■ EvertLightMattressisdesignedtohaveareversiblespecicationsothateachsidehasadifferentrm-
ness.Thesoft-tsideisequippedwithappropriatebodypressuredispersibilitywhichhelpstodisperse
bodypressurewhenthemattressisusedinhealth-carecenters,facilitiesfortheelderly,aswellasat
homeduringrecuperation.Inaddition,therm-tsidehasanappropriatermnesstosecurelysupportthe
body.Eachsidecanbeusedaccordingtotheconditions,bodytype,preference,environment,etc.,ofthe
person who is using the mattress.

■ Be careful not to let any part of the body get
caught in the bed
●Makesurethatthebodyisnotcaughtinthe
clearancebetweenthemattressandthebed,
theside-rail,theswingarmassistbar,orothers.
This could cause injury to the person or suffoca-
tion due to pressure.
■ Be careful not to let any of the tubes (drain
tubes) get caught in the bed.
●Ifanyofthetubes(draintubes)weretoget
caught in the gaps between the mattress and
thebed,siderail,swingarmassistbar,orother
partsofthebed,itcouldcausethetubes(drain
tubes)tobecomedisconnectedorpinchedoff.
■ Be careful not to let the patient slide off of the
mattress and fall
●Makesuretohavethepatientbesupported
byanurse,othercaregiver,attendant,orother
person or use the swing arm assist bar or other
means of support when sitting on the edge of
thebedtopreventfalls.
■ Take care to prevent the patient from falling off
of the bed even when side rails are used
● Ifapatientbendstoofarforwardoverasiderail,
he or she may fall off of the bed and become in-
jured.
■ Do not allow the patient or any other person
using the bed to lie face down on the mattress
● Lyingfacedownonthemattressforlongperiods
of time could lead to suffocation.
■ Do not use the mattress for baby and toddler.
●Theirbodymaybecaughtintheclearancebe-
tweenbedandsiderail,swingarmassistbar,
orotherpartsofthebed,itcouldcausethemto
become injured or to suffocate due to pressure.
■ Do not use the mattress if the cover or padding
is dirty.
●Usingthecoverorpaddingwhileitisstained
with dirt or blood and other contaminants could
contribute to the spread of infectious disease.
● Useofthemattresswithdirt orblood andother
contaminants adhering to its surface could
causethepaddingtobecomestainedaswell,
which could trigger the spread of infectious dis-
easeandotherhealthcarethreats.Wipeaway
anydirt,blood,orothercontaminantassoonas
it appears.
● Followtheinstructionsoutlinedin"DAILYMAIN-
TENANCE"(seep.6)tocleanthemattress
shouldthecoverorpaddingbecomedirty.
■ Keep the mattress away from re.
● Donotusethermal appliancessuch asheaters
nearthemattress.Otherwise,themattressmay
bedamagedordeformed,orevencatchre.
■ Do not attempt to move the mattress while
someone is sitting or lying on it
●Movingthemattresswhileapersonislyingor
sittingonitorwhileaheavyobjectisplacedon
topofitmaycausethepersonorobjecttofall,
which could in turn cause injury to the person or
damagetothepadding,cover,orhandle.
■ Do not attempt to stand on top of the mattress
or jump up and down on it.
● Thereisariskofinjuryduetofallingordamage
to the mattress.
■ Make sure to use only suitable beds and other
products specied by Paramount Bed with the
mattress.
●Usingnon-approvedproductsoranothercom-
pany'sproductscouldcreateunintendedgaps,
causing interference between products or low-
eringproductsafety,possiblycausinginjuryor
failureofthemattress.Forthesuitableproducts,
seethespecicationsonthebackofthismanu-
al.
■ Do not attempt to use another mattress, futon
mattress, two or more mattress pads stacked
together, or other thick bedding with the mat-
tress.
●Theothermattress,futonmattress,ormattress
padcouldslideoutofplaceandfall,whichcould
causethepersontofallandinjurethemselves.
■ Do not repair or modify the product or its com-
ponents by yourself
● Doingsocouldcauseunexpectedinjuryordam-
age.

