This is the safety alert symbol. It is used to alert you to potential personal injury hazards. Obey all

• Do not short circuit, dispose of in fire, or expose to water. When batteries are stored or
disposed, they must be protected from shorting. Dispose of used batteries properly.
• Not for use with aggressive dogs. Do not use this product if your dog is prone to aggressive
behaviour. Aggressive dogs can cause severe injury or death to their owners and others. If you are not sure
that this product is right for your dog, please talk to your veterinarian or a certified trainer.
• Safety during on-lead training: It is vitally important that you and your dog remain safe during on-
lead training. Your dog should be on a strong lead, long enough for him to attempt to chase an object, but
short enough for him not to reach a road or other unsafe area. You must also be physically strong enough to
restrain your dog when he tries to chase.
• This pet training device is not a toy, keep away from children.
• Risk of skin damage: Please read and follow the instructions in this guide. Proper fit of the collar is
important. A collar worn for too long or made too tight on the pet's neck may cause skin damage. Ranging
from redness to pressure ulcers; this condition is commonly known as bed sores.
• Avoid leaving the collar on the dog for more than 12 hours per day.
• When possible reposition the collar on the pet's neck every 1 to 2 hours.
• Check the fit to prevent excessive pressure; follow the instructions in this guide.
• Never connect a lead to the electronic collar; it will cause excessive pressure on the contacts.
• When using a separate collar for a lead, do not put pressure on the electronic collar.
• Wash the dog's neck area and the contacts of the collar weekly with a damp cloth.
• Examine the contact area daily for signs of a rash or a sore.
• If a rash or sore is found, discontinue use of the collar until the skin has healed.
• If the condition persists beyond 48 hours, see your veterinarian.

These steps will help keep your pet secure and comfortable. Millions of pets are comfortable while they wear
stainless steel contacts. Some pets are sensitive to contact pressure. You may find after some time that your
pet is very tolerant of the collar. If so, you may relax some of these precautions. It is important to continue daily
checks of the contact area. If redness or sores are found, discontinue use until the skin has fully healed.
The PetSafe®SMART DOG™Trainer must be used only with healthy dogs. We recommend that you take your
dog to a veterinarian before using the product if he is not in good health.
Only let responsible family members use the SMART DOG™Trainer. It is not a toy.

The SMART DOG™Trainer App requires a Bluetooth®4.0 compatible phone with one of the
following operating systems:
• iOS 8 or later
• Android™5 or later
Fit the Training Collar
Important: The proper fit and placement of your training collar is important for effective operation. The contact
points must have direct contact with your dog's skin on the underside of his neck.
To assure a proper fit, please follow these steps:
1. Make sure that the training collar is turned off.
2. Start with your dog standing comfortably (A).
3. Place the training collar on your pet so that the PetSafe®logo is right side up and the
training collar is directly under your dog's chin. Centre the contact points underneath
your dog's neck, touching the skin (B). NOTE: It is
sometimes necessary to trim the hair around the contact
points to make sure that contact is consistent. Longer
contact points are also included.
4. Check the tightness of the training collar by inserting one
finger between the end of a contact point and your dog's
neck (C). The fit should be snug but not constricting.
5. Allow your dog to wear the training collar for several minutes then recheck the fit.
Check the fit again as your dog becomes more comfortable with the training collar.
6. Trim the training collar as follows (D):
A. Mark the desired length of the training collar with a pen. Allow for growth if your pet
is young or grows a thick winter coat.
B. Remove the training collar from your pet and cut off the
excess and seal the edge of the cut collar by applying a
flame along the frayed edge.
Do not shave the pet's neck as this may increase the risk of skin irritation. The training
collar should not be worn for more than 12 hours out of every 24-hour period. Leaving
the collar on too long could lead to skin irritation.

Connect the Training Collar with the App
1. Your training collar will be partially charged. You'll want to fully charge it before beginning training. Press
and hold the on/off button to turn on. You will hear a beep and the green LED will begin blinking. Your
training collar is now on.
2. Ensure the Bluetooth®feature on your smartphone or tablet is turned on.
3. Download the free PetSafe®SMART DOG™Trainer App.
4. Locate and open the app on your smartphone. Next, choose “Connect to a Collar” and the
SMART DOG™Trainer App will locate your collar. Press Connect.
5. Next, you should assign a PIN (personal identification number). This is a security feature to ensure that
other devices will not connect to your training collar. NOTE: The same PIN can be used on multiple phones
in the same household. However, they cannot be used simultaneously. The SMART DOG™Trainer can only
operate with one Bluetooth®connection.
6. Your SMART DOG™training collar and app are now ready to use. For easy access to your app, place it on
the home screen of your smartphone.
To Turn the Training Collar Off
1. Press and hold the on/off button until the training collar beeps high to low, and then release. The red LED
will be illuminated during the button press and will turn off when the training collar turns off.
Quick Tip: When you are not using the collar, you should turn it off. This will increase the battery
life of your training collar.
Using the App
Tone Button: Delivers a tone with non-adjustable volume to the collar.
Vibration Button: Sends 1 non-adjustable level of vibration stimulation to the collar.
Static Button: Delivers 1–15 levels of static stimulation to the collar that can be adjusted with the
Static Level Adjuster.
Remote Icon: The training buttons are displayed and ready to use. This icon also indicates the
app is connected to the training collar.
Settings Icon: Allows you to change settings including button orientation and primary stimulation
method.
Help Icon: Provides detailed SMART DOG™Trainer App instructions, tips for training your dog
and links to the complete Operating Guide and training videos.
Training Collar Battery Indicator: Indicates the amount of battery life remaining in the
training collar.
NOTE: To extend the life between charging cycles, turn the training collar off when it is not in use.

