3. SWITCHMODE TECHNOLOGY
3
STEP 1 SOFTSTART
A preliminarycharge processes that gently introduces power to the battery.
This protects thebattery and increases battery life.
STEP 2 Bulk(Constant Current)
Charging with maximumcurrent until approximately 80 % battery capacity.
STEP 3Absorption (Constant Voltage)
Charging with decliningcurrent to maximize up to 100% battery capacity.
STEP 4 Float
The Float stagemaintains the battery at 100% charge without overcharging
or damaging thebattery. This means thecharger can beleft connected to the
battery indefinitely.
STEP 5 Pulse
Maintaining the batteryat 95-100% capacity. The chargermonitors the battery
voltage and givesa pulse when necessary to keep the battery fully charged.
The battery chargerhas a 5-step fully automatic charging cycle, the cycleis
repeated infinitely. If the terminalvoltage drops below a lower limit, the charger
automatically goes backto the beginning of the charging curve.
The SVDC1225 /SVDC1250 converts your vehicle's 12VDC/24VDC alternator
power to thevoltage level allowing your batteries to be fully charged, prolonging
battery life andreliability with the latest synchronous switching technology.
DUAL INPUT OPERATION
The SVDC1225 /SVDC1250 Dual has 2 inputs. TheService battery will be
charged from thealternator, solar panel, or both in combination. Thesolar
panel adjusts itselfto the Starter battery voltage. TheStarter battery will be
charged and maintaineddirectly by the solar panel if the Service batteryis
fully charged.
SOLAR MPPT
The SVDC1225 /SVDC1250 utilises sophisticated MPPT (Maximum Power
Point Tracking)solar regulator technology. MPPT maximisesthe power
generated from thesolar panels to the auxiliary battery.
IGNITION CONNECTION
The SVDC1225 /SVDC1250 can be wired to the vehicle's ignition allowing
it to operateonly when the ignition is turned on. The ignitionconnection also
activates the lowerinput voltage operation to suit vehicles with smart
(variable voltage) alternators.

4
4. PROTECTIVE FEATURES
POWER SUPPLY (CONSTANT VOLTAGE OF 13.8 VOLTS)
This sets thecharger in power supply mode giving a constant voltage of
13.8VDC. This modeis best used where appliances aredrawing power
from the battery, for example like a Fridge. Although thecharger is designed
to work witha battery connected, it can also work without a battery.
TEMPERATURE COMPENSATION
The SVDC1225 /SVDC1250 is supplied with a 2 metre temperature sensor.
The sensor monitorsthe battery temperature and adjusts (compensates) the
charger's output toprevent overcharging. This is ideal forbatteries used in
warmer climates orenvironments.
Spark-Free Protection
The SVDC1225 /SVDC1250 will not start charging the battery (no output)
unless the loadis securely connected. It prevents the output leads from
sparking due toaccidental short circuit making the charger safer to use
around batteries.
Reverse Connection Protection
Reverse connection oninput and output terminals does not damage
SVDC1225 / SVDC1250internal circuit. The SVDC1225 / SVDC1250detects
reverse connection conditionand indicates whether input or output connection
is reversed.
Over and UnderVoltage Protection
The charger willautomatically shut down if there is an over voltage or under
voltage problem.
Over TemperatureProtection
The charger willlower its output current if the temperature of the unit begins to
overheat.

The rugged designof the SVDC1225 / SVDC1250 affordsit to be mounted
wherever best suitsthe application. By using advanced potting technology
the unit isresistant to shock, vibration, dust and water allows for under-bonnet
or in-vehicle installation.Clever'side extrusions' incorporated within the
enclosure allow theunit to be mounted to flat surfaces as close to the auxiliary
battery as possible. It is advisable however to keep the charger asfar away
from exhausts, turbo'sor any other high temperate components to ensure
improved performance.
Tomake sound electrical connections, battery cables will need to be made to
the correct length.Cable lugs should be crimped or soldered to the stripped
battery cable andthen protected with the supplied heat shrink. Butt splices
should be usedfor cable extension.
