Bestimmung
Die Auswerteeinheit PSE4-SC-01 wertet das Signal von
einer P+F PSE4 Sicherheitsschaltleiste aus. Die Auswerte-
einheit ist für den Einbau in einen Schaltschrank (IP54)
vorgesehen. Die Befestigung erfolgt auf einer Normschiene.
Mit der Betätigung einer Schaltleiste öffnet der Sicherheits-
kontakt der Auswerteeinheit. Die Auswerteeinheit erfüllt
die Anforderungen der EN ISO 13849-1:2015 Steuerungs-
kategorie 4. Die Auswerteeinheit darf nur mit einer Sen-
der-/Empfängereinheit PSE4-SL-XX

betrieben werden.
Sicherheitsbestimmungen
- Vor jeder Installation oder Wartung ist diese Betriebsan-
leitung und die Montageanleitung vollständig zu lesen.
- Alle Tätigkeiten der Installation, Inbetriebnahme und
Wartung sind von elektrotechnisch erfahrenem Per-
sonal vorzunehmen
- Das Sicherheitsschaltgerät darf nur von Personen instal-
liert und in Betrieb genommen werden, die mit dieser Be-
dienungsanleitung, den geltenden VDE-Vorschriften, den
Vorschriften über Arbeitssicherheit und Unfallverhütung
sowie den örtlichen Vorschriften (Schutzmaßnahmen)
vertraut sind. Die Gesamtsicherheit von Maschine und
Schutzeinrichtung ist von der Zuverlässigkeit der da-
zwischenliegenden Schnittstelle abhängig.
- Erschütterungen größer als 5 g/33 Hz (VDE 0160) sind
zu vermeiden.
- Austausch und Verwendung von nicht vom Hersteller
zugelassenen Komponenten können die Funktion der
Einrichtung beeinträchtigen. Durch Öffnen des Gehäuses
oder eigenmächtige Umbauten erlischt jegliche Gewähr-
leistung.
- Das Gerät muss in einem Schaltschrank (IP54) montiert
werden; Staub oder Feuchtigkeit können sonst zu Beein-
trächtigungen der Funktion führen.
- Auf ausreichende Schutzbeschaltung der Ausgangs-
kontakte bei kapazitiven und induktiven Lasten ist zu
achten.
- Die Freigabepfade sind nach DIN VDE 0110 Teil 1 sicher
getrennt bis 300 V.

Destination and use
The PSE4-SC-01evaluation unit evaluates the signal from
one P+F PSE4 safety edge. The evaluation unit is in-
tended for fitting inside a control panel (IP54). It is fixed by
fitting on a standard rail. When the safety edge is actu-
ated, the safety contact of the evaluation unit opens. The
evaluation unit fulfils the requirements of EN ISO 13849-
1:2015 to Control Category 4. It may only be operated
with the PSE4-SL-XX

sensor set.
Safety regulations
- Do read this technical instruction and the mounting
instruction carefully before installation or service.
- Installation and Service should be conducted through
experienced persons only.
- The unit should be installed and operated by persons,
who are familiar with these instructions and the current
regulations for safety at work and accident prevention.
Follow local regulations especially as regards preven-
tative measures. Safety level of machine and safety
equipment depends on reliability of the used interface.
- Avoid mechanical vibrations greater than 5 g/33 Hz both
when transporting and in operation.
- Replacement and use of components, which are not
certified by the producer may cause safety risk. Any
guarantee is void following opening of the housing or un-
authorised modifications.
- The unit should be panel mounted in an enclosure rated
at IP54 or better, otherwise dampness or dust could lead
to function impairment.
- Adequate fuse protection must be provided on all output
contacts with capacitive and inductive loads.
- The safety contacts are separated safely regarding to
DIN VDE 0110 part 1 up to 300 V.

Inbetriebnahme
Das Sicherheitsschaltgerät muss in einen Schaltschrank
(IP54) eingebaut werden. Zur Befestigung auf einer
Normschiene dient ein Rastelement auf der Rückseite des
Gerätes. Beachten Sie bei der Inbetriebnahme:
- Nur der Ausgangskontakt 14/24 ist ein Sicherheits-
kontakt. Um die Sicherheitsfunktion zu gewährleisten,
müssen beide Ausgangskanäle 13 und 23 gebrückt
werden oder die Auswertung der Signale muss zwei-
kanalig mit der angestrebten Sicherheitskategorie er-
folgen. Die Auswertung wird werkseitig mit einer Brücke
zwischen Ausgang 13 und 23 geliefert.
- Der Ausgangskontakt X1 ist ein Meldekontakt (z. B. für
eine Anzeige).
- Vor die Ausgangskontakte ist eine Sicherung (4 A
träge) zu schalten, um ein Verschweißen der Kontakte
zu verhindern.
- Es ist genügend Abstand zu Wärmequellen (> 20 cm)
einzuhalten.
- Der Schaltschrank muss die Forderungen der Schutz-
klasse IP54 erfüllen.
Anschlussvoraussetzungen:
- Leiterquerschnitt: 2 x 1,5 mm²
- Kapazität: 150 nF / km
- Widerstand: 28 / km
- Temperatur: +25 °C
Die Angaben im Abschnitt „Technische Daten“sind
unbedingt einzuhalten.

