1 Introducon
The Pyxis ST-772/T dissolved oxygen (DO) sensor is based on the principle of uorescence quenching to
determine the dissolved oxygen content in water. It incorporates Pyxis’ advanced technology in the eld
of uorescence detecon. The ST-772/T sensor uses dual light source detecon technology with excitaon
and reference light sources, oering a wide detecon range and low detecon limit. The sensor integrates
temperature and pressure sensors, which can perform temperature and pressure compensaon for the
measurement of dissolved oxygen based on ambient environmental condions present in the applicaon
of use.
The ST-772/T sensor oers an easily replaceable, front loading DO membrane cap that has been indepen-
dently developed by Pyxis Lab, with a typical service life of up to two years. This unique DO membrane cap
design incorporates a black microporous PTFE membrane material designed to provide extreme scratch
resistance, extended life span and simple replacement. The at front-end design of the ST-772/T sensor
makes this plaorm less prone to contaminaon or fouling and is easy to clean.
The sensor body is composed of 304 stainless steel and is well suited for aggressive industrial applicaon
use. The ST-772/T sensor may be ulized in a submersed oang or submersed xed installaon format
with the Pyxis installaon assembly opons. It may also be used in an inline pressurized Tee assembly for-
mat (ST-772T Sensor opon). All opons are discussed in the Installaon secon. The ST-772/T oers both
4–20mA and RS-485 Modbus outputs and is Bluetooth enabled when used in conjuncon with the MA-CR
Bluetooth Adapter.
The ST-772/T sensor measures the paral pressure of the dissolved oxygen (DO) in water. In most applica-
ons, the source of DO is oxygen in the air. In other applicaon such as in aquaculture, the source of DO is
photosynthesis. The concentraon of dissolved oxygen is a derived value from the measured oxygen par-
al pressure. The relaonship between the DO concentraon and the oxygen paral pressure is governed
by the law of thermodynamics. The ST-772/T sensor uses the latest USGS equaon to convert the oxygen
paral pressure to DO in units of ppm or mg/L. Through setup using the uPyxis® Mobile of Desktop App,
the ST-772/T sensor can output the measured oxygen paral pressure in other units such as percentage of
oxygen saturaon.

4 Installaon
4.1 Submersed Floang Installaon
The ST-772 sensor may be installed in a submersed oang applicaon using the MA-150-1 Submersion
Adapter Mounng Bracket and Ball Float and the MA-150-3 Floang Submersion Pipe Assembly. The ST-
772 dissolved oxygen sensor needs to be installed as shown in Figure 1. For installaon, users need to keep
the MA-150-1 and MA-105-3 assemblies in place permanently. For sensor replacement and maintenance,
users only need to pull the MA-150-3 and ST-772 sensor from xing bracket vercally (upwards). Oponal
MA-150-4 water-ght conduit for sensor wiring may be purchased if desired.
Figure 1. ST-772 in a submersed oang installaon
4.2 Submersed Fixed Installaon
The ST-772 sensor may be installed in a submersed xed applicaon using the MA-120-B Submersion Adapter
Mounng Bracket. The ST-772 dissolved oxygen sensor needs to be installed as shown in Figure 2. For in-
stallaon, users need to keep the MA-120-B assembly in place permanently. For sensor replacement and
maintenance, users only need to pull the MA-120-B and ST-772 sensor from xing bracket vercally (up-
wards).

4.3 Pipeline Installaon
The ST-772T sensor may be installed in an inline ow applicaon using the Pyxis ST-001 Inline Tee Assembly.
The ST-001 oers 3/4” FNPT thread or socket weld adapters with unions for easy installaon and sensor
maintenance. Pyxis recommends installaon in a vercal ow format from boom up to reduce the impact
of water bubbles. To properly install the ST-772T sensor into the ST-001 Inline Tee Assembly, follow the
steps below:
1. Insert the provided O-ring into the O-ring groove on the tee.
2. Insert the ST-772T sensor into the tee.
3. Tighten the tee nut onto the tee to form a water-ght, compression seal.
Ensure the DCC-1 Dissolved Oxygen Membrane Cap is in the direcon of water ow as shown in Figure 3.

4.4 Wiring
If the power ground terminal and the negave 4–20mA terminal in the controller are internally connected
(non-isolated 4–20mA input), it is unnecessary to connect the 4–20mA negave wire (gray) to the 4–20mA
negave terminal in the controller. If a separate DC power supply other than that from the controller is
used, make sure that the output from the power supply is rated for 22–26 VDC @ 65 mA.
*NOTE*The negave 24V power terminal (power ground) and the negave 4–20mA ter-
minal on the ST-772/T sensor are internally connected.
Follow the wiring table below to connect the ST-772/T sensor to a controller:
