Operating a retractable screen may result in a static discharge. A static discharge in the
presence of a flammable substance such as aerosol lubricant could cause ignition. To
avoid injury and/or property damage, do not use any flammable substance on a retractable screen.

CAUTION
1Installing the Screen:
A. From the interior position the Rolscreen Assembly at the head of the window.
B. While holding the assembly in position, install an attachment screw (be sure to use a
driver with #1 square head bit) at a slight angle up (~25° ) in the hole of the end cap on
each side of the assembly.

NOTICE: Be sure to use a #1 square head bit when installing or removing the attachment screws.

NOTE: Do Not remove cardboard shipping spacers
from guides until after the guides are
installed.
NOTE: The Rolscreen guides are handed; make
sure the profile of the bottom of each
guide properly aligns with the sill stop
profile.
C. Place the top of a Rolscreen guide against
the frame with pull bar weatherstrip in
the guide channel. (It may be necessary to
reposition the pull bar to facilitate proper
installation of the guide.)
Position the bottom of the guide against the
frame and on top of the sill.
NOTE: It is critical the exterior side of each guide channel be positioned in the Rolscreen
assembly end cap as shown and the bottom of each guide touch the sill stop and is
pressed firmly against the jamb stops.
D. While pressing the guide to the frame; install the guide screws beginning with the
bottom screw (be sure to use a driver with #1 square head bit). The number of screws will
vary depending on the height of the window.

Install the second guide, repeating steps 1C – 1D.

CAUTION
E. Remove guide shipping spacers; test the
closing operation of screen by pushing
down firmly with both hands towards the
ends of the screen bar and snapping the
bar into place at the sill.

2Cleaning the Screen:
A. Latch the screen in the closed position.
B. Vacuum the screen using an upholstery
brush attachment. If necessary, use the
exhaust attachment to blow debris off
the exterior side of the screen.

3Adjusting Roller Tension:
Roller Tension Adjustment - Option #1
(Typically used for minor tension adjustments):
A. With each hand near an end of the head cover, pull the bottom of the cover out and lift
cover up and off the screen assembly.

B. Make sure the screen is in the lowered/
closed position. 3B
C. Locate the gear on the left side of
the screen cartridge. Use a flat blade
screwdriver to push the gear so it clicks,
each click equals 1/8 of a turn of tension
addition, (8 clicks = 1 turn). Depending
on the width unit, the number of turns
(full rotations) required to add tension
will vary.

D. Re-install the head cover. Hook the cover
over the cartridge with the cover slot and
the end cap tab aligned, rotate the bottom
down and press near the ends until the
cover clicks into position.

Roller Tension Adjustment - Option #2
(Typically used when all the tension on the spring has been released):
E. Remove each screen guide from the window by removing the screen guide attachment
screws. Pull the bottom of the guide toward the center of the window, then pull it down to
release it from the end cap.
F. Remove the Rolscreen assembly by removing the attachment screws.

G. Locate the slotted end of the screen assembly; to
set the tensions - use a flat blade screwdriver to turn
the spring assembly in the direction of the arrows.
Depending on the width unit, the number of turns (full
rotations) required to re-tension when the tension is
released will vary:
Units with frame width of 20-3/4" or less require 11
turns for re-tensioning.
Units with frame width > 20-3/4" require 27 turns
for re-tensioning.
After the final rotation, turn the screwdriver back
slightly until resistance is felt indicating the spring
tension will hold. If resistance is felt immediately do
not force it back any further because the tensioning
mechanism could be damaged by too much force.
