Operating instructions
1. Press the SCAN button for one
second (A specific design to avoid
accidentally turning it on), the
system will start itself and self test

the last temperature measured
will be shown on the display
(see Figure 2) which indicates
the thermometer is now ready to use.
3. Insert the probe into the ear canal.
Be sure to position the probe
properly to allow the probe tip
to scan down the ear canal to the

Press the SCAN button without releasing it to activate the
automatic scanning sequences.
4. Remove the probe from the ear canal after completing the
reading.
5. Release the SCAN button to see
the temperature reading. You will
hear a beep sound to indicate
the end of measurement. The
temperature reading accompanying with an indicating face
will be shown on the display (see Figure 4).
6. A smiling face indicates a temperature lower than 38°C
(100.4°F). While a upset face coming with one long
followed by two short beep sound indicate a temperature
higher than 38°C (100.4°F) (see Figure 5 and 6).
7
7. A “Lo” or “Hi” symbol will appear when the temperature is
out of the measuring range (see Technical specifications
on page 8 for details) as shown in Figure 7 and 8.
8. The remark “Err” appears if the operating temperature is
not within the permissible range (see Figure 9).
9. Multiple readings should be at least 5 seconds apart to
ensure precise temperature readings.
10.Once finished taking measurements, leave the

Protection
Do not expose the ear thermometer to extreme temperature,
very high humidity, or direct sunlight. Avoid extreme shock or
accidental drop-down. Do not touch the probe tip with fingers.
Do not disassemble the ear thermometer.
Troubleshooting
1. Consistent low temperature readings:
• The probe is not positioned properly in the ear canal.
- The tip of the probe must be snuggled and fully seated
against the opening of the ear canal. Failure to properly
position the probe may lead to a low temperature
reading.
• The waterproof lens is dirty.
- Thoroughly clean the lens with a soft, alcohol-
moistened cotton cloth .
2. Temperature taken is not within the measuring range.
• Scanning sequences are not operated in the ear canal.
- It may occur if you operate the scanning sequences
before placing the ear thermometer in the ear while the
ambient temperature is not within the measuring range
(see “Technical specifications”). Remember not to
release the SCAN button till the thermometer has been
removed from the ear canal.
3. Low battery warning
• Battery is to low to take measurement.
- Replace the battery (see “Battery installation).
