Prima di collegare ed utilizzare questo prodotto, leggere attentamente le istruzioni contenute in
questo manuale, il quale è da conservare per riferimenti futuri. Il presente manuale costituisce parte
integrante del prodotto e deve accompagnare quest’ultimo anche nei passaggi di proprietà, per
permettere al nuovo proprietario di conoscere le modalità d’installazione e d’utilizzo e le avvertenze
per la sicurezza.
L’installazione e l’utilizzo errati del prodotto esimono la RCF S.p.A. da ogni responsabilità.
ATTENZIONE: per prevenire i rischi di fiamme o scosse elettriche, non esporre mai questo prodotto
alla pioggia o all’umidità (salvo il caso in cui sia stato espressamente progettato e costruito per l’uso
all’aperto).
AVVERTENZE PER LA SICUREZZA
1. Tutte le avvertenze, in particolare quelle relative alla sicurezza, devono essere lette con
particolare attenzione, in quanto contengono importanti informazioni.
2.1 ALIMENTAZIONE DIRETTA DA RETE
a. La tensione di alimentazione dell’apparecchio ha un valore sufficientemente alto da costituire
un rischio di folgorazione per le persone: non procedere mai all’installazione o connessione
dell’apparecchio con l’alimentazione inserita.
b. Prima di alimentare questo prodotto, assicurarsi che tutte le connessioni siano corrette e che la
tensione della vostra rete di alimentazione corrisponda quella di targa dell’apparecchio,
in caso contrario rivolgetevi ad un rivenditore RCF.
c. Le parti metalliche dell’apparecchio sono collegate a terra tramite il cavo di alimentazione.
Nel caso la presa di corrente utilizzata per l’alimentazione non fornisca il collegamento
con la terra, contattare un elettricista qualicato, che provvederà a connettere a terra
l’apparecchio tramite l’apposito morsetto.
d. Accertarsi che il cavo di alimentazione dell’apparecchio non possa essere calpestato o
schiacciato da oggetti, al fine di salvaguardarne la perfetta integrità.
e. Per evitare il rischio di shock elettrici, non aprire mai l’apparecchio: all’interno non vi sono
parti che possono essere utilizzate dall’utente.
2.2 ALIMENTAZIONE TRAMITE ALIMENTATORE ESTERNO
a. Alimentare il prodotto utilizzando solo l’alimentatore dedicato; verificare che la tensione della
vostra rete corrisponda quella di targa dell’alimentatore e che il valore ed il tipo (continua o
alternata) di tensione d’uscita dello stesso corrisponda a quella d’ingresso del prodotto,
in caso contrario rivolgersi ad un rivenditore RCF; verificare inoltre che l’alimentatore non sia
stato danneggiato da eventuali urti o sovraccarichi.
b. La tensione di rete, alla quale è connesso l’alimentatore, ha un valore sufficientemente alto da
costituire un rischio di folgorazione per le persone: prestare attenzione durante la connessione
alla rete (es. non effettuarla con le mani bagnate) e non aprire mai l’alimentatore.
c. Accertarsi che il cavo dell’alimentatore non sia o possa essere schiacciato da altri oggetti
(prestando particolare attenzione alla parte del cavo vicino alla spina ed al punto dove questo
esce dall’alimentatore).
3. Impedire che oggetti o liquidi entrino all’interno del prodotto, perché potrebbero causare un corto circuito.
4. Non eseguire sul prodotto interventi / modifiche / riparazioni se non quelle espressamente
descritte sul manuale istruzioni.
Contattare centri di assistenza autorizzati o personale altamente qualificato quando:
•l’apparecchio non funziona (o funziona in modo anomalo);
• il cavo di alimentazione ha subito gravi danni;
• oggetti o liquidi sono entrati nell’apparecchio;
• l’apparecchio ha subito forti urti.
5. Qualora questo prodotto non sia utilizzato per lunghi periodi, togliere la tensione dal cavo di
alimentazione (o scollegare l’alimentatore esterno).
6. Nel caso che dal prodotto provengano odori anomali o fumo, spegnerlo immediatamente e
togliere la tensione dal cavo di alimentazione (o scollegare l’alimentatore esterno).