Installation
The safety relay must be panel mounted (IP54). There is
a notch on the rear of the unit for DIN-Rail attachment.
Please note for operation:
- Only the output contact 14/24 is a safety contact. To
guarantee the safety function, the output contacts 13/23
have to be connected serial. Otherwise the evaluation of
each signal has to be made in two channels for the
required safety category. The control unit is delivered
with a bridge connected to contacts 13/23.
- Output contact X1 is a signal contact only (e.g. for a
display), not a safety contact.
- To prevent a welding together of the contacts, a fuse (4 A
slow acting) must be connected before the output
contacts.
- Make sure that there is enough distance (> 20 cm)
within the service cabinet to a source of heat.
- A service cabinet with protection class IP54 is neces-
sary.
Cable runs:
- Cable: 2 x 1.5 mm²
- Capacitance: 150 nF / km
- Resistance: 28 / km
- Temperature: +25 °C

noted and adhered to.

Wirkungsweise
Nach Zuschalten der Betriebsspannung ist der Sicher-
heitskontakt 14/24 geöffnet, der Meldekontakt X1 ist
hochohmig. Zum Start des Gerätes muss der Reset-
Taster mindestens 1,5 Sekunden betätigt werden. Die
Relais K1, K2 ziehen an, wenn der Lichtweg im Profil frei
ist. Nach Loslassen des Reset-Tasters bzw. Unterbre-
chung der Verbindung zwischen X2 und X3 bleiben die
Relais K1, K2 in Selbsthaltung. Der Maschinenfreigabe-
kreis 14/24 ist geschlossen und X1 wird niederohmig.
Wird der Lichtweg im Profil unterbrochen, wird der Ma-
schinenfreigabekreis 14/24 unterbrochen. Ist der Lichtweg
wieder frei, erfolgt ein erneuter Start durch Betätigung des
Reset-Tasters.
Der Sicherheitsausgang (14/24) des Auswertegeräts
PSE4-SC-01 in Kombination mit dem Sensorelement
kann beim Betätigen der Schaltleiste und anschließendem
langsamen Entspannen des Gummiprofils im ausgeschal-
teten Zustand verharren. Eine Freischaltung kann durch
Betätigen des Reset Eingangs (X2-X3) bei entspanntem
Gummiprofil wieder eingeschaltet werden.
Diese Eigenschaft gefährdet zu keinem Zeitpunkt die
Sicherheit der Anlage, da die Schaltausgänge im sicheren
AUS-Zustand verharren.
Anschlussverbindung
- Betriebsspannung an Klemmen A1(+) und A2(-) an-
legen.
- Rückstellungskreis schließen (Klemme X2-X3, siehe
Abschnitt „Reset-Verhalten“ für Details).
- Sender und Empfänger anschließen:
Anschlüsse braun, weiß, grün vom Sender und Emp-
fänger (PSE4-SL-XX

) an bn, wh, gn anschließen.
- Sicherheitsausgang in den Maschinenkreis einbinden
(Klemme 14/24).
- Signalausgang X1 ist kein Sicherheitsausgang und darf
nur als Meldekontakt genutzt werden (npn´open-
Collector´).

Operation mode
When power is first applied there is no path through the
safety contact 14/24. The auxiliary signal contact X1 is
high resistive. When the start/reset switch was minimum
1.5 seconds closed, relay K1 and K2 close, when the light
beam in the profile is “connected”. When the start/reset
switch is released, the path through the safety contacts is
established. The safety contact 14/24 is closed and X1 is
low resistive. When the light beam in the profile is “inter-
rupted”, the contact 14/24 will open the machine safety
circuit. If the light beam is “connected” again, the
start/reset switch is used for a new start.
The safety output (14/24) of the control unit PSE4-SC-01
may remain in an open position if the safety edge re-
leased slowly. A reclosing of the safety contact will occur,
immediately after an external Reset (X2-X3) if the safety
edge is unactuated.
This characteristic is at no time a danger to the safety of
the whole installation, because the safety output is always
open during this state of operation.
Connection details
- Power supply to terminals A1(+) and A2(-).
- Connect the start/reset interlock circuit: (clamp X2-X3),
for details see “Reset details”).
- Connect the transmitter and receiver (PSE4-SL-XX

- Connect the safety output (clamp 13/14) into the
machine safety circuit.
- Auxiliary signal output X1 (non safe) is a npn-`open-
collector`.

