This instruction manual describes precautions and how to safely use and operate
the recliner.
●Before using this recliner, please read this instruction manual
to fully understand the safe and proper operating procedures.
●The correct operating procedures should be explained not
only to the persons using the recliner but also to caregivers.
●After reading this instruction manual, store it where it can be
easily accessed for later reference.
●The actual product purchased may differ from detailed
descriptions given in this instruction manual due to
product improvements.
●Users and/or carers are requested to report information about any
serious incident related to this recliner that occurs within the EU to the
manufacturer and the regulating authority of the member country of
residence. 'Serious incident' means any incident that directly or
indirectly led, might have led or might lead to any the following :
a) The death of a user, carer or other person.
b) The temporary or permanent serious deterioration of a user's,
carer's or other person's state of health.

Adjusting the backrest angle
The backrest angle can be adjusted by the handheld
controller, and the patient can be positioned in
comfortable position which is not difficult or
detrimental to the human body.
*The backrest can move from an angle of 0˚ to 75˚.

Backrest and leg rest auto contour operation
The angle of the backrest and leg rest can be operated at the same time by the handheld controller, and
the patient can thus adjust his/her position more quickly.

emergency conditions, or a power failure.

●The safety precautions described here are intended to ensure safe use of the product and prevent
personal injury and property damage. Precautions are classified as “WARNING”, “PROHIBITED”
and “CAUTION” to indicate the degree of hazard or injury that may result from improper use.
These are important safety precautions that must be strictly observed.
Indicates actions that may result in death or serious injury (broken bones,
pressure or paralysis) if the indication is ignored.
Indicates actions that may result in light personal injury (bruises, wounds, or
cuts) or property damage if the indication is ignored.
Among items described in SAFETY PRECAUTIONS, are especially important because ignoring them could

Be careful not to allow any part of the body (especially the head or neck) to slip
into the gaps between the moving parts shown below.
●
When the head or neck enters the gap, the patient might not be able to withdraw, and there is a risk
of injury. Be especially careful to check patients who might act in unexpected ways or cannot
maintain their posture independently.

Be careful not to slide off the recliner onto the floor due to fainting because of
anemia or a similar condition.
●
The patient's head or neck could get caught in the armrest or IV Pole, or the patient could fall off
the recliner, resulting in injury.
■
Raise the backrest, and then get on or off the recliner from its side with the armrests
lower.
●
If the patient gets on or off from the leg rest side,
patient may lose balance and topple over, or may
fall off the recliner and get hurt.
■
Do not sit on the armrest, lean against it.
●
If a person places body weight on the armrest, the
person could fall off or topple over the recliner,
resulting in injury or the armrest could be
damaged.
■
Lock all four casters at all times except when moving the recliner.
●
The recliner could move when a patient gets into
or out of the recliner, possibly causing injury.
■
For suitable product directly attached to the recliner such as the IV Pole attachment,
or foot rest, use only products approved by Paramount Bed.
●
The use of products other than the specified suitable products or products from other companies
could create unintended gaps, cause interference between products, or lower stability, resulting in
injury or failure of the recliner.
■Take care not to fall off the recliner.
●
Otherwise, the patient may get injured.
●
Be particularly cautious when using the recliner in the horizontal state (as a bed).
●
If the patient gets on or off the recliner from the
back side with the backrest lowered, patient may
topple over or fall off the recliner and get hurt.
These actions may lower the product stability
and the recliner could fall off, resulting in injury
or the recliner could be damaged or deformed.
●
If the patient gets on or off with the armrests
raised,the armrests could unexpectedly move, and
the patient’s body may lose its balance, causing
him/her to topple over or fall off and get hurt.
●
The armrests may operate unexpectedly, causing
the patient to topple over or fall off and get hurt.
■Do not lean over to the recliner.
●
There is a risk of injury due to the recliner falling
over, or damage to the recliner.

Otherwise, the patient could fall off or falling
down, resulting in injury.
■
When operating the recliner, take note of surrounding people or objects, as well as
the lines connected to the patient.
■
Do not swing from, lean on, or hang items on the pillow, belt, or weight.

These actions may lower the product stability and
the recliner could fall off, resulting in injury or the
recliner could be damaged.
●
Crawling under the recliner, or putting the head,
hands, or legs under it could cause them to get
caught in the gaps between the moving parts of
the recliner (such as the base frame and backrest,
etc.), resulting in injury.
●
Sitting on the recliner with legs hanging on the
base frame could cause them to get caught,
resulting in injury.
●
The instability may cause the patient to fall down.
There is a risk of damage to the pillow.
●
There is a risk of injury caused by falling off the
recliner or falling down.
●
These actions may lower the product stability and
the recliner could fall off, resulting in injury or the
recliner could be damaged.
●
Lines could be pulled or pinched by the recliner,
causing injury to the user or the lines or devices
could be damaged.
●
The recliner operations may damage surrounding
objects, or may cause the recliner to be damaged
or deformed.
■
When the backrest or leg rest are in the horizontal position, do not rest hands on or
sit on their ends.
■
Do not stand on the recliner.