7. Non collegare a questo prodotto altri apparecchi e accessori non previsti.
Quando è prevista l’installazione sospesa, utilizzare solamente gli appositi punti di ancoraggio e
non cercare di appendere questo prodotto tramite elementi non idonei o previsti allo scopo.
Verificare inoltre l’idoneità del supporto (parete, soffitto, struttura ecc., al quale è ancorato il prodotto)
e dei componenti utilizzati per il fissaggio (tasselli, viti, staffe non fornite da RCF ecc.) che devono
garantire la sicurezza dell’impianto / installazione nel tempo, anche considerando, ad esempio,
vibrazioni meccaniche normalmente generate da un trasduttore.
Per evitare il pericolo di cadute, non sovrapporre fra loro più unità di questo prodotto, quando
questa possibilità non è espressamente contemplata dal manuale istruzioni.
8. La RCF S.p.A. raccomanda vivamente che l’installazione di questo prodotto sia eseguita
solamente da installatori professionali qualicati (oppure da ditte specializzate) in grado di
farla correttamente e certicarla in accordo con le normative vigenti.
Tutto il sistema audio dovrà essere in conformità con le norme e le leggi vigenti in materia di
impianti elettrici.
9. Sostegni e Carrelli
Se previsto, il prodotto va utilizzato solo su carrelli o sostegni consigliati dal produttore. L’insieme
apparecchio-sostegno / carrello va mosso con estrema cura. Arresti improvvisi, spinte eccessive e
superfici irregolari o inclinate possono provocare il ribaltamento dell’assieme.
10. Vi sono numerosi fattori meccanici ed elettrici da considerare quando si installa un sistema
audio professionale (oltre a quelli prettamente acustici, come la pressione sonora, gli angoli di
copertura, la risposta in frequenza, ecc.).
11. Perdita dell’udito
L’esposizione ad elevati livelli sonori può provocare la perdita permanente dell’udito. Il livello di
pressione acustica pericolosa per l’udito varia sensibilmente da persona a persona e dipende dalla
durata dell’esposizione. Per evitare un’esposizione potenzialmente pericolosa ad elevati livelli di
pressione acustica, è necessario che chiunque sia sottoposto a tali livelli utilizzi delle adeguate
protezioni; quando si fa funzionare un trasduttore in grado di produrre elevati livelli sonori è
necessario indossare dei tappi per orecchie o delle cuffie protettive.
Consultare i dati tecnici contenuti nel manuale istruzioni per conoscere la massima pressione sonora
che i diffusori acustici collegati sono in grado di produrre.
NOTE IMPORTANTI
Per evitare fenomeni di rumorosità indotta sui cavi che trasportano segnali dai microfoni o di
linea (per esempio 0dB), usare solo cavi schermati ed evitare di posarli nelle vicinanze di:
• apparecchiature che producono campi elettromagnetici di forte intensità
(per esempio trasformatori di grande di potenza);
• cavi di rete;
• linee che alimentano altoparlanti.
PRECAUZIONI D’USO
• Non ostruire le griglie di ventilazione dell’unità. Collocare il prodotto lontano da fonti di calore
e garantire la circolazione dell’aria in corrispondenza delle griglie di aerazione.
• Non sovraccaricare questo prodotto per lunghi periodi.
• Non forzare mai gli organi di comando (tasti, manopole ecc.).
• Non usare solventi, alcool, benzina o altre sostanze volatili per la pulitura delle parti esterne dell’unità.
• Non avvicinare fiamme libere al dispositivo
• Il fondo dell’unità FVM 9844 deve essere sempre sollevato dal piano d’appoggio di un’altezza
minima pari a quella dei piedini di gomma in dotazione, allo scopo di garantire la corretta
convezione dell’aria. Sul piano superiore del contenitore deve essere garantito uno spazio di
areazione minimo di 5 cm.