Reset-Verhalten
Manueller Reset:
Der externe manuelle Reset (Anschluss an die Klemmen
X2-X3) muss den Anforderungen der EN ISO 13856-
2:2013 (Zustandsdiagramm A2) und der EN ISO 13849-
1:2015 entsprechen und durch die übergeordnete
Maschinensteuerung gewährleistet werden.
Automatischer Reset:
Durch eine Brücke an den Klemmen X2-X3 erfüllt das
System die Anforderungen der EN ISO 13856-2:2013 (Zu-
standsdiagramm A3). Der Sicherheitskontakt schließt 14/24
sofort nach optischer Wiederfreigabe des Signalgebers.
Der manuelle Reset darf nur durch ein potentialfreies
Verbinden der Klemmen X2-X3 erfolgen. Insbesondere
dürfen keine externen Spannungsversorgungen an eine
der beiden Klemmen angelegt werden.
Reset details
Manual reset:
The reset signal (normal open safety-switch, connected to
X2-X3) has to fulfil the requirements of the EN ISO 13856-
2:2013 (figure A2) and EN ISO 13849-1:2015 and has to
be guaranteed by the higher order machine control
system.
Automatic reset:
The bridged reset fulfils the requirements of the
EN ISO 13856-2:2013 (figure A3). The safety contact
14/24 will close immediately after the signaling element is
unactuated.
The manual reset has to be realized by a potential-free
connection of the terminal X2-X3 only. In particular, no
external voltage at one of the two terminals is allowed.

Wartung der Schaltleiste
Im Rahmen der Inbetriebnahme und der regelmäßigen
Wartungen der Maschine sollte die Schaltleiste von einem
Sachkundigen in folgenden Punkten überprüft werden:
1. Sichtprüfung des Signalgebers
Begutachtung der Signalgeberoberfläche und ihrer An-
schlüsse, um sicherzustellen, dass keine Schäden verur-
sacht wurden, die den bestimmungsgemäßen Betrieb
verhindern.
2. Sichtprüfung der Signalübertragung
Begutachtung der Anschlüsse, um sicherzustellen, dass
keine Veränderungen vorgenommen wurden oder Schäden
vorliegen, die sich nachteilig auf das System auswirken.
3. Sichtprüfung der Signalauswertung
Begutachtung des Gehäuses, ob dies im guten Zustand
und geschlossen ist. Begutachtung der Anschlüsse, um
sicherzustellen, dass keine Veränderungen vorgenommen
wurden oder Schäden vorliegen, die sich nachteilig auf
das System auswirken.
4. Funktionsprüfung der Schaltleiste
Betätigung des Signalgebers an mehreren beliebigen Posi-
tionen bei stehender Maschine. Die Empfindlichkeit der
Schaltleiste sollte über die gesamte wirksame Betätigungs-
fläche gegeben sein. Kontrolle der LED in der Auswertung.
Betätigung der Schaltleiste bei bewegter Maschine muss
zum Anhalten führen. Bei Toren muss eine Reversierung
eingeleitet werden. Der Wiederanlauf der gefahrbringen-
den Teile sollte nicht möglich sein, bis die Sicherheits-
funktion wiederhergestellt wurde.
Maintenance of the safety edge
In the context of the start-up and the regular maintenance of
the machine the safety edge should be checked by skilled
persons in the following points:
1. Visual inspection of the signaling element:
Inspection of the surface and the connections to guarantee
that no damage was caused which prevents the intended
operation.
2. Visual inspection of the signal transmission:
Inspection of the connections to guarantee that no damage
was caused and no modification was made which prevents
the intended operation.
3. Visual inspection of the control unit:
The housing has to be closed and should be in a good state.

4. Test of the safety edge:
Actuation of the signaling element at several positions with
standing machine. The sensitivity of the safety edge should
be given over the entire sensing surface. A check of the
LEDs in the control unit should be performed.
Actuation of the signaling element with moving machine. A
stop must be executed. Regarding gates, a reversion must be
initiated. The restart of the machine should not be possible
until the safety function was restored.
