Food Slicer

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should
always be followed including the following:
* Read all instructions before using the food slicer.
* To protect against risk of electrical shock do not put slicer in
water or other liquid.
* Close supervision is necessary when slicer is used by or near
children.
* Unplug from outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking
off parts and before cleaning.
* Avoid contacting moving parts. Never feed food by hand.
Always use completely assembled slicer with food platform and
food grip. Keep hands, hair, clothing and utensils away from
blade during operation to reduce the risk of injury to persons
and/or damage to the food slicer.
* Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or
after the appliance malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged in
any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized
Sunbeam-Oster Household Products service center for examina-
tion, repair or electrical or mechanical adjustment.
* The use of attachments not recommended or sold by Sunbeam-
Oster Household Products may cause fire, electrical shock or
injury.
* Do not use outdoors.
* Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot
surfaces.
* Blade is sharp. Handle carefully. Always handle blade with blade
lock. Always store the blade in slicer in the locked position.
* Do not use the food slicer for other than intended use.

FEATURES
Thank you for choosing the Oster Food Slicer. The Food Slicer has been designed to help
you prepare meals, cheeses, vegetables and breads for sandwiches, salads, deli trays and
more. The thickness gauge allows you to vary the size of your slices. The safety button
ensures that your hands stay clear of the blade during operation. The special suction feet will
keep the unit steady during slicing. Gather all of your slices on the convenient collection tray.
The unit has been designed for easy storage, too.

PREPARING TO SLICE
1. Unwrap cord from bottom of slicer, and insert into outlet. Position slicer on a clean, dry
and smooth surface. Fold down
olatform. remove food collection trav from its storaae
position and put it under the blade’at the back of the food slicer.
2. Place food carriage on platform. The ridge on bottom of food car
riage should fit into slot of platform properly. Move food
carriage
back and forth a few times to ensure proper movement.
3. Place food pusher on back of food carriage.
4. Select the required slice thickness by turning thickness adjusting
knob clockwise for thicker slices and counter-clockwise for thinner
slices (Fig. 1).
OPERATION
CAUTION: ALWAYS USE FOOD CARRIAGE AN0 FOOD PUSHER
1, Plug into 120 volt AC outlet.
2. Place food to be sliced on food platform between the carriage and the thickness guide.
Then pull food carriage toward you with left hand (Fig. 2).
3. In order to start the appliance press safety button with right hand thumb and ON/OFF but-
ton with index finger and keep both depressed.
4. When blade is rotating, keep thumb protected behind thumb guard when holding food
pusher. Push food carriage forward toward blade. Move tray back and forth steadily.
Keep food gently pressed against guide for even slices.
5. When finished slicing, unplug unit. For safety and blade protection when storing, turn the
thickness adjusting knob to align thickness guide with blade.

CLEANING
(WARNING: UNPLUG SLICER FROM OUTLET)
* All slicing parts remove for thorough cleaning. Wash with a soft cloth or sponge and a mild
soap or a spray cleaner. Rinse and dry.
* Never use steel wool or scouring powder on any part of the slicer.
* Motor is concealed in housing. Never submerge in water.
* Motor never needs oiling.
FOOD CARRIAGE: Slide food pusher off and lift food carriage from platform.
PLATFORM: Fold up platform. Push the hinge handle (Fig. 2) to the left and pull out the
platform from base.
STAINLESS STEEL BLADE: Unplug slicer. Turn blade lock counter clockwise and
lift out carefully. To replace, align both tabs of blade lock with slots
of motor housing and turn clockwise to secure. Be sure gears
engage.

NOTE: Always align thickness guide with blade for safety and
blade protection during storage.

NON-SLIP FEET: Clean with any grease-removing cleanser,
such as alcohol or window cleaner.
STORAGE
1. Align thickness guide with blade.
2. Fold up platform, Wrap cord in storage area on bottom of slicer (Fig.
3)
3. Snap collection tray to bottom of food platform.

MEATS
* Meats should be boneless.
* When slicing warm boneless roasts, remove from oven and let set 15 to 20 minutes before
slicing. They will retain more natural juices and slice evenly without crumbling. Cut the
roast, if necessary, to fit the feed tray. If roast is tied, turn off motor and remove strings one
at a time as strings near blade.
* To slice meats wafer thin, chill thoroughly before slicing.
CHEESE
Chill thoroughly before slicing. Slicing will work best with hard cheeses such as cheddars.
VEGETABLES AND FRUITS
The slicer works great slicing many vegetables and fruits including potatoes, tomatoes, car-
rots, cabbage (for slaw), eggplant, squash and zucchini. Potatoes may be sliced thick for
casseroles or thin for chips.
BREADS, CAKES AND COOKIES
Freshly baked bread should be cooled before slicing. Your slicer is ideal for all types of party
breads, pound cakes and fruit cakes.

What is Covered and For How long
Congratulations on your recent purchase of a quality Sunbeam-Oster product. We are con-
fident that our product will perform well and therefore warrant to you, as the original retail
purchaser, for a period of 1 year from the date of original purchase, that your new product
will be free of mechanical and electrical defects in material and workmanshio.
What Sunbeam-Oster Will Do & How to Get Service
If your product is covered during the warranty period, we will repair or replace your new
product (at our option) without cost to you, which will be your exclusive remedy under this
warranty. Please do not return this product to the place of purchase; doing so may delay
the processing of your claim and our repair of your product. Simply send your product
postage prepaid, with proof of purchase and a short description of the problem directly to

What is Not Covered
Our warranty for your product will not cover normal wear of parts, damage resulting from
negligent use or misuse of the product, use on improper voltage or current, use contrary to
operating instructions, glass breakage (if applicable), or disassembly, repair, or alteration by
any person other than an authorized service station. Any implied warranty of merchantabili-
ty or fitness for a particular purpose on your product is limited to the duration of this written
warranty. We shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential damages for breach of
any express or implied warranty on your product.
How Your State’s Law May Apply
Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts or the exclu-
sion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation may not
apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other

erleverroudanslesenshorairepour leserrera bloc. S’assurer
qu’il s’estenclenchea I’engrenage.
NOTA: Toujoursaligner le guide d’kpaisseursur la lame au

RANGEMENT
1. Aligner le guide d’epaisseursur la lame.
2. Replier la plate-forme. Enroulerle cordonsur le range-

3. Enchbser le plateaudansle dessousde la plate-forme.