ISTRUZIONE D’USO CON TASTIERA
ACCENSIONE
All’accensione la matrice esegue una serie di operazioni che permettono l’inizializzazione del
modulo di commutazione. I dati relativi ai punti incrocio sono contenuti nella memoria della tastiera.
Al termine di questa fase, della durata approssimativa di 4 secondi, la tastiera diventa operativa.
DESCRIZIONE DELLA VISUALIZZAZIONE DI STATO
Al termine della fase di inizializzazione viene visualizzata sui display lo stato operativo della
matrice.
A fianco di ognuno dei 4 tasti di uscita viene visualizzato su un display il numero relativo al segnale
di ingresso presente. La situazione di memoria esistente al momento dell’ultimo spegnimento viene
istantaneamente ripristinata.
ESECUZIONE DI UN PUNTO INCROCIO
I primi quattro tasti con i leds a sinistra permettono la selezione del segnale di ingresso.
Tenendo premuto un tasto di selezione sorgente per circa mezzo secondo si ottiene la selezione di
Blank (da immaginarsi come un quinto ingresso dove non e’ presente alcun segnale).
Il segnale cosi’ selezionato viene immediatamente visualizzato sulla uscita preview.
A questo punto e’ possibile inviare lo stesso segnale su una destinazione selezionabile tramite i 4
tasti con display.
I display visualizzeranno cifre numeriche da 0 a 3 o il segno - nel caso di Blank.
Da notare che la visualizzazione del numero sul display e’ legata alla selezione dei livelli di
commutazione e dallo stato di lucchetto delle memorie.
TASTI DI LIVELLO VIDEO E AUDIO
Permettono di selezionare i livelli su cui effettuare le commutazioni. Lo stato e’ direttamente
visualizzato dai leds presenti sui tasti. La selezione determina anche la visualizzazione dei display
che soddisfa la seguente tabella:

SELEZIONE DELLA MEMORIA IN USO
Nella matrice FV9844 sono presenti 15 memorie selezionabili da tastiera. Ogni memoria comprende
i punti incroci video ed i punti incroci audio.
Per selezionare la memoria in uso premere il tasto Preset I display cambiano il tipo di visualizzazione
evidenziando nei due di destra il numero a due cifre relativo alla memoria in uso. Per modificarla
usare i due tasti di Out2 e Out3 per decrementare o incrementare il numero di memoria. Una volta
effettuata le selezione premere di nuovo il tasto Preset per richiamare la memoria ed inviare i dati sui
circuiti di commutazione. Al termine i display visualizzano i nuovi dati.



LUCCHETTO SULLE MEMORIE
E’ possibile lucchettare i dati presenti in memoria in modo che non sia possibile modificare
inavvertitamente gli stati pre-impostati. Per lucchettare premere in sequenza i seguenti tasti:
1) Preset
2) tasto sorgente In0
3) tasto sorgente In3
4) tasto destinazione Out0
Comparira’ sul display relativo alla uscita Out0 una L .
Ripremendo il tasto Preset si ottiene il ritorno alla normale operativita’.
Per togliere il lucchetto eseguire di nuovo la sequenza di comandi vista in precedenza in modo da
ottenere la scomparsa della L.
Nella situazione di lucchetto si puo’ ottenere qualsiasi punto incrocio tramite tastiera ma non se ne
avra’ alcun riscontro sui display che evidenziano solo ed esclusivamente gli stati delle memorie.
Premendo due volte di seguito il tasto Preset avrete il ripristino dei punti incroci in base agli stati di
memoria.
PROTOCOLLO DI COMUNICAZIONE SERIALE RS232C
CONNESSIONE
La matrice e’ dotata di linea di comunicazione seriale RS232c che permette una interfaccia con
PC, Mac, sistemi Crestron ,AMX e BiAmp. Il sistema di trasmissione è fisso su 9600,N,8,1. Le linee
utilizzate sono solo TX ed RX anche se, per esigenze di compatibilità con le macchine sopracitate,
non è prevista una risposta da parte della matrice. Le figure che seguono descrivono i collegamenti
da realizzare su cavi D9-D9 e D25-D9 tipici di un collegamento con un PC. Per i cavi di collegamento
verso Mac e sistemi Crestron ed AMX si rimanda alla documentazione dei sistemi suddetti.
PROTOCOLLO
IL PROTOCOLLO DI COMUNICAZIONE E’ IL SEGUENTE:
<AAh> <55h> <IL> <source> <destination>
dove AAh e 55h sono due byte di inizio trama per la sincronizzazione dei dati;
<IL> e’ un byte composto da codice di istruzione I (4 bits più significativi) e livello operativo L (2
bits meno significativi).

