CS500 SERIES: HOW TO SET UP THE HL10 LIFTER
The HL10 handset lifter automatically lifts the hand receiver of your phone when you press the call control button
on your headset. Follow the instructions below to set up an HL10 with your CS500 Series system.
PROCEDURE
You will need:
To set up the handset lifter:
1. nplug your phone's handset.
2. Plug one end of the telephone interface cable (TIC) into the phone's handset port and the other end into
the back of the CS500 series base.
3. Plug your phone's handset cable into the box in the middle of the TIC.
4. Firmly press the handset lifter power cord into the handset lifter jack.
5. With the phone's handset on the hook, slide the
handset lifter arm under the handset until the lifter
base touches the side of the phone and the handset
earpiece (see below).

6. While wearing your headset, press the call control button on your headset to activate the lifter.
7. If you do not hear a dial tone, skip to the section titled "Troubleshooting No Dial Tone." If you do hear a
dial tone, the lifter is set correctly and needs no adjustment. Proceed to step 5.
8. Set the lifter by removing the protective strips from the mounting tape on the underside of the lifter (see
below), then gently place the lifter on the desk phone in the pre-determined position. Press firmly to
adhere.
Troubleshooting No Dial Tone:
1. If you do not hear a dial tone, raise the lifter height switch to the next highest position (see below).
2. While wearing your headset, press the call control button on your headset to activate the lifter.
3.If you do not hear a dial tone, repeat steps 1 and 2 of this procedure until you do.
4. If you hear a dial tone, mount the handset lifter as described in step 5 of the setup instructions above.
To install the additional parts, if necessary:
Extender Arm
se the extender arm when the handset lifter needs
additional stability lifting and returning the handset to the
cradle.Slide the extender arm onto the lifter.
1. Stabilizers can be shifted left and right. Position
stabilizers on outsides of the handset to gently grip
the phone.

Ringer icrophone
se the ringer microphone only when the telephone speaker is not located directly under the handset.
1. Remove the cover from the ringer microphone jack on the back of the lifter.
2. Connect the ringer microphone plug.
3. Place the ringer microphone over the phone speaker. Remove the adhesive tape and attach.
CS500 SERIES: HOW TO SUBSCRIBE (PAIR) A HEADSET TO THE BASE
The headset and base unit are subscribed to each other right out of the box. If you need to use a replacement
headset with the base, you have to subscribe (or introduce) it to the base.
PROCEDURE
To subscribe a headset to the base:
Simply dock your headset in the base. The power/subscription light (the white light on the base) flashes during
the subscription process and glows solid when the headset pairs successfully.
Note: Only the last paired headset will work, so you will have to repeat this process whenever you need to use a
different headset with the system.
CS500 SERIES: HOW TO CONFERENCE ADDITIONAL HEADSETS ON A CALL
You can conference up to three additional headsets to a call in progress. The procedure below
explains how to conference in additional headsets.
PROCED RE
How to conference when the guest headset is the same model as the primary headset
1. While on an active call (press silver call button on primary controlling headset), place the guest headset into
the primary user's charge cradle (this connects the headset to the base).
2. When the base subscription indicator light stops flashing white and becomes solid white, a tone sounds in the
primary headset, indicating a guest wishes to join the call.
3. The primary user should press the call button to accept the guest headset within 10 seconds or the request is
terminated and the guest hears an error tone in their headset.
* Note when the call button on the primary is pressed to disengage the call it will also automatically unpair the
conference group. To stop this either use the handset or headset button on the telephone to make and end
sessions when training.
How to conference when the guest headset is a different model than the primary headset

1. Briefly press the base subscription button while the base has an active link.
2. Press the guest headset volume up button until the indicator light turns on.
3. When the base subscription LED stops flashing white and remains solid white, the request to join will be heard
in the primary user's headset and the primary user will have to press their call button within 10 seconds to
accept the guest.
How to exit a headset conference
Guests headsets can remain as guests through multiple calls. To remove a guest headset, press the guest
headset's call control button or dock the primary user's headset in the charge cradle. A single tone sounds in the
master headset as each guest leaves the call.
CS500 SERIES DATE CODE LOCATION
The Date Code for the CS500 Series is located on the label on the bottom of the base, and consists of four digits
(MMYY).

CS540: HOW TO CHANGE THE BATTERY
PROCED RE
If you notice that a fully charged battery is no longer lasting long enough, you can replace it. Its Part Number is
86180-01
Slide the battery cover off and remove it from the headset.
1. Pull the battery out of the attachment clip.
2. Grasp the battery connector and disconnect from the headset.
3. Plug the new battery to the battery connector.
4. Once connected, slide the battery into place.
5. Slide the cover back on and push it into place.
CS540 BATTERY INFOR ATION
This product has a replaceable battery (Part Number is 86180-01
Talk Time
With a single full charge, the CS540 will provide up to 6 hours of talk time. Talk time will be reduced when
operating in wideband mode or if the headset is used consistently at a far distance from the base.
Low Battery Warning

If you are on a call and the headset battery is critically low, you will hear a repeated single low tone every 15
seconds indicating the battery is low. You should recharge the headset immediately.
If you are not on a call and press the call button, you will hear three low tones if the battery is critically low. You
should recharge the headset immediately.
How do I replace the battery on my Savi W710/W720 or CS510/CS520
headset?
Procedure
To cha ge the battery o the headset for your Savi W710/W720 or CS510/520
system, follow the steps below:
1. Pop ope the cover for the battery housi g as show . The battery housi g
should be located o the u derside of the headset, below the micropho e
boom.

2. Pull out the battery. If you are u able to reach the battery with your fi gers,
you ca use a paper clip or a toothpick to pull the battery out by the wire as
demo strated below.
3.Detach the battery from its co ector.

To replace the battery, simply reverse the above process: re-attach the battery to its
co ector, place the battery back i its housi g, a d close the cover.
