S65 and S65-OE
Smoke detector for ceiling mounting
The detectors come in two dierent models: one optical (S65-OE) and
one ionisation (S65). They are intended for use together with Regin’s
ABV... series of control units.
Function
The detectors are connected to the control unit with a two-wire loop.
Multiple detectors can be connected to the same control unit. An end
resistor should be connected to the last detector to end the loop.
There is a choice between two bases, S-BP which is used with a
control unit, and S-BPR-S65 which has a built-in relay which makes
it possible for the unit to independently give an alarm (without contol
unit).
The LED is normally o and lights up when there is a re alarm.
The detectors have a built-in service alarm function for sensing the
dust and dirt accumulation which inevitably occurs over time. When
the degree of dirt has reached the level at which there is the risk of false
alarms, a service alarm is given indicating that cleaning is required. This
is indicated by a red LED on the detector and by a yellow LED on the con-
nected control unit, type ABV-S-300/D or ABV24-S-300/D.
Installation
The detector should be mounted in a representative ceiling position to
give a good room supervision.
The smoke detector consists of a detector head and a base.
1. Mount the base plate at a suitable position on the ceiling.
2. Mount the detector head on the base (bayonet grip).
Wiring
The detector is wired to the control unit through a two-wire current loop.
The loop is closed by connecting the supplied 2.2 kΩ end resistor.
If the loop contains more than one detector the end resistor should only
be mounted in the last detector in the loop. If the loop lacks an end resis-
tor or if there is more than one resistor, the control unit will give an alarm.
Wire the detector according to the wiring diagram below:
Function test
Use an approved test gas (available from Regin) to test the
detector. Avoid spraying gas directly onto the detector head and only use
small amounts at a time to avoid unnecessary contamination of the
detector.
Maintenance
The detector should be tested and cleaned on a yearly basis to
ensure proper function. Cleaning of the outside of the detector
head can be done using a vacuum cleaner.
Note: Do not disassemble the detector head for cleaning.