<source> rappresenta il numero del canale di ingresso (da 0 a 3 per questa matrice) e
<destination> rappresenta il numero del canale di uscita (da 0 a 3 per questa matrice).
ISTRUZIONI
I 4 bits più significativi del terzo byte di pacchetto rappresenta il codice di istruzione.
DI SEGUITO VENGONO DESCRITTE TALI ISTRUZIONI:
0. COMMUTAZIONE SOURCE SU DESTINATION
Con questa istruzione, se il livello L corrisponde al livello del modulo su cui si vuole ottenere la
commutazione, si ottiene la realizzazione del punto incrocio <source> su <destination>. Se la matrice
accetta il comando viene generato in risposta un pacchetto identico a quello appena inviato.
Per selezionare una situazione di blank su destination assegnare un numero di sorgente superiore a 3:
AAh 55h 03h FFh 01h (Esegue un blank sulla destinazione 1 video & audio)
AAh 55h 02h FFh 03h (Esegue un blank audio dulla destinazione 3)
3. INVIO DATI PUNTO INCROCIO SENZA COMMUTAZIONE
Con questa istruzione e’ possibile inviare i dati di un punto incrocio senza eseguire elettronicamente
la commutazione. Questo permette di immagazzinare i dati globali della matrice con 4 istruzione
di tipo 3 ed assegnare in seguito il comando di commutazione sincrona con istruzione di tipo 4.
Non e’ prevista una risposta da parte della matrice una volta accettato il comando.
4. INVIO COMANDO DI COMMUTAZIONE GLOBALE
Con questa istruzione la matrice commuta istantaneamente i 4 punti incroci memorizzati dopo
l’invio dati con istruzioni di tipo 3.
Non e’ prevista una risposta da parte della matrice una volta accettato il comando.
5. RITORNO DEL NUMERO DI SOURCE PER IL CANALE DESTINATION
Con questo comando e’ possibile interrogare la matrice per ottenere il numero del source in quel
momento sul canale destination. Il pacchetto di richiesta e’ il seguente:
<AAh> <55h> <5L> <00> <destination>
La matrice risponderà con:
<AAh> <55h> <5L> <source> <destination>
F. RICHIAMO DI PRESET (MEMORIA)
Con questo comando è possibile richiamare una delle 15 memorie presenti sulla tastiera della
matrice.

IMPORTANT NOTES
Before connecting and using this product, please read this instruction manual carefully and keep
it on hand for future reference. The manual is to be considered an integral part of this product and
must accompany it when it changes ownership as a reference for correct installation and use as well
as for the safety precautions.
RCF S.p.A. will not assume any responsibility for the incorrect installation and / or use of this
product.
WARNING: to prevent the risk of fire or electric shock, never expose this product to rain or humidity
(except in case it has been expressly designed and made for outdoor use).
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
1. All the precautions, in particular the safety ones, must be read with special attention, as they
provide important information.
2.1 POWER SUPPLY FROM MAINS (direct connection)
a. The mains voltage is sufficiently high to involve a risk of electrocution; therefore, never
install or connect this product with the power supply switched on.
b. Before powering up, make sure that all the connections have been made correctly and the
voltage of your mains corresponds to the voltage shown on the rating plate on the unit,
if not, please contact your RCF dealer.
c. The metallic parts of the unit are earthed by means of the power cable. In the event that the
current outlet used for power does not provide the earth connection, contact a qualied
electrician to earth this product by using the dedicated terminal.
d. Protect the power cable from damage; make sure it is positioned in a way that it cannot be
stepped on or crushed by objects.
e. To prevent the risk of electric shock, never open the product: there are no parts inside that
the user needs to access.
2.2 POWER SUPPLY BY MEANS OF AN EXTERNAL ADAPTER
a. Use the dedicated adapter only; verify the mains voltage corresponds to the voltage
shown on the adapter rating plate and the adapter output voltage value and type
(direct / alternating) corresponds to the product input voltage, if not, please contact your
RCF dealer; verify also that the adapter hasn’t been damaged due to possible clashes /
hits or overloads.
b. The mains voltage, which the adapter is connected to, is sufficiently high to involve a risk
of electrocution: pay attention during the connection (i.e. never do it with wet hands) and
never open the adapter.
c. Make sure that the adapter cable is not (or cannot be) stepped on or crushed by other
objects (pay particular attention to the cable part near the plug and the point where it leads
out from the adapter).
3. Make sure that no objects or liquids can get into this product, as this may cause a short circuit.
4. Never attempt to carry out any operations, modifications or repairs that are not expressly described
in this manual.
Contact your authorized service centre or qualified personnel should any of the following occur:
•the product does not function (or functions in an anomalous way);
• the power supply cable has been damaged;
• objects or liquids have got into the unit;
• the product has been subject to a heavy impact.
5. If this product is not used for a long period, switch it off and disconnect the power cable.
6. If this product begins emitting any strange odours or smoke, switch it off immediately and
disconnect the power supply cable.