Test the Training Collar
We recommend you experience first-hand how the static stimulation functions. Always begin at the lowest level
and increase the intensity up to your personal comfort level.
1. Place one finger over both contact points of the training collar.
2. Hold your smartphone approximately 0.5 metres from the training collar. Starting at level 1 on the
static level adjuster, press the static button continuously for 1 to 2 seconds. At this level you may not feel
the stimulation. Note: Continuous stimulation will transmit for no more than 10 continuous seconds. To
reactivate, release and repress the button.
3. Increase the level on the static level adjuster until the sensation begins to feel uncomfortable.
Marking Positive Behaviours with Tone
You can use the SMART DOG™Trainer to either mark positive behaviours or negative behaviours, but definitely
not both! If you decide to use tone to mark positive behaviours, never confuse your dog by also marking
negative behaviours with tone. If you use a PetSafe®containment system, you should only use tone to mark
negative behaviours, as your dog is conditioned to associate tone with a stimulation if they do not retreat from
their boundary.
If you decide to use tone to mark positive behaviour, spend 10 to 15 minutes per day for 2 or 3 days helping
your dog to associate the tone with reward and praise. Do this before beginning training with vibration or static:
1. Push the tone button for 2 consecutive seconds.
2. Release the button and immediately reward your pet with verbal praise, petting or a small food reward.
Spend 3 to 5 seconds on your rewarding.
3. Wait a few minutes and repeat holding the tone button for 2 seconds following with praise.
4. Vary the reward to prevent your pet from anticipating a specific type. This stage of training is complete
when your pet obviously anticipates a reward when he hears the tone.
Find the Best Stimulation Level for Your Pet
Important: Always start at the lowest level and work your way up.
The SMART DOG™Trainer has 1 tone, 1 vibration, and 15 static stimulation levels. This allows you to choose
the stimulation level that is best for your pet. We recommend training with tone and vibration, or the lower levels
of static stimulation when needed. In most cases static levels 1–7 will be adequate for your training needs.
Levels 8–15 are red as a reminder that you are moving to higher stimulation levels.
Once you have placed the training collar on your pet, it is time to find the “recognition level”. The “recognition
level” is the stimulation level that your dog begins to notice. It should not make your pet uncomfortable. Your pet
should NOT vocalise or panic when receiving stimulation. If this happens, the stimulation is too high and you
need to go back to the previous level.
Follow the steps below to find your pet's recognition level:
1. Choose the vibration button and press continuously for 1 to 2 seconds.
2. If your pet shows no reaction, repeat this several times before moving to static stimulation.
3. Starting at Level 1 on the static level adjuster, press the stimulation button continuously for 1 to 2 seconds.
4. If your pet shows no reaction, repeat this stimulation level several times before moving up to the next level.
5. YOUR PET SHOULD NOT VOCALISE OR PANIC WHEN RECEIVING STIMULATION. IF THIS
HAPPENS, THE STIMULATION LEVEL IS TOO HIGH AND YOU NEED TO GO BACK TO THE
PREVIOUS LEVEL AND REPEAT THE PROCESS.
6. Move up through the static stimulation levels until your pet reliably responds to the stimulation.
7. If your pet continues to show no response at Level 15, check the fit of the training collar. See “Fit the Training
Collar” section. You might also want to test it on your hand to ensure the collar is working.
If all of these steps have been done and your pet continues to show no reaction to the stimulation, please

Battery Disposal
See Important Safety Information on page 2 related to the battery.
Separate collection of spent batteries is required in many regions; check the regulations in your area.
Lithium Manganese Dioxide Coin Cell contains flammable materials, such as organic solvents. Improper
battery handling may cause leakage, heating, explosion or ignition of the battery, which may lead to injury.
Excessive heating may cause deformation of the gasket, leakage or performance deterioration of the battery.
• When removing the old battery pack, care must be taken when gripping the connector firmly to avoid
damaging the wires. Shorting the battery wires may cause fire or explosion.
• These instructions are not valid for repair or battery replacement. Replacing the battery with a battery
not specifically approved by Radio Systems Corporation may cause fire or explosion. Please call the
Customer Care Centre to avoid invalidating your warranty.
Important Recycling Advice
Please respect the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment regulations in your country. This equipment must
be recycled. If you no longer require this equipment, do not place it in the normal municipal waste system.
Please return it to where it was purchased in order that it can be placed in our recycling system. If this is not
possible, please contact the Customer Care Centre for further information. For a listing of Customer Care

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with relevant R&TTE Directives. Before using this equipment
outside the EU countries, check with the relevant local R&TTE authority. Unauthorised changes or modifications

could void the user's authority to operate the equipment, and void the warranty.

