Preface
These instructions for use help to ensure
proper
safe
cost-effective
use of the following compressed-air powered plier staplers:
1A-AZ16BNH
1A-AZ25BNH
4C-WZ38BNH
4C-WZ38BNH400
In this Operation Manual, these plier staplers are referred to as
tackers for short.
We assume that all users of the tacker are familiar with handling
compressed-air power tools and the materials used. Persons who do
not have this knowledge must be instructed by an experienced user
in the use of the tacker.
These operating instructions are directed to the following persons:
Persons who use this tacker
Persons who clean this tacker
Persons who dispose of this tacker
Each of these persons must have read and understood the contents
of these instructions for use.
These instructions for use are part of the product. Always keep them
with the tacker. Pass along the instructions for use if you sell or
otherwise transfer the tacker to anyone else.

Design features
General design features
Certain elements of the instructions for use have defined design
features. This lets you easily see whether a passage is
normal text,
a list of items, or
an action to be taken.
Tips provide additional information, such as special details
about how to use the tacker cost-effectively.
Features of hazard warnings
All hazard warnings in these instructions for use follow the same
pattern. To the left is a symbol that indicates the type of hazard. To
the right is another symbol and a signal word that designates the
severity of the hazard. Below this is a description of the source of the
hazard and instructions on how to avoid the hazard.
DANGER
Notes with the word DANGER warn of hazards
that lead directly to severe or fatal injuries.

Design features
7
WARNING
Notes with the word WARNING warn of
hazards that can potentially cause severe or
fatal injuries.
CAUTION
Notes with the word CAUTION warn of
hazards that can potentially cause minor to
moderate injuries.
Features of warnings about damage to property or
the environment
ATTENTION
These notes warn of hazards that can lead to damage to property
or the environment.

Safety

Safety
When using the tacker, note and adhere to all warnings and
instructions in these instructions for use and on the tacker itself. The
enclosed spare parts list is part of these instructions for use.
Intended use
Tackers are used to drive staples into paper and carton materials.
Using the tacker with other materials is permissible only after
consulting with the manufacturer. The intended use also includes
compliance with accident prevention rules and the regulations and
standards in force at the place of use. Any other use is not as
intended and can lead to property damage or even to personal injury.
Use other than as intended
Uses particularly contrary to the intended use include:
Use by persons unfamiliar with the use of tackers and the
materials in use.
Use with safety devices bypassed.
Use of tackers that have been modified without permission.
Use of any accessories not indicated in these instructions for use.
Use of compressed air sources not listed in these instructions for
use.
PREBENA WILFRIED BORNEMANN GMBH & CO. KG does not
accept any liability for damage caused by use other than as intended.

Safety
9
Avoid risk of fatal injuries
Make sure that no part of the body is between the discharge
opening and the die during actuation, and at any time the tacker is
connected to the air supply.
Actuate the tacker only when the tip of the tool is pressed against
the workpiece.
Do not allow children to play with packaging film, as there is a risk
of suffocation.
Make sure that the fastener is not driven into a power line.
Avoid explosion hazards
Do not use the tacker in explosion hazard areas.
Never operate the tacker with oxygen or other flammable gases or
gas mixtures.
Do not expose the compressor to temperatures above 100°C.
Avoid injury hazards
Keep the tacker out of the reach of children and other
unauthorized persons.
Disconnect the tacker from the air supply before transport.
Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, and sturdy work clothing
when operating the tacker.
Hold the tacker so that you cannot be injured by any possible
recoil.
Only use the tacker when you are able to stand securely.
Avoid damage to the tacker
Never open the tacker. Leave repair work to qualified technical
personnel.

Safety
10
Do not use the tacker if it has been dropped or damaged. Have it
checked by qualified technical personnel before resuming use.
Do not connect the tacker to an air supply that exceeds the
maximum operating pressure of 10 bar.
Install fixed tackers only in securely anchored mounting devices.
The tacker must not be able to rotate or shift. The mounting
device must not damage the tacker or its accessories.

Preparing the tacker
18
Preparing the tacker
Unpack the tacker
Remove the tacker from the packaging.
Remove all packaging material, such as film, filler material, and
the packaging carton.
WARNING
Suffocation hazard for children playing with
packaging film.
Do not allow children to play with
packaging film.
Keep packaging material out of the reach
of children.
Keep the packaging material for later use.
Keep the transport case for transporting the tacker.
Transporting the tacker is only allowed in the transport case.

Preparing the tacker
19
Check condition
WARNING
Risk of injury when operating a damaged
tacker or if accessories are not attached
correctly.
Check the condition of the tacker before
each use.
Make sure the tacker is not damaged.
Check the following points in particular:
-All parts of the tacker and all accessories must be attached
securely.
-The safety equipment must not be blocked or otherwise
hindered in function.
-The spring on the trigger safety must not be damaged.
-No part of the tacker or accessories may show external
damage such as scratches or dents.
-The hose must be undamaged.
Scratches on the paint of the housing or the magazine are not
damage.
Do not connect a damaged tacker to an air supply.
If the tacker is damaged, have it repaired by technical personnel
before resuming use.
Connect tacker to air supply
You can connect the tacker to a compressor or a compressed air
system.

Preparing the tacker
20
Operation with a compressor or a compressed air system is
permissible only under the following conditions
The operating pressure of the compressor or the compressed air
system must not be more than 10% greater than the maximum
operating pressure of the tacker. Information on the operating
pressure of tackers can be found on page 23 in this section.
For compressed air systems with higher pressure, a pressure
regulating valve (pressure reducer) with a pressure relief valve
connected downstream must be installed in the compressed air
line.
The compressed air must be filtered, dry, and oiled with
PREBENA special driver oil.
A compressed air preparation unit must be installed on the
coupling side at the outlets for the compressed air line to the
tacker. It must include
-a filter
-a water separator
-an oiler
If no oiler is installed, the length of the air line to the tacker must
not exceed 10 m. Otherwise, you must add three to five drops of
PREBENA special driver oil directly into the air inlet of the tacker
every day prior to starting operation.
The compressed air system must be able to maintain operating
pressure even when the desired amount of air is being used.
The inner diameter of the air line must be at least 9 mm.
The connector for the tacker must be equipped with a quick-
connect coupling with nominal diameter of 7.2 and at least 6.5
mm inner diameter.
