Configuring Smart ScanTM:
The Smart Scan is disabled before shipment. It is
recommended to leave Smart Scan disabled in most
applications.
To enable the Smart ScanTM
1) Set the Configuration switch #1 to the up position.
2) Re-power the matrix.
To disable Smart ScanTM
1) Set the Configuration switch #1 to the down position.
2) Re-power the matrix.
Installation:
1) Verify that the Configuration Switch is in the factory default mode.
2) Connect the DC power adapter
3) Connect the Monitors.
HDMI-If you are connecting HDTV with HDMI, simply connect
the HDMI cable
CAT5/6 -If you are connecting using the RJ-45 CAT 5/6 output,
you must use a HDMI-CAT 5/6 Receiver.
4) Connect the HDMI sources to the HDMI INPUTS
5) Turn On your HDTV and at least 1 HD source

Front Panel Control:
Source Selection:
You may use the front panel buttons to select the sources
connected to each display.
For example,
To Set display A to Input 2. Simply press and release the A
display button until the LED shows 2.

Connecting Using CAT 5/6 outputs:
1) Connect CAT5e -1 of the HDMI Matrix and Receiver with
CAT5e/6 cable.
2) Connect CAT5e -2 of the HDMI Matrix and Receiver with
CAT5e/6 cable.
3) Connect the I.R. Receiver cable (optional) to the I.R. of HDMI
Ethernet Receiver unit.
4) Connect the I.R. Transmitter cable (optional) to the I.R. TX of
HDMI Matrix.
5) Connect the DC power adapter.
Ethernet CAT 6 cable is recommended for 1080P and best
performance.

of the Receiver unit.

Remote Control Guide:
Using the Remote:
Use the remote control to select the Display that you wish to control
followed by the Input (DVD, Settop) that you wish to watch.
For example:
-Pressing “C4”will switch Input “4”to HDMI Out “C”.
Pressing ON/OFF

EDID Configuration:
The Matrix can be configured to 4 EDID settings.
It is recommended to keep the EDID in the default factory mode 1.
To change the EDID settings, please see section “changing EDID
settings” for programming instructions.

Changing EDID mode:
It is recommended to keep the EDID in the factory default MODE1. If
necessary, you may set to different EDID mode by following these
instructions.

The Octava 4x4 HD - CAT 5/6 Matrix Switch can be easily integrated
with 3rd Party control systems via RS232 control. The following shows
the control protocol for controlling the HDHC44MX.

1 RU Rackmount :
The Octava 4x4 HD - CAT 5/6 Matrix Switch can be installed in a
1 RU rack by simply installing the rack mounts included.
Disabling /Enabling Front Panel IR Remote Receiver:
To disable the front panel IR remote receiver-insert the plastic plug into
the IR jack as shown.

I.R. Remote Control over CAT 5/6:
IR remote signals can be carried over the CAT 5/6 cables to
control the 1) matrix and 2) video sources.
1) Connect the IR receiver cable to the CAT 6/HDMI receiver as
shown above
2) Connect the IR transmitter cables to the matrix IR TX 1-4 as
shown above.
3) Place and point a IR Transmitter to each video source as
shown above.
Note: No IR transmitter cable needed to control the 4x4 Matrix.
The 4x4 Matrix IR control signals are carried directly over CAT
5/6 cables and will control the matrix internally.

Warranty
Octava warrants the equipment purchased to be free from defects in
material and workmanship under normal use and service for a period of 1
year. In the event applicable law imposes any implied warranties, the
implied warranty period is limited to 1 year from the date of receipt.
If Octava's equipment fails because of defects (1) year from the date of
receipt, Octava will at its option, A) repair or replace the equipment, or B)
request return of equipment for refund of the price paid for the product
provided that the equipment has not been subjected to mechanical,
electrical or other abuse or modifications.