Terms of Use and Limitation of Liability

Use of this Product is subject to your acceptance without modification of the terms, conditions and notices
contained herein. Use of this Product implies acceptance of all such terms, conditions and notices. If you
do not wish to accept these terms, conditions, and notices, please return the Product, unused, in its original
packaging and at your own cost and risk to the relevant Customer Care Centre together with proof of
purchase for a full refund.
2. Proper Use
This Product is designed for use with dogs where training is desired. The specific temperament or size/
weight of your dog may not be suitable for this Product (please refer to “How the System Works” in the
Operating Guide). Radio Systems Corporation recommends that this Product is not used if your dog
is aggressive and accepts no liability for determining suitability in individual cases. If you are unsure
whether this Product is appropriate for your dog, please consult your veterinarian or certified trainer prior
to use. Proper use includes, without limitation, reviewing the entire Operating Guide and any specific
safety information.
3. No Unlawful or Prohibited Use
This Product is designed for use with dogs only. This dog tracking and training device is not intended to
harm, injure or provoke. Using this Product in a way that is not intended could result in violation of Federal,
State or local laws.
4. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall Radio Systems Corporation or any of its associated companies be liable for (i) any
indirect, punitive, incidental, special or consequential damage and/or (ii) any loss or damages whatsoever
arising out of or connected with the misuse of this Product. The Purchaser assumes all risks and liability from
the use of this Product to the fullest extent permissible by law.
5. Modification of Terms and Conditions
Radio Systems Corporation reserves the right to change the terms, conditions and notices governing this
Product from time to time. If such changes have been notified to you prior to your use of this Product, they
shall be binding on you as if incorporated herein.

Australia/New Zealand – In compliance with the Australian Consumer Law, Warranties Against
Defects, effective January 1, 2012, warranty details of this Product are as follows: Radio Systems Australia Pty
Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Radio Systems”) warrants to the original retail purchaser, and not any other
purchaser or subsequent owner, that its Product, when subject to normal and proper residential use, will be free
from defects in material or workmanship for a period of three (3) years from the purchase date. An “original
retail consumer purchaser” is a person or entity who originally purchases the Product, or a gift recipient of
a new Product that is unopened and in its original packaging. When serviced by Radio Systems Customer
Service, Radio Systems covers labour and parts for the first three years of ownership; after the first three years,
a service or upgrade charge will apply relative to replacement of the Product with new or refurbished items at
Radio Systems' sole discretion.
The limited warranty is non-transferable and shall automatically terminate if the original retail consumer
purchaser resells the Radio Systems Product or transfers the property on which the Radio Systems Product is
installed. This Limited Warranty excludes accidental damage due to dog chews; lightning damage; or neglect,
alteration, and misuse. Consumers who purchase products outside of Australia, New Zealand, or from an
unauthorised dealer will need to return the Product to the original place of purchase for any warranty issues.
Pease note that Radio Systems does not provide refunds, replacements, or upgrades for change of mind, or for
any other reason outside of these Warranty terms.

To file a claim, a proof of purchase must be provided. Without a proof of purchase, Radio Systems will not
repair or replace faulty components. Radio Systems requests the Consumer to contact the Radio Systems
Customer Care Centre to obtain a Warranty Return number, prior to sending the Product. Failure to do so may
delay in the repair or replacement of the Product.
If the Product is deemed to be faulty within 30 days from date of original purchase, Radio Systems will organise
for a replacement to be sent in advance of returning the faulty Product. A Post Bag will be included with the
replacement Product for the return of the faulty Product. The Product must be returned within 7 days of receiving
the replacement. If the Product is deemed to be faulty after 30 days from the date of original purchase, the
consumer will be required to return the Product to Radio Systems at the consumer's own expense. Radio Systems
will test and replace the faulty unit or its components and return to the consumer free of charge, provided the
Product is within its said warranty period. This warranty is in addition to other rights and remedies available to
you under the law. Radio Systems goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australia
Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any
other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if
the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Ajuster le collier de dressage
Important : Il est important que le collier de dressage soit bien ajusté pour garantir son bon fonctionnement. Les
contacteurs doivent être directement en contact avec la peau de votre chien, au niveau de la partie inférieure
du cou.
Pour que le collier soit bien ajusté, veuillez suivre les étapes ci-dessous :
1. Assurez-vous que le collier de dressage soit arrêté.
2. Commencez alors que votre chien se tient confortablement debout (A).
3. Positionnez le collier de dressage sur votre animal de façon à ce que le logo PetSafe®
soit visible à l'endroit et que le collier de dressage se trouve directement sous le
menton de votre chien. Centrez les contacteurs en dessous
du cou de votre chien, en contact avec la peau (B).
REMARQUE : Il est parfois nécessaire de couper les poils
autour des contacteurs pour garantir un contact efficace.
Des contacteurs plus longs sont également inclus.
4. Vérifiez l'ajustement du collier de dressage en insérant un
doigt entre l'extrémité des contacteurs et le cou de votre
chien (C). L'ajustement doit être serré mais ne doit pas comprimer.
5. Laissez votre chien porter le collier de dressage pendant quelques minutes, puis
vérifiez de nouveau le réglage. Lorsque votre chien s'est habitué au collier de
dressage, vérifiez de nouveau s'il est bien ajusté.
6. Coupez le collier de dressage comme indiqué ci-après (D) :
A. Marquez la longueur souhaitée du collier de dressage avec
un stylo. Laissez une longueur suffisante si votre animal n'a pas
encore atteint sa taille adulte ou si son poil épaissit en hiver.
B. Retirez le collier de dressage de votre animal et couper
l'excédent puis scellez l'extrémité coupée du collier en
passant une flamme le long du côté effiloché.
Ne rasez pas le cou de l'animal car cela peut augmenter le risque d'irritation de la
peau. Le collier de dressage ne doit pas être porté plus de 12 heures par période de
24 heures. Un port excessif du collier risque d'entraîner une irritation de la peau.

