The Palram indoor hydroponic grow cabinet has been
designed to meet all known safety requirements.
During normal operation, the grow cabinet presents
no hazards to the operator. However, in certain circumstances,
the following potential hazards exist:
zElectrical shock (110/220 VAC)
zMechanical hazards (moving parts, pinch points, etc.)
zSlipping hazard
zHeavy object hazard
The information and instructions presented in this document are
intended to help the
operator work with the grow cabinet in a safe, effective, and
efficient manner.
1. SAFETY OVERVIEW
WARNING: The grower is responsible
for the safe and proper planting, growing, and
harvesting of the plants (see Cautions and
Warnings)
Safety conventions employed in this manual are as follows:
NOTE: Indicates additional information to
help the user obtain optimum performance.
Notes are not related to safety of equipment or

TIP: Indicates useful information to simplify

CAUTION: Indicates that the equipment

GENERAL SAFETY CONCERNS
zThe grow cabinet is for home use only
zChildren under eight should not use the grow cabinet without adult
supervision
zThe grow cabinet is not a toy
zDo not operate the pump if cassettes are not in the cabinet
zDo not fill water in the reservoir above MAX. This ensures there is no
spill over when the pump stops operating
zDo not pour water into the cassettes. It should be poured directly into
the reservoir
HARVESTING AND EATING SAFETY CONCERNS
zWash what has been harvested prior to eating
zEat only what is fresh and looks healthy
zDo not eat anything that was in direct contact with the water,
especially the roots
zAdd water suitable for drinking only
zAfter water has been added to the reservoir it is no longer suitable for
drinking
zIf there's a bad odor, treat the problem immediately (see
Troubleshooting)
STORAGE SAFETY
zThroughly clean and dry the grow cabinet before placing it in storage
ELECTRICAL SAFETY CONCERNS
zDo not install electrical heating or cooling equipment inside
the grow cabinet
zDo not remove parts from the cabinet structure.
This may lead to injury or electrification
zIn case of spillage in and around the grow cabinet, immediately
unplug the cabinet and clean up the spill
PHYSICAL SAFETY CONCERNS
zDo not look directly at the lights
zAt least two people are required to assemble and move
the grow cabinet
zThe grow cabinet must be placed on a level, stable,
and sturdy surface
zSome of the grow cabinet parts may be sharp. Handle with care
zThere is a danger of slipping during cabinet maintenance,
as water may have spilled on the floor.
PROHIBITED USES
zDo not insert objects or equipment into the grow cabinet which have
not been expressly permitted for use by the manufacturer
zDo not install the grow cabinet outside or in a place that receives
direct sunlight.

Water continually circulates

ensuring the plants receive
the water and nutrients they

Sturdy legs ensure the
cabinet remains stable and

required for healthy plant

Air Circulation System
Fans expel excess moisture
and heat from the unit, while
air screens keep the cabinet
free of insects

pump, fans, and lights
TIP: Growing mediums include perlite,
coir (coconut fiber), peat, and mineral
wool
Cassettes
Plants are placed directly into the cassette
holes, with the roots touching the water that
is continually flowing along the bottom of the
cassette. Cups and growing medium are optional

Palram's hydroponic grow cabinet employs the nutrient film technique (NFT), in
which roots are always in contact with water circulating through the cabinet. The
water contains all the nutrients the plants need to grow, while its continual
circulation oxygenates the water and prevents the roots from rotting.

5.2 LIGHTING SYSTEM
The grow cabinet is equipped with full-spectrum LED light strips which ensure plants receive
the exact wavelengths of light needed for optimum growth.
The lights can be switched
between off and timer mode
Each row of cassettes is lit
by two LED strips
In timer mode, lights are
programmed to turn on and
off automatically based on a
set schedule defined using
a mobile app
TIP: To provide the best growing environment,
program the lights to be on for 14 hours every day

Three fans blow heat
and moisture out of the

Follow these guidelines when placing the cabinet:
6.2 PLACING THE CABINET
CAUTION: Do not place the cabinet near a
heat source (e.g., ovens, heaters, etc.)
CAUTION: Do not place the cabinet on a
surface which can be damaged by water
Verify that the sides of
the cabinet are at least 10
cm from the wall and that
there is enough space to
fully open the door
Place the cabinet in an
area with Wi-Fi signal
Place the cabinet within
reach of a wall outlet
Keep the room
temperature between
16°C and 30°C
Do not place the
cabinet in an area
which receives direct
Place the cabinet on
a sturdy and level
surface

Verify the pump
switch is in the off
position
If the legs are not
attached, place the
cabinet on its side
and connect the legs
to the bottom of the
cabinet
Place the cabinet
upright and twist the
legs until it is level
with the ground
Verify the gutters are
attached to the back
wall of the cabinet
Verify the cassettes
are properly placed
inside the cabinet
Connect the power
cord to an AC outlet
CAUTION: At least two people are required
to move the grow cabinet

A mobile application is used to program the on/off cycle of the cabinet lights. Perform the following steps to set up the application on a mobile device:

Perform the following steps to
treat the water and fill the reservoir:
6.5 FILLING RESERVOIR WITH WATER
Fill a bucket with
water treated by
reverse osmosis
CAUTION: Follow manufacturers'
instructions prior to using pHDown,fertilizer,
and the pH and EC meters
TIP: Water treated by reverse osmosis
removes many of the minerals that impair
plant growth. Using untreated water may
require additional analysis to achieve the ideal
growing conditions, depending on water source
NOTE: The water reservoir can hold
20 liters of water
Add pHDown
and stir until
the pH meter
displays 6.5-7
Verify the pump
is switched off
CAUTION: Exceeding MAX on the water
gauge will cause the water to overflow and spill
onto the floor
Pour the water
into the reservoir,
repeating steps 2
and 3 until MAX
level is reached

Turn on the pump and
wait for the water to
circulate in the cabinet
Measure the EC level
and note the value.
This is the baseline
Add fertilizer until the
EC level reaches 1.5
above the baseline
value
NOTE: It takes about ten minutes for the EC
level to stabilize after adding fertilizer
TIP: Keep the pH and EC meter tips in a cup
of fresh water between uses, or wash well after
every use
