SAFETYPRECAUTIONS
Indicatesthatimproperhandlingbyignoringthisindicationcouldcauselightper-
sonalinjury(bruises,wounds,orcuts)orpropertydamage.
■ Place the mattress with the soft-t side on the upper
side when the body pressure dispersibility function is
necessary, and take care concerning the following:
● Consultaspecialistforadviceonhowtopreventbed-
sores.Useofthismattressaloneisnotenoughtopre-
ventbedsoresfromoccurringinpatients.Patientsalso
needtofollowacomprehensivetreatmentplan(which
includesacontrollednutritionplan,abasicmedical
treatmentplan,andadviceandguidanceonhowtopo-
sitionthebodywhileonthemattress).Consultdoctors,
nurses,nursing-carespecialists,andotherspecialists
foradviceonhowtopreventbedsoresfromoccurring.
● Itmustbeunderstoodthatitdoesnotrenderunneces-
sarytheneedforapatienttobemovedorshiftedinpo-
sitiontopreventbedsoresfromforming.Thismattress
is merely one tool to use in the general care and pre-
ventionofbedsores.Itistobeunderstoodthatitdoes
notrendertheneedforapatienttobemovedorshifted
inpositionunnecessarytopreventbedsoresfromform-
ing.Make suretocontinuemovingor repositioning the
patient periodically throughout the treatment process
whileusingthismattressinordertopreventbedsores.
● Donotattempt toplacethickmattresspadsorother
bedding on top of the mattress as such items could
interfere with the dispersion of body pressure. The mat-
tresswillnotbeabletodispersepressureeffectivelyif
such items are used.
● Payattentiontothe back-raisedegree.Keepa30°or
lowerback-raisedegreetotheextentpossiblewhen
using the mattress on the bed with the back-raise func-
tion.Bedsoresmayoccurwhentheback-raisedegree
isover30°becausebodypressurecannotbeeffectively
dispersed.
■ Do not leave the handles sticking out or otherwise ex-
posed.
● Makesuretoadequatelycoverthesidesofthemat-
tresswithawhilemakingthebedsoasnottoexpose
thehandles.Ifthehandlesareleftstickingoutorother-
wiseexposed,thepatientoranotherpersoncouldget
ahand,foot,orotherbodypartcaughtinthehandle,
which could lead to injury. They could also become
caught on the side rail or other parts of the bed when
thebackisraised,whichcouldcausethemtobecome
damaged.
■ Do not use the mattress if the fastener is open.
● Ifthefastenerisleftopenwhilemattressisbeingused,
fluidsandcontaminantsmaygetinside,causingthe
padding to deteriorate.
■ Be careful with the fastener pull tab
● Thereisariskofhands,feet,orotherbodypartsgetting
scraped,resultingininjury.
■ Tuck the pull tab for the fastener into the fastener ga-
rage. Do not use the mattress with the fastener open
■ Do not place cooling objects such as ice packs and
refrigerating agents directly on the mattress
● Exposingthemattresstosuddenandextremechanges
in temperature may cause condensation to form inside
the mattress itself. This condensation may cause the
coverorpaddingtodeteriorateinquality.
■ Do not attempt to clean the mattress using a mattress
washer or an autoclave sterilizer, an ozone sterilizer, a
washing machine, or a similar device
● Usingsuchequipmentonthemattressmaycausethe
mattresstoexperiencedeterioration,damage,orwear.
■ Do not attempt to excessively or forcefully pull on or
grip the cover, padding, or other parts of the mattress
● Doingsocouldcausethecover,padding,orotherparts
of the mattress to become damaged.
■ Use the two handles located along the side of the
cover to lift up the mattress when positioning it on the
bed or moving it
● Grippingontosectionsofthemattressotherthanthe
handlestomoveitcouldcausethecover,padding,or
other sections to become damaged.
■ Do not forcibly bend or roll up the mattress.
● Doingsocouldcauseunexpectedinjuryordamage.
■ Inspect the mattress regularly
● Themattressexhibitsdeteriorationaccordingtothe
frequencyandconditionsofuse.Checkthemattress
periodicallyfordamagetothecover,flatteningof the
padding,andotherpotentialproblems.
* Usearulerorothermeasurementtooltomeasure the
depth of depressed areas in the padding from the surface
of the material to the bottom of the depression.
● Replacethecoverifitisfoundtobedamaged.Foras-
sistancewithreplacements,contactus(see“Contact
Information”onthebackofthismanual).
● Theabilityofthemattresstodispersepressureonthe
bodywilldroponcethepaddedmaterialhasattened
bymorethan3cm,whichwillmakeituncomfortableto
sleepon.Itisrecommendedthatthemattressitselfor
at least the upper and lower layers be replaced when
this happens.
● Doingsocouldcausethecover,
padding,orotherpartsof the
mattress to become damaged.
● Ifthefastenerisleftopenwhile
mattressisused,uidsandcon-
taminantsmaygetinside,caus-
ing the padding to break down.