Connecter le collier de dressage avec l'application
1. Le collier de dressage doit être partiellement chargé. Avant de commencer le dressage, vous devriez
intégralement. Appuyez brièvement sur l'interrupteur marche/arrêt pour le mettre en fonction. Un bip sonore
est émis et la LED verte commence à clignoter. Le collier de dressage est maintenant en fonction.
2. Vérifiez que la fonctionnalité Bluetooth®est active sur votre smartphone ou votre tablette.
3. Téléchargez l'application de dressage gratuite PetSafe®SMART DOG™.
4. Trouvez et ouvrez l'application sur votre smartphone. Ensuite choisissez « Connecter à un collier » et
l'application SMART DOG™va trouver votre collier de dressage. Appuyer sur Connection.
5. Vous choisirez ensuite un code PIN (numéro d'identification personnel). Cette mesure de sécurité garanti
qu'aucun autre appareil ne pourra se connecter à votre collier de dressage. REMARQUE : Le même code
PIN peut être utilisé sur plusieurs téléphones du même foyer. Il est cependant impossible de les utiliser
simultanément. Le dispositif de dressage SMART DOG™fonctionne avec une connexion Bluetooth®unique.
6. Votre collier de dressage SMART DOG™et l'application sont maintenant prêts à l'emploi. Pour accéder
facilement à l'application, placez-là sur l'écran d'accueil de votre téléphone.
Pour mettre le collier de dressage à l'arrêt
1. Appuyez brièvement sur l'interrupteur marche/arrêt jusqu'à ce que le collier de dressage émette un bip
sonore dégressif et relâchez-le. La LED rouge reste allumée pendant que le bouton est enfoncé et s'éteindra
lorsque le collier de dressage sera arrêté.
Petite astuce : Lorsque le collier de dressage n'est pas utilisé, il faut l'arrêter. Cela augmente
l'autonomie de la batterie.

