from NRS Customer services – details
shown below.
Care & Maintenance
•Inspect at regular intervals for wear and
damage.
•Remove from use immediately if there are
signs of wear, damage or the handle is
excessively loose.
•Check there is no gap between the rail
handle and the mattress
•Inspect regularly to ensure the Hand Nuts
(A) are fully tightened
•If a bed rail strap has been fitted for extra
security check regularly that it is tight and
the rail is correctly positioned
Cleaning Instructions
Clean regularly, use a general purpose, neutral
detergent and warm water. Do not use an
abrasive detergent, cleaner or cloth to clean or
dry this product.
To disinfect; wipe with a mild chloride
disinfectant (solution of 1000 parts per million).
This product is also suitable for industrial
cleaning up to 80ºC
After cleaning ensure the product is dried
thoroughly.
