Pulse dialling selection
Press PULSE before you go off-hook (press TALK).
You can switch to Tone dialling part way through a call by pressing
*or #(not dialled out).
The dialling mode will not revert to Tone until the line is disconnected
for 1 second
Last number redial
Press LNR.
Flash
Press FLASH.
Program a memory
Go off-hook, press STO, enter the telephone number (or LNR to copy
its contents to a memory) then press STO again, press key (1-9 or 0)
to select the storage location.
Memory dialling
Press MRC then choose the storage location (1-9 or 0).
To use LNR as a Notepad
While off-hook, press STO, enter the digits, press LNR. Previous LNR
content is lost
Loudspeaker facility
When you are waiting for something to happen on the line that may
take some time, it is desirable to have both hands free to work. The
loudspeaker function gives you that freedom. The loudspeaker may be
switched on in the on-hook (monitor) or off-hook (talk) mode.
Loudspeaker-monitor mode
Connect to line, press SPKR to activate. In this mode volume is
needed, press VOL. To reduce volume press again.
Loudspeaker-talk mode
As before but press TALK to seize the line. Dialling is possible with the
loudspeaker on. To speak, press SPKR again and use the handset
normally.
Off-hook (talk)
Press this button to seize the line. Press again or disconnect the line-
cord to go on-hook.
High impedance monitor
Press this button momentarily to monitor the line. Monitor will stay on
while connected to the line and will time-out around 1 minute after
disconnection.
Mute (Tx cut-off)
Press this button to cut-off transmission for privacy or to eliminate
sidetone in noisy areas. Release to talk.
Polarity test/ground start operation
To test polarity connect to the line to be tested. Press the polarity, POL,
button and observe the LEDs (figure 1).
Red LED = Red line cord connection to tip (+ve)
Green LED = Red line cord connection to ring (-ve)
For ground start operation: Connect to line and identify the tip (+ve)
wire. Connect a ground to tip wire. Press TALK and then remove
ground connection.
Changing the battery or line-cord (UTS-ELS is
supplied with a battery)