Utiliser l'application
Bouton signal sonore : Envoie au collier de dressage un signal sonore dont le volume n'est
pas réglable.
Bouton de vibration : Envoie au collier de dressage 1 niveau de stimulation par vibration qui
n'est pas réglable.
Bouton électrostatique : Envoie au collier de dressage une stimulation électrostatique de
niveau 1 à 15 qui peut être ajusté avec l'outil d'ajustement du niveau électrostatique.
Icone télécommande : Les boutons de dressage sont affichés et prêts à l'emploi. Cette icone
indique également que l'application est connectée au collier de dressage.
Icone paramètres : Permet de modifier les paramètres y compris l'orientation des boutons et la
méthode de stimulation principale.
Icone aide : Donne des instructions détaillées d'utilisation de l'application SMART DOG™, des
astuces pour le dressage de votre chien et des liens vers le manuel d'utilisation complet et des
vidéos de dressage.
Indicateur de batterie du collier de dressage : Indique l'autonomie de la batterie
restante dans le collier de dressage.
REMARQUE : Pour allonger l'autonomie de la batterie entre les charges, arrêtez le collier de
dressage lorsqu'il n'est pas utilisé.
Tester le collier de dressage
Nous vous recommandons de découvrir par vous-même la manière dont la stimulation électrostatique
fonctionne. Commencez toujours au niveau d'intensité le plus faible et augmentez l'intensité jusqu'à atteindre
votre niveau de confort personnel.
1. Positionner un doigt sur les deux contacteurs du collier de dressage.
2. Tenez votre smartphone à environ 0,5 mètres du collier de dressage. En commençant au niveau 1 de la
stimulation électrostatique, maintenez le bouton de stimulation pendant 1 à 2 secondes. Il est possible,
à ce niveau, que vous ne ressentiez pas la stimulation. Remarque : Une stimulation continue ne sera pas
envoyée pendant plus de 10 secondes consécutives. Pour la réactiver relâchez et pressez le bouton à
nouveau.
3. Augmentez l'intensité de la stimulation électrostatique jusqu'à ce que la sensation commence à être
désagréable.
Indiquer les comportements positifs par un signal sonore
Vous pouvez utiliser le dispositif de dressage SMART DOG™pour indiquer des comportements positifs
ou négatifs mais absolument pas les deux ! Si vous décide d'utiliser le signal sonore pour indiquer les
comportements positifs, ne perturbez pas votre chien en indiquant également les comportements négatifs avec
le signal sonore. Si vous utilisez un système anti-fugue PetSafe®, vous devriez utiliser le signal sonore pour
marquer uniquement les comportements négatifs puisque votre chien est conditionné a associer le signal sonore
avec une stimulation s'il ne respecte pas les limites.
Si vous décidez d'utiliser le signal sonore pour indiquer les comportements positifs, passer 10 à 15 minutes
par jour pendant 2 ou 3 jours pour aider votre chien à associer le signal sonore avec les compliments et les
récompenses. Faites cela avant de commencer le dressage avec les vibrations ou la stimulation électrostatique :
1. Appuyez sur le bouton de signal sonore pendant 2 secondes consécutives.
2. Relâchez le bouton et récompensez immédiatement votre animal à l'aide de compliments, de caresses ou
d'une petite friandise. Passez 3 à 5 secondes à le récompenser.
3. Attendez quelques minutes et répétez l'opération : appuyez sur le bouton de signal sonore pendant
2 secondes puis complimentez votre chien.
4. Variez la récompense pour éviter que votre animal n'attende une récompense spécifique. Cette étape du
dressage est terminée lorsque votre animal attend visiblement d'obtenir une récompense lorsqu'il entend le
signal sonore.

Trouver le meilleur niveau de stimulation pour votre chien
Important : Commencez toujours par le niveau le plus bas avant d'augmenter progressivement.
Le dispositif de dressage SMART DOG™dispose de 1 stimulation par signal sonore, 1 stimulation par vibration
et 15 niveaux de stimulation électrostatique. Ceci vous permet de choisir le type de stimulation qui convient le
mieux à votre animal. Nous recommandons le dressage avec le signal sonore et la stimulation par vibration ou
les niveaux les plus bas de stimulation électrostatique si nécessaire. Dans la plupart des cas les niveaux 1 à 7
de stimulation électrostatique sont adaptés à vos besoins de dressage. Les niveaux 8 à 15 sont en rouge pour
vous indiquer que vous allez vers des niveaux de stimulation plus élevés.
Lorsque que vous avez installé le collier de dressage sur votre animal, c'est le moment de chercher le « niveau
de reconnaissance ». Le « niveau de reconnaissance » est le niveau de stimulation que votre chien commence
à percevoir. Il ne doit pas mettre votre animal mal à l'aise. Votre animal ne doit PAS crier ou paniquer lorsqu'il
reçoit la stimulation. SI cela se produit, la stimulation est trop forte et vous devez revenir au niveau précédent.
Suivez les étapes ci-dessous pour connaître le niveau de reconnaissance de votre animal :
1. Choisir le bouton de vibration et le maintenir pendant 1 à 2 secondes.
2. Si votre animal ne présente aucune réaction, répétez la stimulation à ce niveau plusieurs fois avant de
passer a la stimulation électrostatique.
3. En commençant au niveau 1 de la stimulation électrostatique, maintenez le bouton de stimulation pendant
1 à 2 secondes.
4. Si votre animal ne présente aucune réaction, répétez la stimulation à ce niveau plusieurs fois avant de
passer au niveau supérieur.
5. VOTRE ANIMAL NE DOIT PAS CRIER OU PANIQUER LORSQU'IL REÇOIT LA STIMULATION; SI
C'EST LE CAS, LE NIVEAU DE STIMULATION ÉLECTROSTATIQUE EST TROP ÉLEVÉ ET VOUS DEVEZ
REDESCENDRE D'UN NIVEAU AVANT DE RENOUVELER L'OPÉRATION.
6. Passez les niveaux de stimulation électrostatique jusqu'à ce que votre animal réponde à coup sûr à la
stimulation.
7. Si votre animal continue à ne montrer aucune réponse au niveau 15, vérifiez que le collier de dressage
est bien ajusté. Voir la section « Ajuster le collier de dressage » Vous pouvez également tester le collier sur
votre main pour vérifier qu'il fonctionne.
Si toutes ces étapes sont terminées et que votre animal continue à ne montrer aucune réaction aux stimulations,
merci de contacter le service clientèle.
Élimination des batteries usagées
Consultez les consignes de sécurité importantes concernant les batteries, page 15.
La collecte sélective des batteries usagées est exigée dans de nombreux pays ; renseignez-vous sur les
réglementations locales en vigueur avant d'éliminer les batteries usagées.
La pile bouton au lithium dioxyde de manganèse contient des matériaux inflammables comme des solvants
organiques. Une mauvaise manipulation de la batterie peut entraîner une fuite, la surchauffe, l'explosion ou la
combustion de la batterie et conduire à des blessures. Une chaleur excessive peut causer la déformation du
boîtier, des fuites ou une baisse de performance de la batterie.
• Au moment de retirer le bloc de batteries usagé, veillez à tenir fermement le connecteur pour ne pas
endommager les fils. Risque d'incendie ou d'explosion si les fils de la batterie sont court-circuités.
• Ces instructions ne sont pas valables pour la réparation ou le remplacement des batteries. Il existe
un risque d'incendie ou d'explosion si la batterie est remplacée par une batterie autre que celles

