Please read through these instructions so you will know how to operate your product properly.
After you have finished reading the instructions, keep this document in a safe place for future reference.
This product functions only when connected to a compatible Pioneer receiver (sold separately).

•THIS PRODUCT IS DESIGNED TO SUPPLEMENT THE DRIVER’S REAR VIEW, BUT THE SENSORS
MAY NOT DETECT ALL DANGERS AND OBSTACLES AND ARE NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR YOUR
ATTENTION. CHECK BEHIND THE VEHICLE BEFORE ENTERING, AND BE SURE TO LOOK
BEHIND YOU AND USE THE REARVIEW MIRROR AND BACKUP CAMERA (IF AVAILABLE)
WHEN REVERSING.
•DO NOT WASH YOUR CAR WITH AN AUTOMATIC CAR WASH OR HIGH-PRESSURE WATER AS
IT MAY RESULT IN WATER ENTERING THE SENSORS.
WARNING
•SENSOR FUNCTION MAY BE AFFECTED IN THE FOLLOWING SITUATIONS:
HEAVY RAIN OR FOG, GRAVEL OR BUMPY ROADS, SLOPING ROADS, GRASSY ROADS, VERY
COLD OR HOT WEATHER, MOIST WEATHER, THE SENSORS ARE COVERED BY SNOW, ICE,
DIRT, ETC.

This product must be connected to a compatible Pioneer receiver, which will display an approximate
numerical unit distance (subject to the limitations described above) if the sensor is between 0.5 m (20 in.)
and 1.6 m (60 in.) of a detected surface or object. As the vehicle moves, the approximate distance
displayed will change in 0.1 m (4 in.) increments. Certain Pioneer receivers may also be compatible with
the Pioneer Smart Sync app, which will display an approximate distance and approximate direction from
the sensor to the detected surface or object graphically, subject to the same conditions and limitations.

shape, or reflection.

Note

pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection
against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can
radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may
cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference
will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or
television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is
encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
– Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
– Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.

We recommend that only authorized Pioneer service personnel, who have special training and
experience in mobile electronics, set up and install this product.

PRECAUTIONS
•Installation requires drilling holes into the vehicle bumper, which must be non-metal.
•Vehicle must be powered off during product installation.
•Make sure engine parts such as the exhaust pipe are not hot before installation.
•The sensors must be positioned correctly in order to function properly.
•Do not install the control box in or near the vent pipe or wiring.
•Do not route wires where they will be exposed to high temperatures. If the insulation heats up, the
wires may become damaged, resulting in a short circuit or malfunction and permanent damage to the
product.
•If the control box is installed in the passenger compartment, anchor it securely so it does not break free
while the car is moving and cause injury or accident.
•Secure all wiring with cable clamps or electrical tape. Do not allow any bare wiring to remain exposed.
•Make sure that the cables and wires will not interfere with or become caught in any of the vehicle’s
moving parts, especially the brake, doors, or any of the vehicle’s controls.
•If the wiring of this unit is located under the front seat, make sure it does not obstruct seat movement.
Route all leads and cords carefully around the sliding mechanism so they do not get caught or pinched
in the mechanism and cause a short circuit.
•When mounting this product, make sure none of the leads are trapped between this unit and the
surrounding metalwork of fittings.

•Do not shorten any leads. If you do, the protection circuit (fuse holder, fuse resistor or filter, etc.) may fail
to work properly.
•Use only the parts included with the unit to ensure proper installation. The use of unauthorized parts
can cause malfunctions.
•Never feed power to other electronic products by cutting the insulation of the power supply lead of
this product and tapping into the lead. The current capacity of the lead will be exceeded, causing
overheating.
•Use this unit with a 12-volt battery and negative grounding only. Failure to do so may result in a fire or
malfunction.
•The graphical symbol placed on the product means direct current.
•When replacing the fuse, be sure to only use a fuse of the rating prescribed on the fuse holder.
•To avoid a short in the electrical system, disconnect the (-) battery cable before installation.
•Secure the wiring with cable clamps or adhesive tape. Wrap adhesive tape around wiring that comes
into contact with metal parts to protect the wiring.
•Before drilling any mounting holes, always check behind where you want to drill the holes. Do not drill
into the gas line, brake line, electrical wiring, or other important parts.
•Do not perform installation in rain or fog.
•Make sure that the device works properly after installing this product. <Test Method: Refer to TEST

Fig 1: The sensor installation height must be between 55 cm (1 ft. 9-5/8 in.) and 65 cm (2 ft. 1-5/8 in.), measured vertically from the ground.
The sensors must be installed in the correct order from left to right as shown.

SENSOR INSTALLATION 2
WARNING
• CHECK THAT THERE IS NO VEHICLE STRUCTURE BEHIND THE HOLE LOCATIONS BEFORE DRILLING.
• INSTALLATION OF THE SENSORS REQUIRES A MINIMUM OF 2.54 CM (1 IN.) IN DEPTH (FREE SPACE) BEHIND THE BUMPER SURFACE.
• WEAR EYE PROTECTION AND SUITABLE CLOTHING WHEN DRILLING; AVOID LOOSE CLOTHES, ACCESSORIES, OR HAIR THAT COULD
GET CAUGHT IN THE DRILL.
• Ensure that the hole saw sits firmly in the drill and does not wobble when the drill is turned on.

• The control box is not waterproof. It must be installed inside the vehicle.
• Find a suitable control box location. Confirm that the sensor wire length is sufficient to reach from the bumper to the control box location
before proceeding.
• Route the sensor wires into the vehicle to the control box.

• Using the 19 mm (6/8 in.) hole saw (supplied), drill a hole in each of the 4 positions you marked in SENSOR INSTALLATION 1.

• Insert the sensors into the holes one by one.
• Make sure the arrow direction points upward when inserting the sensor into the hole.
• To ensure a proper fit, make sure the sensor is seated firmly into the bumper.

CAUTION
Do not paint the sensors. Paint could impair or disable the sensor function.

CONTROL BOX INSTALLATION

Locate the +12 VDC reverse signal (reverse light or other harness) and connect the red wire from the control box.
Connect the black wire from the control box to the chassis ground.
Soldering recommended. Use insulation tape to cover the joint.

TEST AFTER INSTALLATION
Test the distance with a hard plate of 100 cm (3 ft. 3-1/8 in.) ×
100 cm (3 ft. 3-1/8 in.) or a wall. The farthest detection distance is
2.5m. (8 ft. 2-3/8 in.) (The closest detection distance is 30 cm
(11-7/8 in.)).
