PROTECTIONS
XPS 16K impl m nts s v ral saf ty strat gi s, both at firmwar and hardwar l v l, to nsur saf and continuous
op rability in all op rating conditions.
FIRMWARE
1 RMS signal prot ction on sp ak rs > prot cts transduc rs from th rmal issu s
2 Woof r xcursion control > maintains a pr cis and pow rful driving
3 Pow r supply output dynamic limitation > for high-p rformanc and long-lasting bursts
4 P ak ov rvoltag prot ction > prot cts amplifi rs in a v ry r sponsiv way
5 RMS ov rcurr nt prot ction > for short circuit prot ction
6 Gain modulation for th rmal prot ction > calculat d by w ighting th signals of th various t mp ratur
s nsors appli d to pow r and amplification modul s
Prot ctions 1) and 2) ar sp cific for ach RCF sp ak r, d fin d and calibrat d by RCF l ctroacoustic t chnicians.
Firmwar modul s ar writt n and optimiz d using th b st clos d loop control strat gi s to work in p rf ct syn rgy with
hardwar prot ctions, which work as fallback prot ctions for th most critical situations.
HARDWARE
1 Curr nt and voltag prot ctions
2 Sp ak rs' imp danc m asur m nt > allows to monitor pow r cabl s conn ctions status, and to d vis
sp ak rs’ obsol sc nc prot ction strat gi s
3 Fans forc d conv ction dissipation > sp d controll d fans, to maximiz dissipation with th low st
nois
Prot ctions ar classifi d as:
-Fast prot ctions: v ry r sponsiv , driv n by fast signals, such as ov rvoltag or pow r absorptions.
-Slow prot ctions: smooth r spons , driv n by signals with long r in rtia, such as th rmal on s.

INSTALLATION
UNPACKING
Ch ck th carton box and its cont nts and if th r is any sign of damag (should th amplifi r b damag d, imm diat ly
inform your local distributor / d al r and th forward r). It is always advisabl to k p th packing mat rials, v n if th
amplifi r has arriv d in good condition. Input and output cabl s ar not includ d.
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
XPS 16K amplifi rs shall not b install d in a plac with:
-too high t mp ratur , dust or xc ssiv humidity;
-xhaust air v ntilators;
-p rman nt vibrations;
-high-int nsity l ctromagn tic fi lds (du to transform rs, transmitt rs, tc.).
RACK MOUNT
XPS 16K amplifi r must b install d insid rack cabin ts.
Insid rack cabin ts, it cannot b install d on slid rails.
1 Fix th XPS 16K amplifi r to th rack front uprights (2) using th hol s (1) on th supports.
Provid a t mporary support during th following st ps, in ord r to avoid accid ntal product crash and pot ntial
op rator injuri s.

18
2 Using th hol s (4), adjust th position of th brack t ins rt (3) d p nding on rack front and r ar uprights
distanc .
3 Ins rt th r ar brack ts (5) into th sid slid s of th fram (6) and push th m against th r ar uprights of th
rack (7).
4 Fix th XPS 16K amplifi r to th rack r ar uprights (9) using th hol s (8) of th r ar brack ts.
It is now possibl to r mov th t mporary support.
COOLING
To nsur amplifi r op rational saf ty it is crucial to maintain ad quat th rmal conditions in th installation nvironm nt.
XPS 16K is quipp d with 3 variabl sp d fans that provid th n c ssary airflow from th front to th r ar pan l of th
cabin t. In addition, it is n c ssary to:
-k p th front grill s fr from obstacl s;
-ch ck th cl anlin ss of th filt rs b hind th grill s;
-nsur an ad quat cool airflow insid rack cabin ts, also with additional v ntilation modul s if th y ar not v nt d.