• Risico op huidbeschadiging: Lees de instructies in deze handleiding door en volg deze op. Een juiste
pasvorm van de halsband is belangrijk. Wanneer een halsband te lang gedragen wordt of te strak om de
nek van het huisdier zit, kan deze beschadiging van de huid veroorzaken. Deze aandoening kan variëren
van roodheid tot drukzweren en is algemeen bekend als een doorligwond.
• Laat uw hond de halsband nooit langer dan 12 uur per dag dragen.
• Positioneer de halsband, indien mogelijk, elke 1 tot 2 uur anders om de nek van het huisdier.

De trainingshalsband passen
Belangrijk: Een correcte pasvorm en plaatsing van de trainingshalsband is belangrijk voor een effectieve
training. De contactpunten moeten rechtstreeks contact maken met de huid van uw hond in zijn hals.
Volg de onderstaande stappen om de pasvorm van de halsband aan te passen:
1. Controleer of de trainingshalsband uit staat.
2. Start met uw hond in een comfortabele staande houding (A).
3. Doe de trainingshalsband zo om bij uw huisdier dat het PetSafe®-logo omhoog
gericht is en de trainingshalsband direct onder de kin van uw hond is geplaatst. De
contactpunten moeten aan de onderzijde van de nek van
uw hond zitten en contact maken met de huid (B).
OPMERKING: Soms is het noodzakelijk om het haar rond
de contactpunten bij te knippen, om zeker te zijn van een

4. Controleer hoe strak de trainingshalsband zit door één
vinger tussen het uiteinde van een contactpunt en de hals van uw hond te steken (C).
De halsband moet redelijk strak zijn, maar mag de hond niet verstikken.
5. Laat uw hond de trainingshalsband een paar minuten dragen en controleer de
pasvorm dan nog een keer. Controleer de pasvorm na een tijdje nogmaals, als uw
hond gewend raakt aan de trainingshalsband.
6. Snij de trainingshalsband als volgt op maat (D):
A. Markeer de gewenste lengte van de trainingshalsband met
een pen. Laat voldoende ruimte voor groei wanneer uw
huisdier nog jong is of een dikke wintervacht krijgt.
B. Verwijder de trainingshalsband van uw huisdier en knip het
overtollige deel af. Seal de rand van de afgeknipte halsband
door een vlam te houden bij de rafelende rand.
Scheer de nek van de hond niet want dat vergroot de kans op huidirritatie. Laat
de hond de trainingshalsband nooit langer dan 12 uur per 24 uur dragen. Als u
de halsband te lang om laat, kan dit leiden tot huidirritatie.

Verbinding tot stand brengen tussen de trainingshalsband
en de app
1. Uw trainingshalsband is gedeeltelijk opgeladen. Laad hem volledig op voordat u aan de training begint.
Houd de aan/uit-knop ingedrukt om in te schakelen. U hoort een pieptoon en het groen LED-lampje begint
te knipperen. Uw trainingshalsband is nu ingeschakeld.
2. Zorg dat de Bluetooth®-functie van uw smartphone of tablet is ingeschakeld.
3. Download de gratis PetSafe®SMART DOG™Trainer-app.
4. Ga naar de app op uw smartphone en open hem. Kies vervolgens “Verbinding maken met een halsband”
en de SMART DOG™Trainer-app zal naar uw halsband gaan zoeken. Druk op Verbinding maken.
5. Vervolgens moet u een pincode (persoonlijk identificatienummer) toewijzen. Dit is een beveiligingsfunctie
om te zorgen dat andere apparaten geen verbinding zullen maken met uw trainingshalsband.
OPMERKING: Dezelfde pincode kan worden gebruikt op meerdere telefoons in hetzelfde huishouden.
Ze kunnen echter niet tegelijkertijd worden gebruikt. De SMART DOG™trainer werkt slechts met één
Bluetooth®-verbinding.
6. Uw SMART DOG™-trainingshalsband en -app zijn nu klaar voor gebruik. Voor eenvoudige toegang tot uw
app kunt u deze op het startscherm van uw smartphone plaatsen.
De trainingshalsband uitschakelen
1. Houd de aan/uit-knop ingedrukt totdat trainingshalsband een piepje laat horen van hoog naar laag en
laat de knop dan los. Het rode LED-lampje brandt wanneer de knop wordt ingedrukt en gaat uit wanneer
de trainingshalsband wordt uitgeschakeld.
Snelle tip: Wanneer u de halsband niet gebruikt, schakelt u deze uit. Hiermee wordt de
levensduur van de batterij van uw trainingshalsband verlengd.