7. Do not connect this product to any equipment or accessories not foreseen.
For suspended installation, only use the dedicated anchoring points and do not try to hang this
product by using elements that are unsuitable or not specific for this purpose.
Also check the suitability of the support surface to which the product is anchored (wall, ceiling,
structure, etc.), and the components used for attachment (screw anchors, screws, brackets not
supplied by RCF etc.), which must guarantee the security of the system / installation over time, also
considering, for example, the mechanical vibrations normally generated by transducers.
To prevent the risk of falling equipment, do not stack multiple units of this product unless this
possibility is specified in the instruction manual.
8. RCF S.p.A. strongly recommends this product is only installed by professional qualied
installers (or specialised rms) who can ensure correct installation and certify it according to
the regulations in force.
The entire audio system must comply with the current standards and regulations regarding
electrical systems.
9. Supports and trolleys
The equipment should be only used on trolleys or supports, where necessary, that are recommended
by the manufacturer. The equipment / support / trolley assembly must be moved with extreme caution.
Sudden stops, excessive pushing force and uneven floors may cause the assembly to overturn.
10. There are numerous mechanical and electrical factors to be considered when installing a
professional audio system (in addition to those which are strictly acoustic, such as sound pressure,
angles of coverage, frequency response, etc.).
11. Hearing loss
Exposure to high sound levels can cause permanent hearing loss. The acoustic pressure level that
leads to hearing loss is different from person to person and depends on the duration of exposure.
To prevent potentially dangerous exposure to high levels of acoustic pressure, anyone who is
exposed to these levels should use adequate protection devices. When a transducer capable of
producing high sound levels is being used, it is therefore necessary to wear ear plugs or protective
earphones.
See the technical specifications in the instruction manual for the maximum sound pressure the
loudspeaker is capable of producing.
IMPORTANT NOTES
To prevent the occurrence of noise on the cables that carry microphone signals or line signals
(for example, 0 dB), only use screened cables and avoid running them in the vicinity of:
• equipment that produces high-intensity electromagnetic fields (for example, high power
transformers);
• mains cables;
• lines that supply loudspeakers.
OPERATING PRECAUTIONS
• Do not obstruct the ventilation grilles of the unit. Situate this product far from any heat sources
and always ensure adequate air circulation around the ventilation grilles.
• Do not overload this product for extended periods of time.
• Never force the control elements (keys, knobs, etc. ).
• Do not use solvents, alcohol, benzene or other volatile substances for cleaning the external
parts of this product.
• Keep any flame far from the device
• The FVM 9844 must always stand around 1 cm. above the surface of the desk (or shelf), in
order to allow correct heat dissipation. For this purpose 4 rubben feet are provided with the unit:
please remuve only when 19” rack mounted. Above the FVM 9844 5 cm. must be kept empty to
guarantee proper ventilation as well.