Do not perform any angle adjustment when the patient is lying face down or on
their side (in any posture other than lying face up).
■
Do not allow the recliner to be operated by a child aged 12 or under, or someone
deemed incapable of comprehending the operation of the recliner.
●
There is a risk of injury caused by extending the
joints backward.
●
If a child aged 12 or under, or someone deemed incapable of comprehending the operation (such as
persons with dementia) operates the handheld controller panel by themselves, there is a risk of
unexpected injury such as the body getting caught in the recliner by accident. If such person can come
into contact with the handheld controller, limit the operation by unplugging the power plug in order
to prevent accidents caused by incorrect operation.
■
When performing manual emergency back-lowering, use one hand to operate the
emergency back-lowering lever, and use the other hand to support the backrest.
●
Depending on the weight of the patient sitting in the recliner, and on the angle of the backrest, the
backrest may drop suddenly and there is a risk of injury.
* Depending on the patient's weight or the angle of the backrest, pulling the lever may not be enough
to get the backrest to lower. In this case, use the other hand to push down on the backrest.
■Do not damage cables (such as the power cable).
●
Damage to the cables may cause electric shock or fire.
• Be careful not to allow cables to get caught in the movable parts of the recliner.
• Be careful not to place heavy objects on cables or apply excessive force to them.
• Do not run over cables with the recliner.
●
Request repair (or replacement) of damaged cables.
■Do not trip over the power cable or handheld controller cable.
●Damage to the power plug or cables may cause electric shock or fire.
●There is a risk of injury caused by falling over.
■
Do not run cables (such as the power cable) of the recliner or other electrical
appliances under the recliner.
●
The cables may get caught in casters or movable parts and be damaged, resulting in electric shock
or fire.
■Disconnect the power plug when using electronic medical equipment.
●
Using the recliner in conjunction with electronic medical equipment (e.g. microwave or
ultrashortwave medical equipment) could cause operational failure or malfunction.
●Check for safety before using the recliner in conjunction with other medical equipment.
■Always unplug the power plug before cleaning.
●There is a risk of injury if the recliner unexpectedly moves due to accidental operation.
■When disconnecting the power plug, hold the power plug body.
●
If only the power cable is held when pulling to disconnect the plug from the outlet, the cable may
be damaged and an electric shock or fire may occur.

■Do not apply excessive force to the power plug.
●Damage to the power plug may cause electric shock or fire.
■
Do not insert or remove the power plug with wet hands.
●
There is a risk of electric shock or product failure
due to a short circuit.
■
Do not spill liquids on the product.
●
Do not spill liquids on the recliner’s electrical parts, such as the motors or handheld controller.
This could cause an electric shock due to a short circuit or product failure.
■Do not allow dust to accumulate on the power plug.
●
Dust on the power plug can absorb moisture and
conduct electricity, causing a short circuit and
possibly resulting in electric shock or fire.
●Wipe away any dust accumulating on the surface
of the power plug using a dry cloth.
■
Disconnect the power plug when moving the recliner.

●Damage to the power plug or cables may cause electric shock or fire.
■When moving the recliner with the IV Pole attachment mounted, watch your step.
●Your leg may bump into the IV Pole attachment hole or your foot may get caught, resulting in injury.
■Inspect the recliner regularly.
●
The product will exhibit wear and deterioration depending on the frequency of use and the
environment. Regularly inspect for the operation of moving parts, and the presence of damage
(see p. 26). The use sofa recliner in worn/deteriorated condition may result in unexpected injury.
■Do not attempt to repair or modify the product yourself.
●This may create unintended gaps or may cause abnormal operation, possibly causing injury.
■Request inspection and repair of damaged recliners.
●
If recliners are damaged in earthquakes, fires, or floods or other incidents, direct requests for contact
Paramount Bed or your distributor. Otherwise, there is a risk of electric shock or fire due to short
circuit or current leakage from electrical parts, or injury due to malfunctioning caused by
deformation of the recliner.
■Do not apply more than the safe working load on the recliner
●
The recliner could be damaged, possibly causing injury. The safe working load of this recliner is
2000N (204kgf). The safe working load is the maximum load with which the recliner can be
operated safely and is the total load of the user’s weight and incidental items including options.