De app gebruiken
Geluidssignaalknop: Geeft een geluidssignaal met een niet-instelbaar volume af aan de
halsband.
Vibratieknop: Stuurt 1 niet-instelbaar niveau voor vibratiestimulans naar de halsband.
Statische knop: Geeft 1–15 niveaus statische stimulatie af aan de halsband die kan worden
ingesteld met de instelknop voor het statische niveau.
Pictogram voor afstandsbediening: De trainingsknoppen worden weergegeven
en zijn klaar voor gebruik. Dit pictogram geeft ook aan dat de app verbinding heeft met de
trainingshalsband.
Pictogram voor instellingen: Hiermee kunt u instellingen wijzigen zoals de knoporiëntatie
en primaire stimulatiemethode.
Help-pictogram: Geeft uitgebreide instructies over de SMART DOG™Trainer-app, tips voor
het trainen van uw hond en links naar de volledige gebruiksaanwijzing en trainingsvideo's.
Controlelicht voor laag batterijniveau op trainingshalsband: Geeft de resterende
levensduur van de batterij in de trainingshalsband aan.
OPMERKING: De levensduur van de batterij tussen de oplaadbeurten in kan worden verlengd
door de trainingshalsband uit te zetten als deze niet in gebruik is.
De trainingshalsband testen
Wij willen graag dat u zelf ervaart hoe de statische stimulatie werkt. Begin altijd op het laagste niveau en
verhoog de intensiteit tot het niveau waar u zich het meest comfortabel bij voelt.
1. Plaats een vinger op beide contactpunten van de trainingshalsband.
2. Houd uw smartphone ongeveer 0,5 meter van de trainingshalsband. Begin op niveau 1 op de instelknop
voor het statische niveau en houd de statische knop gedurende 1 tot 2 seconden ingedrukt. Bij dit niveau
voelt u de stimulatie mogelijk niet. Opmerking: Ononderbroken stimulatie wordt niet langer verzonden dan
10 ononderbroken seconden. Druk op de aan/uit-knop en laat deze weer los om opnieuw te activeren.
3. Verhoog het niveau op de instelknop voor het statische niveau totdat het ongemakkelijk begint aan
te voelen.
Positief gedrag markeren met geluidssignaal
U kunt de SMART DOG™trainer gebruiken om positief gedrag of negatief gedrag aan te duiden, maar
zeker niet allebei! Als u besluit het geluidssignaal te gebruiken om positief gedrag aan te duiden, breng
uw hond dan niet in de war door negatief gedrag ook met een geluidssignaal aan te duiden. Als u een
PetSafe®omheiningssysteem gebruikt, moet u de geluidssignalen alleen gebruiken om negatief gedrag aan te
duiden, omdat uw hond is getraind om een geluidssignaal te associëren met een stimulatie als zij niet binnen
de grenzen blijven.
Als u besluit om geluidssignalen te gebruiken om positief gedrag aan te duiden, besteed dan 10 tot 15 minuten
per dag gedurende 2 of 3 dagen om uw hond te helpen het geluidssignaal te associëren met een beloning en
complimentjes. Doe dit voordat u de training met vibratie of statische stimulatie begint:
1. Druk de geluidssignaalknop gedurende 2 seconden in.
2. Laat de knop los en beloon uw hond onmiddellijk met complimentjes, aaien of iets lekkers. Besteed 3 tot
5 seconden aan het belonen.
3. Wacht een paar minuten en herhaal het indrukken van de geluidssignaalknop gedurende 2 seconden
gevolgd door beloning.
4. Wissel de beloning af om te voorkomen dat uw huisdier een specifieke beloning verwacht. Dit
trainingsstadium is afgerond wanneer uw hond duidelijk een beloning verwacht wanneer hij het
geluidssignaal hoort.

