Intended use
Waterfall Spillway with Filtration 16 in., referred to in the following as “unit”, may only be used as specied in the following:
• Operation under observance of the technical data.
The following restrictions apply to the unit:
• Do not use in swimming pools or hot tubs.
• Never use the unit to convey uids other than water.
• Never run the unit without water.
• Do not use for commercial or industrial purposes.
• Do not use in conjunction with chemicals, food products, easily ammable or explosive substances.
• Do not connect to the domestic water supply.
Use other than that intended
This unit can be dangerous and cause harm if not used in accordance with these instructions. Any use not in accordance
with these instructions or modication(s) to the unit will void the limited warranty.

Important:
●When choosing a location for your waterfall spillway, keep in mind the spillway can be mounted to the liner to avoid
water loss. For example, the spillway should be mounted to a liner if it is placed at the beginning of a stream.
Assembling the Spillway with Filtration
1. For maximum water ow, it is recommended that the
largest tubing size for your pump is used.
○ If needed, cut the adapter as shown using a hacksaw;
consult packaging for tubing size.
2. Assemble coupler, gasket, and adapter to spillway.
●Select a level location to place the waterfall spillway.
3. Begin by building a base with the desired waterfall height.
4. Place the spillway onto the base.
NOTE: It is very important that the spillway is level, so be
sure to check that the structure is level from front to back
as well as left to right.

For installation outside the liner
●After completing the section “Assembling the Spillway
with Filtration”
1. Connect tubing to the outlet adapter, then use a hose
clamp hold it tight.
○ Connect the other side of the tubing to the pump,
and use a hose clamp hold it tight too. Place the pump
in the pond.
NOTE: Tubing, hose clams and pump are not included.
2. Put the bio-media balls inside spillway.
NOTE: The bio-media can stay inside the bags.
3. Place the lter pad over bio-media ball bags and spillway.
4. Slide 2 clips on the cover, then snap them to the spillway.
5. Continue building the rest of the structure. Carefully
cover the waterfall spillway and tubing with natural
material for a professional look.
NOTE: Design the structure to t the tubing through the
back without any kinks.

For mounting to the liner (liner not included)
●After completing the section “Assembling the Spillway
with Filtration”
1. Make sure there is enough liner to line the front of the
spillway without wrinkling or pulling.
●Carefully clean and rinse the liner inside and out with
water, then dry it with paper towels or a clean cloth.
The surface to be sealed must be clean and dry for the
sealer to bond properly.
2. Mark the liner with the shape of the spillway. A white or
yellow marker works well to do this.
Notes: White or yellow marker is NOT INCLUDED.
3. Carefully cut and remove the section of liner in the
spillway opening.
4. Apply a continuous 1/4” bead of sealer around the ange
of spillway.
○ Make sure there are no spaces or voids in the bead
between the holes and the edge of the cut-out on the
ange of the spillway.
Notes: Sealer is NOT INCLUDED.
5. Align the liner on the ange of spillway. Make sure the
liner sits at on the ange without wrinkling or pulling.

6. Insert 2 temporary nails into the top corner hole of the
ange. Then hold the nails in place with your hand,
and push each nail through the liner.
Notes: Temporary nails are NOT INCLUDED.
7. Assemble the anchoring ange onto the spillway ange
to securely seal the liner to the spillway.
○ Carefullly install the screws, then remove the
temporary nails and attach the last two screws.
○ Tighten all of the screws.
8. Connect tubing to the outlet adapter, then use a hose
clamp hold it tight.
○ Connect the other side of the tubing to the pump, and use
a hose clamp hold it tight too.
NOTE: Tubing, hose clamps and pump are not included.
9. Put the bio-media balls inside spillway.
NOTE: The bio-media can stay inside the bags.
10. Place the lter pad over bio-media ball bags and spillway.
11. Slide 2 clips on the cover, then snap them to the spillway.
12. Carefully cover the waterfall spillway and tubing with
natural material for a professional look.

Disposal
Do not dispose of this unit with domestic waste! The spillway is ABS plastic. Further information about the recycling of
this product can be obtained from your local municipal authority.

Troubleshooting
Maintenance and cleaning
Attention! Dangerous electrical voltage.
Possible consequences: Death or severe injury.
Protective measures: Prior to reaching into the water, disconnect the power supply to all units used in the water.
Disconnect the power plug prior to carrying out work on the unit.
●Before cleaning, always disconnect the pump from the power source.
●Occasional cleaning of the lter foam will be necessary to ensure the proper functioning of the system. Filter foam
should be removed and washed with clean water when they are visibly soiled. Filter foam should be replaced annually,
ideally in the early spring.
●The exterior surface of the cover may also need occasional cleaning. Particularly if the openings in the top of the cover
are obstructed. When cleaning the cover use warm water only. Do not use any chemicals that may destroy the
benecial bacteria.
●At least once a year the entire system should be disassembled and cleaned thoroughly using clean, warm water. This
should not be done during the warm season as it may take up to 8 weeks to re-establish the environmental balance.
The best time of the year to “breakdown” your system is in early spring before the water temperatures begin to rise.

Start-up
Important:
● This waterfall spillway is designed to work with a pump. PUMP NOT INCLUDED. The pump switches on automatically
when power connection is established.
1. Switching on the pump: Connect power plug to the socket.
○ After the pump has been connected the waterfall spillway
will start to ll up and then create waterfall.
2. Switching off the pump: Disconnect the power plug.

●The basic rule of thumb is that you need 100 GPH of ow for every 1 in. of width for your waterfall.
○ Example: if you have an 16 in. wide waterfall and the waterfall is at a height of 8 ft., then you need a pump
to be able to deliver 1600 GPH at 8 ft.
●If you prefer a more subtle ow of water, cut the ow rate in half, making 50 GPH your target for every 1 in. of waterfall width.
●If you prefer a more robust ow of water, double the ow rate, making 200 GPH your target for every 1 in. of waterfall width.
●Don’t forget to take friction loss into account when selecting the pump. Remember, this results from bends in the water ow such as an
elbow or bringing the ow through a pressure lter prior to delivering to the waterfall. For this reason it is recommended to use a
dedicated pump that is plumbed directly to the waterfall and a separate pump for lters and water features.