The recliner should not be used by two or more persons.
●
This recliner is designed for use by one person.
When used by two or more persons, the recliner
could be damaged, possibly causing injury. The
maximum user weight allowed on the recliner is
138kg.
■
Keep away from heat or fire.
■
Do not use the recliner for infants or children.
●
This product is not designed for infants or small
children. The patient could get caught in the gap
between the armrest and other parts, or could fall off
the recliner, resulting in injury.
■Use the recliner according to the patient’s medical condition.
●
The recliner operations may adversely affect the medical conditions of patients with specific
symptoms. Before the patient operates the recliner, make sure that the physicians or nurses explain
details given in the instruction manual and proper usage to suit the patient’s medical condition.
■
Do not use the recliner in an environment where combustible anesthetic gases and
high-concentration oxygen may be present.
●
There is a risk of explosion or fire.
●
Do not use thermal appliances such as heaters near the recliner. Doing so could cause deterioration,
deformation, and fire.

Do not move the recliner with any objects placed on it.
●
If the recliner hits surrounding objects, the objects or
the recliner may be damaged.
■
Avoid transporting the recliner over uneven floors.

■Do not open the seat or armrest.
●It could cause deterioration of the urethane.
■Do not hold the belt for storing the handheld controller to operate the armrest.
●The belt for storing the handheld controller may get damaged.
■When adjusting the pillow height, do not forcefully pull the pillow.
●
The belt could be damaged, resulting in the pillow to come off. In addition, the weight could hit your
hands or other body parts, resulting in injury.
●
If care is not taken it could cause the recliner to malfunction, resulting in injury or recliner failure. In
addition, there is a risk of electric shock or fire due to a short circuit.
• Do not bump or damage the handheld controller.
• Do not drop the handheld controller or forcefully pull the cable.
●Request repair (or replacement) of electrical parts such as the handheld controller if they are damaged.
●
The objects may fall, resulting in injury, or could be
damaged.
●
Doing so could cause damage, deformation, or
malfunctioning of the recliner. If moving on uneven
floor is necessary, move the recliner as slow as
possible.
■
Do not hang objects other than the handheld controller on the belt for storing the
handheld controller.
●The belt for storing the handheld controller may get damaged.
■Check around the recliner before moving the recliner.
■
Take care when handling electrical parts such as the handheld controller.

■
To avoid possible malfunctions, do not install the recliner in the following
locations.
●
Locations expose to direct sunlight
●Locations near heat sources such as a stove or heater
●Location which is heavily electrically charged such as near an MRI.
●Location that has a high oxygen level
●Locations exposed to excessive amounts of water vapor or oil vapor
●Location that tend to be exposed to high temperatures, high humidity, low temperatures or
dry conditions
※The optimum ambient conditions for the recliner are as follows.
Temperature 5℃to 45℃/ Humidity 20%RH to 90%RH / Atmospheric pressure 700hPa to 1060hPa.
●Locations with large amount of dust, smoke, salt, sulfur, or corrosive substances
●Locations with poor ventilation
●Locations exposed to vibrations or shocks (including during transportaion)
●Locations where the floor is not strong enough
●Locations where the floor is not level

Place the recliner in a location where the recliner does not hit the wall or beam when you perform
backrest-raising/lowering operation or leg rest raising/lowering operation.
The recliner or wall/beam may be damaged or deformed.

CONNECTING TO THE POWER SUPPLY

Do not connect multiple cables to a single power outlet. if other
electrical equipment is plugged into a power outlet or an extension
cable and its rated capacity is exceeded, it could cause the cable or
plug to overheat, resulting in fire.
●Make sure the plug is easily accessible so it can be disconnected
quickly in an emergency.
●
Each recliner should be plugged into a separate,
appropriately wired, groundedpower outlet
and the power plug must be properly inserted
into the outlet.

The patient can lower the armrest to flat position when getting on or off the recliner.

The patient can also use the armrest as side-guard at flat position.

3. Handheld controller

Do not allow the recliner to be operated by a child aged 12 or under, or someone deemed incapable
of comprehending the operation of the recliner. If a child aged 12 or under, or someone deemed
incapable of comprehending the operation (such as persons with dementia) operates the handheld
controller by themselves, there is a risk of unexpected injury such as the body getting caught in the
recliner by accident. If such person can come into contact with the handheld controller, unplug the
power plug.
●
The angle of the back section base, the angle of the knee section base and the recliner height can be
smoothly adjusted with no increments by using the handheld controller. Pressing the button adjust
the recliner, and releasing the button stops adjustment, allowing you to adjust the recliner to the
desired position. Press the [↑] to raise the desired section and press [↓] button to lower the desired.