Het beste stimulatieniveau voor uw hond vinden
Belangrijk: Start altijd op het laagste stimulatieniveau en verhoog de intensiteit.
De SMART DOG™trainer heeft 1 geluidssignaal-, 1 vibratie- en 15 statische stimulatieniveaus. Hiermee kunt
u het meest geschikte stimulatieniveau voor uw hond kiezen. We raden training met geluidssignaal en vibratie
aan of desgewenst de lagere niveaus van statische stimulatie. In de meeste gevallen zijn niveaus 1 – 7 van de
statische stimulatie afdoende voor uw trainingsbehoeften. Niveaus 8 – 15 zijn rood om u eraan te herinneren
dat u naar de hogere stimulatieniveaus gaat.
Als u de trainingshalsband bij uw huisdier hebt omgedaan, is het tijd om het “erkenningsniveau” te vinden.
Het “erkenningsniveau” is het stimulatieniveau dat uw hond begint op te merken. Dit niveau moet uw hond
geen ongemakkelijk gevoel geven. Uw hond mag tijdens de stimulatie NIET gaan blaffen of in paniek raken.
Gebeurt dit toch, dan ligt het stimulatieniveau te hoog en moet u naar het vorige niveau terugkeren.
Volg de onderstaande stappen om het erkenningsniveau van uw huisdier te vinden:
1. Kies de vibratieknop en houd deze gedurende 1 tot 2 seconden ingedrukt.
2. Als uw hond geen reactie geeft, herhaalt u dit nog een paar keer voordat u op statische stimulatie
overgaat.
3. Begin op niveau 1 op de instelknop voor het statische niveau en houd de stimulatieknop gedurende 1 tot
2 seconden ingedrukt.
4. Als uw hond geen reactie geeft, herhaalt u het stimulatieniveau nog een paar keer voordat u naar het
volgende niveau gaat.
5. UW HOND MAG TIJDENS DE STIMULATIE NIET GAAN BLAFFEN OF IN PANIEK RAKEN. GEBEURT
DIT TOCH, DAN LIGT HET STIMULATIENIVEAU TE HOOG EN MOET U NAAR HET VORIGE NIVEAU
TERUGKEREN EN DE PROCEDURE HERHALEN.
6. Ga omhoog in de statische stimulatieniveaus totdat uw huisdier betrouwbaar op de stimulatie reageert.
7. Als uw hond nog altijd niet reageert op niveau 15, controleer dan of de trainingshalsband goed past.
Raadpleeg het hoofdstuk “De trainingshalsband passen”. U kunt dit ook op uw hand uitproberen om te
controleren of de halsband werkt.
Neem contact op met onze klantenservice als al deze stappen zijn uitgevoerd en uw hond nog steeds niet
reageert op de stimulatie.
Wegwerpen van batterijen
Zie Belangrijke veiligheidsinformatie op pagina 27 met betrekking tot de batterij.
In veel regio's is gescheiden inzameling van gebruikte batterijen verplicht; vraag naar de regelgeving in
uw regio.
Lithium-mangaandioxide knoopcellen bevatten brandbare materialen, zoals organische oplosmiddelen.
Incorrect gebruik van de batterij kan leiden tot lekkages, verhitting, explosie of ontbranding van de batterij, wat
kan leiden tot letsel. Overmatige verhitting kan leiden tot vervorming van de pakking, lekkages of verslechtering
van de prestaties van de batterij.
• Bij het verwijderen van de oude batterij moet de aansluiting goed worden vastgepakt om schade
aan de bedrading te voorkomen. Als de draden van de batterij worden kortgesloten, kan er brand
of een explosie ontstaan.
• Deze instructies zijn niet van toepassing voor reparatie of voor het vervangen van batterijen. Het
vervangen van de batterij door een batterij die niet uitdrukkelijk door Radio Systems Corporation is
goedgekeurd, kan brand of explosies veroorzaken. Neem contact op met de klantenservice om te
voorkomen dat uw garantie vervalt.
Belangrijk advies voor recycling
Respecteer de in uw land geldende regelgeving betreffende de veilige afvoer van afval van elektrische en
elektronische apparaten. Dit apparaat dient te worden gerecycled. Indien u dit apparaat niet langer nodig
hebt, werp het dan niet weg bij het gewone huisvuil. Breng het apparaat terug naar de plaats van aankoop,
zodat het kan worden opgenomen in ons recyclingsysteem. Als dit niet mogelijk is, neem dan contact op met de

2. Correct gebruik
Dit product is ontwikkeld voor gebruik met honden die moeten worden getraind. Het specifieke
temperament of de grootte/het gewicht van uw hond is mogelijk niet geschikt voor dit Product (raadpleeg
“Zo werkt het systeem” in deze gebruiksaanwijzing). Radio Systems Corporation raadt gebruik van
dit product af als uw hond agressief is en aanvaardt geen aansprakelijkheid voor het bepalen van
de geschiktheid in individuele gevallen. Als u er niet zeker van bent of dit product geschikt is voor uw
hond, neem dan contact op met uw dierenarts of een gediplomeerd trainer voordat u het in gebruik
neemt. Beoogd gebruik omvat, zonder enige beperking, het lezen en begrijpen van de gehele
gebruiksaanwijzing en alle specifieke veiligheidsinformatie.
3. Geen onrechtmatig of verboden gebruik
Dit product is uitsluitend ontwikkeld voor gebruik met honden. Dit tracking- en trainingsapparaat is niet
bedoeld om schade aan te brengen, te verwonden of te provoceren. Gebruik van dit product op een wijze
waarop het niet bedoeld is, kan de schending van nationale of plaatselijke wetten tot gevolg hebben.
4. Beperking van aansprakelijkheid
Onder geen enkele omstandigheid zal Radio Systems Corporation of een van de gelieerde bedrijven