SAFETYPRECAUTIONS
Indicatesthatimproperhandlingbyignoringthisindicationcouldcauselightper-
sonalinjury(bruises,wounds,orcuts)orpropertydamage.
CAUTION
■ Place the mattress with the soft-t side on the upper
side when the body pressure dispersibility function is
necessary, and take care concerning the following:
● Consultaspecialistforadviceonhowtopreventbed-
sores.Useofthismattressaloneisnotenoughtopre-
ventbedsoresfromoccurringinpatients.Patientsalso
needtofollowacomprehensivetreatmentplan(which
includesacontrollednutritionplan,abasicmedical
treatmentplan,andadviceandguidanceonhowtopo-
sitionthebodywhileonthemattress).Consultdoctors,
nurses,nursing-carespecialists,andotherspecialists
foradviceonhowtopreventbedsoresfromoccurring.
● Itmustbeunderstoodthatitdoesnotrenderunneces-
sarytheneedforapatienttobemovedorshiftedinpo-
sitiontopreventbedsoresfromforming.Thismattress
is merely one tool to use in the general care and pre-
ventionofbedsores.Itistobeunderstoodthatitdoes
notrendertheneedforapatienttobemovedorshifted
inpositionunnecessarytopreventbedsoresfromform-
ing.Make suretocontinuemovingor repositioning the
patient periodically throughout the treatment process
whileusingthismattressinordertopreventbedsores.
● Donotattempt toplacethickmattresspadsorother
bedding on top of the mattress as such items could
interfere with the dispersion of body pressure. The mat-
tresswillnotbeabletodispersepressureeffectivelyif
such items are used.
● Payattentiontothe back-raisedegree.Keepa30°or
lowerback-raisedegreetotheextentpossiblewhen
using the mattress on the bed with the back-raise func-
tion.Bedsoresmayoccurwhentheback-raisedegree
isover30°becausebodypressurecannotbeeffectively
dispersed.
■ Do not leave the handles sticking out or otherwise ex-
posed.
● Makesuretoadequatelycoverthesidesofthemat-
tresswithawhilemakingthebedsoasnottoexpose
thehandles.Ifthehandlesareleftstickingoutorother-
wiseexposed,thepatientoranotherpersoncouldget
ahand,foot,orotherbodypartcaughtinthehandle,
which could lead to injury. They could also become
caught on the side rail or other parts of the bed when
thebackisraised,whichcouldcausethemtobecome
damaged.
■ Do not use the mattress if the fastener is open.
● Ifthefastenerisleftopenwhilemattressisbeingused,
fluidsandcontaminantsmaygetinside,causingthe
padding to deteriorate.
■ Be careful with the fastener pull tab
● Thereisariskofhands,feet,orotherbodypartsgetting
scraped,resultingininjury.
■ Tuck the pull tab for the fastener into the fastener ga-
rage. Do not use the mattress with the fastener open
■ Do not place cooling objects such as ice packs and
refrigerating agents directly on the mattress
● Exposingthemattresstosuddenandextremechanges
in temperature may cause condensation to form inside
the mattress itself. This condensation may cause the
coverorpaddingtodeteriorateinquality.
■ Do not attempt to clean the mattress using a mattress
washer or an autoclave sterilizer, an ozone sterilizer, a
washing machine, or a similar device
● Usingsuchequipmentonthemattressmaycausethe
mattresstoexperiencedeterioration,damage,orwear.
■ Do not attempt to excessively or forcefully pull on or
grip the cover, padding, or other parts of the mattress
● Doingsocouldcausethecover,padding,orotherparts
of the mattress to become damaged.
■ Use the two handles located along the side of the
cover to lift up the mattress when positioning it on the
bed or moving it
● Grippingontosectionsofthemattressotherthanthe
handlestomoveitcouldcausethecover,padding,or
other sections to become damaged.
■ Do not forcibly bend or roll up the mattress.
● Doingsocouldcauseunexpectedinjuryordamage.
■ Inspect the mattress regularly
● Themattressexhibitsdeteriorationaccordingtothe
frequencyandconditionsofuse.Checkthemattress
periodicallyfordamagetothecover,flatteningof the
padding,andotherpotentialproblems.