●The back and leg rest angle can be adjusted simultaneously.

[Storing the handheld controller]
●
Do not hold the belt for storing the handheld
controller to operate the armrest. The belt for
storing the handheld controller may get
damaged.

controller on the belt for storing the handheld
controller. The belt for storing the handheld
controller may get damaged.
●
The belts for storing the handheld controller are
located on the left and right sides of the recliner.
Use the belt on the side that is most convenient.

4. Moving the recliner
USING THE RECLINER

Lock all four casters at all times except when moving the recliner. The recliner could move when
a patient gets into or out of the recliner, possibly causing injury.
●
Do not forcibly move the recliner when casters are locked. Doing so could damage the casters or
casters could scratch the floor.
●
Avoid transporting the recliner over uneven floors. Doing so could cause damage, deformation, or
malfunctioning of the recliner. If moving on uneven floor is necessary, move the recliner as slow as
possible.
●
Do not move the recliner with any objects placed on it. The objects may fall, resulting in injury,
or could be damaged.
●
Inspect the caster regularly. Depending on the frequency of use and the environment, caster
will exhibit wear and deterioration. (High-temperature and high-humidity condition may
accelerate the deterioration.)
●
Raise the armrest. There is a risk of injury caused patient fall off from the recliner.

Before moving the recliner, operate the recliner as
described below.
Backrest: Raise to the highest position
Leg rest: Lower to the lowest position.

Unplug the power plug.
*Remove the IV Pole, if attached.
*Although you can move the recliner with the
IV Pole attachment hole, foot rest still attached,
take particular caution to avoid hitting the
surrounding objects.

Raise the armrest.
④
Move the pedal of the casters upward to unlock
the casters, and make sure that the casters rotate or
swivel smoothly. (four locations)

Hold the back frame inside the backrest and slowly
move the recliner.
⑥
Move the pedal of the casters downward to lock
the casters, and make sure that the casters do not
rotate or swivel.
●
Pay attention the patient's body and surrounding objects. There is a risk of injury caused by the person
falling off the recliner when moving the recliner.

5. Emergency back-lowering function
USING THE RECLINER

When performing the emergency back-lowering operation, take care to prevent body parts from
getting caught. When the body parts get caught, there is a risk of injury. In particular, before
performing the operation, check that nothing is caught in behind the backrest.
●
During manual emergency back-lowering operation, do not operate the handheld controller. Doing
so could damage the motor.
①
Use one hand to pull the emergency back-lowering
lever, and use the other hand to support the backrest.
●
Depending on the patient's weight or the angle
of the backrest, pulling the lever may not be
enough to get the backrest to lower. In this case,
use the other hand to push down on the backrest.
■Manual emergency back-lowering function
●
Use the emergency back-lowering lever to lower the backrest rapidly in case of emergency, such as
the patient fainting due to anemia or a similar condition or a power failure. There are levers on both
sides of the backrest, enabling lever operation from either the left or right side.
●
When performing manual emergency back-lowering, use one hand to operate the emergency back-
lowering lever, and use the other hand to support the backrest. Depending on the weight of the
patient sitting in the recliner, and on the angle of the backrest, the backrest may drop suddenly,
which could cause the patient to become injured.
●
This lever can only be used to lower the
backrest. To raise the backrest, use the
handheld controller.
②
Continue pulling the lever until the backrest has
come down to the suitable position. If you release
the lever halfway through, the back-lowering
operation is stopped.
The backrest can be lowered to a maximum of 8˚
(Trendelenburg position).

Unplug the power plug from the outlet immediately if there is a smoke or a strange smell or sound. If still
use it, may cause a short circuit, fire or electric shock. Please contact our support center or distributor that
you purchased the product.
Do not touch this product wit wet hand. It may cause electric shock or malfunction.
Do not apply liquids to this product or put foreign objects inside. If liquid or foreign object entered the
inside, please turn off unplug power plug from outlet. If still use it, it may cause a short circuit, fire or
electric shock. For any queries, please feel free to directly contact Paramount Bed or your distributor.
Always follow warning and caution instructions that specified by when installing and using this product.
Arrange the equipment so that small children hands can not reach the inside of electric appliances, cables
and connectors. There is a danger of injury because of touching.
When small children use electric products, please do it under adult supervision and guidance who
understood the handling method of this product.
Please remove the dirt of this product with a dry, clean cloth. If it gets dirty, please wipe it with a clean
cloth.