designed to guarantee reliability and high performance.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR KEYBOARD’S USE
START UP
When turned on the FVM 9844 performs some processes to initialize the switching module. All the
cross point data are stored in the keyboard’s memory. After about 4 seconds this process ends and
the keyboard becomes operative.
DESCRIPTION OF THE STATE VISUALIZATION
When the initialization is complete the working status of the SWM0405 is shown on the display.
Next to each of the 4 output keys the number relative to the input signal is shown on a display. The
memory situation is restored as it was at the moment of the last turn off.
EXECUTING A CROSS POINT
Select one of the 4 Source selection keys (first 4 on the left). The Blank selection can be obtained
when pressing the source key for half a second (imagine it as a fifth input with no signal). The source
will be sent to the monitor output PW (preview) immediatly. Now this source can be sent to any of the
4 outputs by pressing one of the 4 destination keys. The dispay visualizes the cross point showing
the source number over the destination number: from 0 to 3 or - if Blank.
The visualization of the number on the display is connected to the cross point selection levels and
to the status of the memory lock.
VIDEO AND AUDIO LEVEL KEYS
These keys allow to select the levels on which the switches can be done. The status is visualized on
the leds. The selection will also produce the visualization of the display as shown here:

SELECTING THE CURRENT MEMORY
On the FV9844 there are 15 selectable keyboard memories. Every memory comprehends the audio
and video cross points.
To select the current memory press the Preset key. The displays change the visualization type
underlying the 2 digits number relative to the current memory on the two displays on the right. Use
Out2 and Out3 to increase or decrease the memory number. Once the selection is done by pressing
The Preset key the user will be able to send the memory data on the cross point circuits. At the end
the new data will be on the display.

MEMORY LOCK
The memorized data can be lock to avoid modifications. Press this sequence to lock.
1) Preset
2) input key In0
3) input key In3
4) output key Out0
The Out0 display will show one L.
Pressing the Preset key again will restore the normal situation.
Press the same sequence again to unlock, the L will disappear.
When in lock situation every cross point can be done,but the displays will not show it, they will stick
to the memory status.
Press Preset twice to restore the memorized cross points.
RS232C SERIAL COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL
CONNECTION
The cross point can be connected to a PC, Mac, Crestron and AMX system by the serial communication
line Rs232c. The transmission system is set on 9600,N,8,1. Only the TX or RX lines can be used (no
answer from the cross point) . The following pictures show the connections that must be realized
on the D9-D9 and D25-D9 cables for a PC. The connection cables for Mac, Crestron and AMX are
described on the user manual of each system.
PROTOCOL
THE COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL IS THE FOLLOWING:

Where AAh and 55h are two run in bytes for the data synchronization;
<IL> is a byte composed by an instruction code I (4 bits most significant) and an operative level L
(2 bits least significant).

<source> represents the number of the source channel (from 0 to 3 for this cross point) and
<destination> represents the number of the output channel (from 0 to 3 for this cross point).
INSTRUCTIONS
The 4 bits most significant of the third byte represents the instruction code.
THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE THE FOLLOWING:

If the level L matches with the level on which the switching is wanted, the cross point <source>

3 - SENDING THE CROSS POINT DATA WITHOUT SWITCHING
With this instruction it is possible to send a cross point data without having to electronically
execute the switching.
This allows to store the global data of the switcher with 4 type 3 instructions and afterwards to
assign a global switching command with instruction 4.
The cross point will not show an answer once the command has been accepted.
4 - SENDING THE COMMAND OF GLOBAL SWITCHING
With this instruction the FVM 9844 switches at once the 4 cross points stored after the sending
of the data with instruction 3. The cross point will not show an answer once the command has
been accepted.
5 - RETURN OF THE SOURCE NUMBER FOR ANY DESTINATION
With this command the switcher can be asked the current source number on the destination
channel. The request array is the following:
<AAh> <55h> <5L> <00> <destination>
The switcher will answer:
<AAh> <55h> <5L> <source> <destination>
F - Preset recall (memory)
With this command one of the 15 memories in the keyboard can be recalled.
The request array is the following:
<AAh> <55h> <Fxh> <FFh> <FFh>
Where Fxh can be any value from F0h to FEh