* Usearulerorothermeasurementtooltomeasure the
depth of depressed areas in the padding from the surface
of the material to the bottom of the depression.
● Replacethecoverifitisfoundtobedamaged.Foras-
sistancewithreplacements,contactus(see“Contact
Information”onthebackofthismanual).
● Theabilityofthemattresstodispersepressureonthe
bodywilldroponcethepaddedmaterialhasattened
bymorethan3cm,whichwillmakeituncomfortableto
sleepon.Itisrecommendedthatthemattressitselfor
at least the upper and lower layers be replaced when
this happens.
● Doingsocouldcausethecover,
padding,orotherpartsof the
mattress to become damaged.
● Ifthefastenerisleftopenwhile
mattressisused,uidsandcon-
taminantsmaygetinside,caus-
ing the padding to break down.

OPERATION
● Donotleavethehandlesstickingoutorotherwiseexposed.Ifthehandlesare
leftstickingoutorotherwiseexposed,thepatientoranotherpersoncouldget
ahand,foot,orotherbodypartcaughtinthehandle,whichcouldleadtoin-
jury. They could also become caught on the side rail or other parts of the bed
whenthebackisraised,whichcouldcausethemtobecomedamaged.
● Donotattempttouseafutonmattress,twoormoremattresspadsstackedto-
gether,orotherthickbeddingwiththemattress.Themattresswillnotbeable
todispersepressureeffectivelyifsuchitemsareused.
● Becarefulnotto setthetemperaturetoohighwhenusing anelectricblanket
orhotwaterbottleoranotherelectricdevicewiththemattress.Usingsucha
deviceatatemperatureabove50°Cmaycausethepaddingtodeteriorate.
● Donot removethe coverfrom themattress exceptwhenreplacing thecover
orpaddingortocleanthecover.Doingsocouldcausethecover,padding,or
other parts of the mattress to become damaged.
● Tuckthepulltabforthefastenerintothefastenergarage.Donotusethemat-
tresswiththefasteneropen.Doingsocouldcausethecover,padding,oroth-
erpartsofthemattresstobecomedamaged.Ifthefastenerisleftopenwhile
cleaningproceduresarecompleted,uidsandcontaminantsmaygetinside,
causing the padding to break down.
● Trytolimittheamountoftimethatthebedisusedwiththebackraised.Using
thebedwiththebackraisedforexcessivelylongperiodsoftimecouldacceler-
atethedeteriorationofthecoverandpadding.
●Donotallowblood,urine,sweat,sebum, orotherbodyexcretionstoremain
onthecover.Allowingsuchsubstancestoremainmaycausethecoverto
smellorstainanddeteriorateinquality.Fortheinstructionsonhowtoremove
suchdirtandothercontaminants,see"DAILYMAINTENANCE"(seep.6).
● Donotuseorotherwiseholdorcarryobjectswithsharpedgesortipsaround
themattress.Donotliedownonthemattresswithobjectsleftinpockets.
There is a risk of damage to the mattress.
● Donotsubjectthemattresstoexcessiveloadsorintenseshockswhileitisin
useorbeingmoved.Doingsocoulddamagethemattress.
CAUTION
■Donotattempttouseothermattress,futonmattress,towormoremattress
padstackedtogether,orotherthickbeddingwiththemattressTheothermat-
tress,futonmattress,mattresspadscouldslidoutofplaceandfall,which
could cause the person to fall to be injured.
●Setanelectricappliancesuchaselectricalheatingblanketonthemattress
soannottopinchcords(power-supplycordandothercord)bybedcasteror
movablepartwhenattemptingtousesuchelectricappliances.Itcouldcause
electricshockorreduetothedamageofthecord.

Mattress
■Thismattressisdesignedtohaveareversible
specicationsothateachsidehasadifferentrm-
ness and it can be used according to the intended
use.
Place it directly on top of the bed when using it.
■Usingthediagramatleftasareference,place
sheetsonthemattressoverthetopandsides.
■Makesuretoventilatetheareaadequatelyand
shift the patient as often as necessary and so on if
the person using the bed is someone who sweats
excessively.Inaddition,makesuretouseamat-
tress pad and wash or change the sheets and
mattresspadandcleanthemattressfrequentlyas
outlined in the cleaning procedures.
