Connecting a Lithium Rechargeable Battery
• Connectalithiumrechargeablebattery(2-7cells)withtheLiPocheckerviaitsbalancer
cable;plugitintotheappropriateconnector(1).Ensureyouinserttheminthecorrectpolar-
ity.Thetoppininthegureisthenegativepole(seealsothemarkingontheLiPochecker).
Attention!
TheincorrectpolaritywilldestroytheLiPochecker.Thewarranty/guaranteewillbe
void!Asageneralrule,thenegativepoleismarkedincolourontherechargeable
battery’sbalancerconnector.
• Usethe“TYPE”key(2)toselectthecorrecttypeofrechargeablebattery(e.g.LiPo).Youwill
seeonthedisplaythetotalvoltageoftherechargeablebattery(“VTotal”),thechargelevel
in%(e.g.75%)andacorrespondinglydisplayedbargraph.
Inaddition,ontothevoltageindicatorashesasymbol(1S,2S….7S)indicatingthecellhav-
ingthelowestvoltage(e.g.2S=the2ndcell).
• Nowpressthe“MODE”key(3)severaltimesinsequence;thefollowingvaluesaredisplayed:
“VMAX-MIN”:Thevoltagedifferencebetweenthehighestandthelowestopen-circuitvoltage
ofthecells
“VMAX”:Indicationofthecellhavingthehighestvoltage
“VMIN”:Indicationofthecellhavingthelowestvoltage
• Pressagainthe“MODE”key(3),thentheLiPocheckerisagaininthe“VTotal”displaymode
(totalvoltage).
• Ifarechargeablebatteryisconnectedtothebalancerconnector(1),bypressingthe“CELL”
key(4)youcaninterrogatethecellvoltagesoftheindividualcells(1S,2S…7S)andtheir
stateofchargein%(0-99%).Thechargingstatusisshownadditionallybyabargraph.
Thedisplayedvaluesforthevoltageandremainingcapacityaregoodindications
forarechargeablebatterytobetestedwithrespecttotheassessmentofthestate
ofchargeand/oracelldrift.
Sincethesevaluesarecalculatedwithoutload,thevaluesinthemodelinuse(load
withhighcurrents)candramaticallydiffer,dependingonthestatusoftherecharge-
ablebattery(oldornew;fewormanycycles;therechargeablebatteryhasadam-
agedcell).Avericationduringoperation–ifpossiblewithoutrisk–istoberecom-
mended.
• AfterconnectingtherechargeablebatterytotheLiPochecker(orafteryouhavecheckedthe
voltagesoftherechargeablebattery),afterabout5seconds,independentlyoftheselected
displaymode,thedevicewillstarttobalancethecells.
Afteryouhavereviewedthechargeconditionoftherechargeablebatteryandfoundalarger
celldrift(>10mV),pushthebutton“CELL”forabouttwosecondstostarttheautomatic
balancermode.Thedevicewillemitadoublesignalsoundaftertwoseconds.Discharging
hasnowstarted.Theselectedsymboloftherechargeablebatterytype(LiXX)ashes.The
devicenowautomatically(endlessloop)alsoselectseveryindividualcellanddisplaysthe
currentvoltageandpercentagewithabarchart.
