ThisguidewillshowyouhowtosetupyourOmronPocketPedometer(ModelHJ‐720IT)toworkwith
MicrosoftHealthVault.

Withthisguide,youwill:
1. SetupyourPedometerdeviceandtakeatestreading.
2. GetreadytouseyourPedometerwithHealthVault.
3. ConnectyourPedometertoyourcomputeranduploadyourtestreadingtoHealthVault.


IMPORTANT:IfyouhavenotalreadycreatedyourHealthVaultaccountandinstalledHealthVault
ConnectionCenter,pleasegotohttp://healthvault.com/connectioncenterandfollowtheinstructions.

Let’sgetstarted!
Step1:Setupyourpedometerandaccumulateafewsteps
IMPORTANT:YouwillNOTbeusingtheCDincludedwiththedeviceandmaysetitaside.
¾OpenyourPedometerpackaging.Remember,youwillNOTbeusingtheCDincludedwiththe
deviceandmaysetitaside.
¾Removethedevice,andbatteriesfromtheirplasticpackaging.
¾RemovethescrewonthebatterycoverlocatedonthebackofmainunitandInstallthebattery
includedwiththepositive(+)sideofthebatteryupward.
¾Setthetime,weightandstridelengthonyourdeviceasdescribedintheinstructionmanual
pages12‐15.

NOTE:Thedisplaywillnotchangeuntilyouhavewalkedformorethan4ormoreseconds
¾AccumulatestepsonyourPedometer
oAttachthePedometerasdescribedintheinstructionmanualpages16and17.
oStartwalkinguntilyourPedometerhasaccumulatedseveralsteps.

Step2:GetreadytouseyourPedometerwithHealthVault
¾IfHealthVaultConnectionCenterisnotrunningonyourcomputer,pleasestartitandsigninto
youraccount.ConnectionCenterthenwillopentoascreenshowingyourdevice(s).
¾SelecttheOmronPedometerdevicepictureonthelefthandsideofHealthVaultConnection
Center
¾IfyoudonotseeapictureofyourdeviceinConnectionCenter,selectSetupanewdeviceand
followtheon‐screeninstructions.
Step3:ConnectyourOmronPocketPedometertoyourcomputerand
uploadyourreadingtoHealthVault
¾FindtheUSBcablethatcamewithyourPedometer.
¾PlugthesmallendofyourUSBcableintotheslotonyourPedometerthat'smarkedwiththe
USBsymbol.
¾PlugthelargeendofyourUSBcableintoyourcomputer.
¾Thesymbol“PC”willappearonthePedometerdisplaywhentheUSBcableissuccessfully
connectedtothecomputer.
NOTE:DonotunplugtheUSBconnectorduringuploadingofthemeasurementdata.
HealthVaultConnectionCenterwillsensewhenyourdevicehasbeenconnectedtoyourcomputerand
willpromptyoutouploadyourtestreading.
¾FollowtheConnectionCenteron‐screenprompts.
Youwillseeconfirmationwhenyouruploadiscomplete.AtthatpointyoumayunplugyourPedometer
fromyourcomputer.
ToseeyourreadinginyourHealthVaultaccount:
¾OpenyourInternetbrowserandgotoHealthvault.com.(Youwillbeaskedtosigninifyou
haven'taccessedyouraccountinthepast20minutes.)
¾ClickyourHealthinfotab.
Wheneveryouhavenewreadingsfromyourdevice,youcanfollowthesamestepstouploadthemto
HealthVaultandbettermanageyourhealthandfitness.