NOTE!
●Checkthetopofthebedforanyobjects
leftbehindandremoveasnecessary
to prepare it before setting the mattress
down.
● Donot attemptto usetwo ormoreof the
mattresses stacked together at one time.
●Ifbotheredbythescentofthemattress
(suchasthesmelloftheurethanemateri-
al),letthemattresssitinawell-ventilated
areaoutofdirectsunlightforoneday,to
air it out and cut down on the smell.
NOTE!
●Thereisnodiscriminationsofhead-side
orfoot-side,sothatplacethemattressby
rotating the top and down as needed.

DAILYMAINTENANCE
●Followthestepsbelowinorder((1)to(4))tocleantheentiresurfaceofthemattresswheneveritbe-
comesdirtyorthepersonusingitchanges.Becarefulnottobendorrollthe mattress while cleaning it.
(1) Removeanydirtorothercontaminantspresent.(Suchasblood,feces,etc.)
(2) Usesoapywater(regularsoap,aneutraldetergentsolution,etc.dilutedwithwater)towipeofftheen-
tiresurfaceofthecoveronthemattresstoremoveanydirt.
(3) Useadisinfectantsolutiontodisinfectandfurthercleanthecoveronthesurfaceofthemattress.
 Makesuretouseoneofthedisinfectantsolutionslistedbelowatthespeciedconcentration.Follow
theinstructionsforusingthespecieddisinfectant.
●0.1to0.5%: Sodiumhypochlorite(e.g.Purelox)
●0.05to0.2%:Benzalkoniumchloride(e.g.Osvan)
●0.05to0.2%:Benzethoniumchloride(e.g.Hyamine)
●0.05%: Chlorhexidinegluconate(e.g.Hibitane)
(4) Allowthemattresstoairdrywhileleftontopofthebed.Donotattempttodrythemattressindirect
sunlight.
●Donotusedisinfectantsotherthantheoneslistedabovewiththemattress.
Thedisinfectantcouldadverselyaffectthewaterproongforthecover,cause
thematerialtodeteriorateortobecomediscolored,andotherproblems.
CAUTION
● Cleanand disinfect the mattress regularly.
● Donotwashcoverandpadding.
● Takeprecautions to keep the padding from getting wet.
LONG-TERMSTORAGE
■ The following precautions should be observed when the mattress is not planned for use for ex-
tended periods of time.
1.Donotstackothermaterialsonthemattress.
2.Avoidstoringthemattressinalocationexposedtohightemperaturesorhumidity,inadustylocation,or
in direct sunlight.
* Thepaddingandcovermaybediscoloredbutthereisnoprobleminproductperformance.
* Ifbotheredbythescentofthemattress(suchasthesmelloftheurethanematerial),letthemattresssit
inawell-ventilatedareaoutofdirectsunlightforoneday,toairitoutandcutdownonthesmell.
● Donotallowblood,urine,sweat,sebum,andotherbodilyexcretionstoremain
onthemattress.Allowingsuchsubstancestoremainmaycausethecoverto
produceanodororstainanddeteriorateinquality.
○ Odorsbeinggivenoffbythecoverwhilethemattressisbeingusedcanbe
reduced with a commercial mouthwash.
○Iftherearestainspresent,applyhydrogenperoxide(a3%solution)and
then thoroughly wipe them away.
● Donotusevolatilematerialsonthemattress(suchaspaintthinner,benzene,
orgasoline).Discolorationordeteriorationcouldresult.
CAUTION
● Donotundothe fastenerandattempttoremovethecover fromthemattress
when cleaning the mattress.
Ifthefastenerhappenstobeopen,closeitbeforeproceeding.Ifthefastener
isleftopenwhilecleaningproceduresarecompleted,uidsandcontaminants
maygetinside,causingthepaddingtobreakdown.
● Donotattempttocleanthemattressusingamattresswasheroranautoclave
sterilizer,anozonesterilizer,awashingmachine,orasimilardevice.Using
suchequipmentonthemattressmaycausethemattresstoexperiencedete-
rioration,damage,orwear.
