1. Basic Operations
1. Frequency Range Setup
Set a frequency range subjected to frequency analysis.
Initial value: 20kHz
○"Input" menu - "Frequency Range" (Ctl+F)
Select a
frequency range.
○Frequency range setup tool bar
Select a
frequency range.
Click this button to
display a setup dialog.
A relation between frequency range Fr and sampling frequency Fs is shown below.
Fs = Fr*2.56
For example, the sampling frequency is 51.2kHz if the frequency range is 20kHz.

2. Input Range Setup
Set a full-scale voltage range input for each channel.
Initial value: 1Vrms (voltage range), coupling (AC), input source (BNC)
○"Input" menu - "Voltage Range" (Ctl+I)
Select a voltage
range. Select an input coupling
(AC/DC).
Select a unit of
voltage range
from dBVrms,
Vrms,
Select an input source
from BNC (analog),
SENSOR (2mA), and
SENSOR (4mA).

3. Analysis Data Length Setup
Set an analysis time length (number of sampling points) which equals the FFT time-window length.
Initial setup: 2048
○"Input" menu - "Set" tab of "Sampling"
Select the number of
sampling points.
The number of sampling points equals the number
of data points N of a time waveform.
The number of points L for frequency spectrum
resolution changes according to the number of
sampling points as follows:
L= N/2.56
For example, when the number of data points is
2048, the number of points for frequency
resolution is 800 lines.

4. Unit and Calibration Setup
To directly read an analysis result value as a physical quantity, set a calibration value and a unit name.
(1) When the EU value (physical calibration value) per 1V is known
"Input" menu - "Set" tab of "Unit / Calibration"
Set unit name (e.g.,
m/s2, G, Pa).
Set a blank for sound
pressure level.
Select a channel to be
used.
Set an EU value.
Select EU value per 1V or
voltage value per 1EU.
If the level range differs
between calibration time
and measurement time,
set the difference.
(Example) When the
level range is 130dB at
the calibration time and
90dB at the measurement
time, set -40DB.
(2) When a calibration signal can be obtained (setting a desired value as a desired EU value)

Move the cursor to a
desired point.

5. Window Setup
Set a type of the time-window function at the time of FFT analysis.
Initial setup: Hanning (all channels)

Select a window function for
each channel.
○Criteria of selection

6. Trigger Function Setup
A function to sample data in synchronization with a certain level value of an input signal or with an
external signal is referred to as trigger function. This function is used for hammering test in many
cases.
Initial setup
(1) Trigger signal source : Int (Ch1)
(2) Trigger mode : Repeat
(3) Trigger level : 25% of input range
(4) Trigger position : 32 pre-trigger
(5) Trigger polarity : Rising (+)

7. Averaging Setup
Set various averaging conditions in each of the time, frequency, and amplitude regions.
Initial value: Averaging mode (Power Sum), number of averagings (4 times)

Select a domain subjected to
averaging and a method.
Set the number of averagings
(1 to 65535).
Set an averaging time (0.1 to
858).

Denominator: Number of setups or

Select a domain

display a setup dialog.
CAUTION: Actual averaging is performed using the measurement control tool bar.

8. Frequency Derivative/Integral
The first/second order derivative operation and single/double integral operation can be performed for
data of the frequency region. Frequency derivative/integral operations can be performed for data of the
frequency region, such as power spectrum, frequency response function, etc. after completion of FFT
operation.

Select derivative or integral.

Double integral
A function to perform integral operation
to acceleration (m/s2) and directly read
values with each of the speed and
displacement conversion unit settings.
Select a speed conversion unit from m/s,
cm/s, mm/s, and um/s.
Select a displacement conversion unit
from m, cm, mm, and um.
○With derivative and integral on the frequency axis, a calculated frequency spectrum is multiplied and
divided by (jw), respectively.

Perform time-axis statistical processing operation to time-axis screen data.

(Alternatively, right-click on the display screen to display the shortcut menu.)
Select the number of display
screens in one window
(1, 2, 3, 4, or 8).
Specify an active screen or
click a screen to be active.
Specify overlaid display of
multi-screen.

3. Specifying Screen Display Functions
Specify a function (data type) to be displayed on a desired screen.
○"Display" menu - "Disp. Data Select"
(Alternatively, double-click the function name displayed on the screen.)

4. Search Function
This function reads X- and Y-axis values of a point specified by the marker or cursor.
○"Display" menu - "Cursor Set"
(Alternatively, double-click the display screen.)
Display X- and Y-axis
values.
Specify the search (or cursor) mode.
Peak : Maximum value of screen
Search : Value of marker point
Delta : Specification of delta cursor

5. Y-axis Scale Setup
Set a Y-axis scale value.
○"Display" menu - "Y-Axis Set"
(Alternatively, double-click the Y-axis of the displayed graph.)
Specify a method of changing the Y-axis
scale value.

Initial setup value associated with the input
voltage value. Up-and-down operation of
gain is possible.

7. Graph Setup
Set display color conditions on the data display screen.
• Color and line type of graph
• Color in the overlay display mode
• Grid on/off etc.

8. Copy Function
This function copies graph data of analysis results as a bit map or text data file. The graph data can be
pasted to Windows application software (Word, Excel, etc.).
8.1 Copy Mode Setup
○"Edit" menu - "Copy"
Select a copy format
(Bitmap or
Text).
Specify text format.
8.2 Copy Method
• "Edit" menu - "Copy"
• Select a screen and then press Ctl+C.
• Select a screen, right-click on the screen to display the shortcut menu, and select "Copy" from the
menu.

9. Measurement Window Screen Operations
The measurement window includes some tabs, each used to select a screen.
FFT analysis (DS-0221) screen is provided with the following five tabs:
(1) Current : Displays current analysis results or saved analysis results.
(2) Array : Displays 3D data or color map.
(3) List : Displays the current display data in list form.
(4) Nyquist : Displays Nyquist diagram of frequency response function.
(5) Orbit : Displays a Lissajous figure for two channels of the time-axis.
